The room was CLEAN! First of all, I need to emphasize that. I found one single hair in the bathtub, and I'm sure it was from the cleaning lady - and since I have long hair and tend to leave them everywhere *I* go, I am not even going to complain about it. On a Saturday night, in Vancouver, and...

The hotel is small, and dated - 3 star at best. However it is well run, with a laundry, free coffee machine in the lobby. The room we were in was spacious and had a little kitchenette. Everything is clean. It is in a great position in the middle of English Bay, with lots of restaurants, bars and shops. Only...

The only redeeming value for this hotel is its location where you can find over 100 eating places. The rooms were filled with second hand furniture that did not match. Mismatched paint on the walls. Paper towels were not provided; even a dish towel was not provided in the kitchen. The beds were old with sagging mattresses. Front desk staff...

The location of hotel is one minute from Sunset Beach - amazing sunsets over the water. You can walk to the outer edge of Stanley Park in about 8 minutes. 10 mins walk to Granville St and shopping. The hotel is old but functional. The family who run the hotel are extremely helpful and will assist you at anytime. This...

Just skip this place and spend a lil more elsewhere. First off they only have maybe 10 parking spots, but at least 50 rooms. If yoy do manage to get a spot they charge you for parking. The whole are is permit parking only, and the paid parking lots in the area aren't 24 hours. So that does no good....

A basic hotel but in the right spot, with view of English Bay. Watched the fire works from our room. Rooms fine for a traveler with lower budget expectations. Kitchen with stove and fridge very handy.

Cheap hotel in the perfect spot for us. Great choice of eateries up and down Denman street and less than 5 mins walk to water front. The key with this hotel is to be open minded and remember it is one of the cheaper hotels in Vancouver. Our room (3 adults) was suitable, hot water, comfy beds and reasonably clean.the...

I stayed there for three days and loved it! The price & location were terrific - right in the middle of restaurant row and 5min from the beach. My room was fantastic - very clean and spacious(bigger than needed) The bathroom was immaculate. The front desk staff were 'fantastic'! Went above and beyond in helping me with a cell phone...

I'm so torn on this stay. ( I do have several pics to add when i dnld from phone to computer to back up my comments) The beds and walls were filthy!!! After getting bedbugs in Vegas many years ago, I always tear down my beds at hotels to check for bed bugs. In the English Bay Hotel, my pillow...

Overall the room wasn't too bad. There was an old musty smell in the room and the furniture and decor were pretty outdated, but it was clean and very cheap. The staff were friendly and helpful. The car park is particularly tight to get in to and would only advise using it if you are a very confident driver.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
