I was in Nanaimo for one day attending a wedding. The room was quaint, clean, and had a comfortable bed. Great location, many interesting things to visit all in walking distance. The common room looked like it was well equipped, although I didn't take advantage of it. My one gripe was the loud noise in the early morning from drunk...

Hi Talyx, Just a quick note to say (a very delayed) THANKS HEAPS for your overall good review on TripAdvisor.com last April after attending a Nanaimo wedding. We really appreciate you taking the time to comment! Loud post-bar patrons are our biggest frustration ourselves. Perhaps the bulk of noise will be dispelled next time you are here once we have...

I stayed here in September for a course being held near by. I emailed and called in advance to let the owner / manager know I have a visual impairment. When I arrived at 10:30pm with my cane in hand and my duffle bag the owner said "oh you have cane, can you see to make it up these stairs?,"...

The staff is very friendly and obliging, you fell directly welcome when you enter the hostel. The rooms are clean, comfortable and compared with other hostels very bright - a lot of light in the rooms and in the living room! The living room and kitchen area is nice furnished and snugly! You have to pay a little bit more...

Best hostel we've ever stayed in - Bruce, Angie and the crew were sensational hosts! You wouldn't even know that you were staying in a hostel because the rooms were so neat and tidy and all the facilities were new and state of the art. Couldn't recommend it highly enough and hope to see the Aussie flag we left up...

The front end staff were excellent. They helped us get our bike to our room and then took the time to show us around the common area and give an overview of the hostel. They were very friendly and helpful, linens were included, washrooms were clean, and the common area is nicely laid out. The room was comfortable, though very...

I stayed here as part of a trip I did in the summer of 2008. It was a great hostel. The staff were very friendly, it was clean and a good location. For the money, you can't beat it. I am now 52 years old and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

We stayed at the Painted Turtle for 2 nights in July. We arrived at the hostel and found the staff very helpful with both showing us around and also with advice on things to do in the area & throughout the island. The room was clean as were the shared bathrooms. The kitchen area offered plenty of room to prepare...
