Spent a night at this hostel in October and if I had spent a night during the summertime perhaps my review would be more favorable due to the ocean view. However, I hardly slept as the bed I was in was really soft and worn and the bed frame was lower to the floor than what I am used to....

This hostel was unlike any i've stayed in. It was two houses with rentable rooms. We rented a room with a double bed for only $50 total and the other room in the house was not rented so we basically had our own house for the night with kitchen, bathroom, and living room with tv. The woman who runs it,...

Excellent location, short walk to downtown core, beautiful view of ocean, islands. Quaint buildings offering variety of rooms depending on your needs. Reasonable rates, clean and cozy. Attracts the backpacker, fringe dweller, artist/writer/musician and others who think out of the box. Friendly hosts make you feel welcome and other guests seem to follow suit. Privacy and quiet in the down time.

Awesome hostel, met some great people and had a lot of fun here! Moni and the rest of the staff do an exceptional job keeping the place clean, affordable and friendly. Amazing house-style hostel with comfortable, cheap rooms and mega laid-back atmosphere. The staff are infectiously friendly and helpful, great to chat to and keen to recommend great places to...

We had a private room in what I would call a granny annex/house. We had it all to ourselves. The hostel had great facilities, great staff and a lovely view. It is a quiet hostel but great value for money.

The hostel was booked by a friend and I had no idea what to expect. Turns out, the place was beautiful, the staff were super-friendly and exceptionally accommodating and the place was kept clean(despite our best attempts). Walking distance from the centre of town and a short stumble from some of the more decorated dive bars. Had a memorable stay!...

Moni and the rest of the staff are overwhelmingly friendly, the hostel itself filled with quaint little details. It offers two different gardens, an outdoor shower (!), enough parking, an awesome view of Nanaimo Habor and the bay, a kitchen in every house, three dorms in the main building and more double rooms in the other. It's just a stone...

This was a very comfortable backpackers, the staff were amazing and the outdoor shower was brilliant. Great hospitality, and just far enough away from the Cambie. Moni was amazing.

We had a great time while staying at Moni's place in Nanaimo. The dorms were very comfortable and the outdoor shower was certainly a highlight. The place was also very clean and free of the typical riff-raff you find at hostels in Europe. Location was very good, as we could stumble home from the Camby and the A&W without too...

Over the past few years I have travelled across Canada, and one of my stops is Nanaimo, B.C., where I stay at the Nanaimo International Hostel, on Nicol Street, near downtown, and overlookiing Nanaimo Harbour. I stay here because of the excellent views, the excellent facilities, and most of all, the interesting and diverse people who come to stay. Hostels...

“Avoid the front of the building if traffic noise at night bothers you. If you're a couple, there are private double rooms which cost the same as 2 dorm beds, which is pretty unusual.”
