We got to Thompson Cottages very late. Merle had told us earlier to give him a call when we got there and he would get us settled in. He was such a gentleman. Even though it was nearly midnight, he guided us through the woods to our cozy cabin and explained everything. The cabin was perfect! The next morning we...

Friends (who've been coming here for 20+ years) recommended Thompson's...WOW!! What a great recommendation. Off the beaten path, yet lots to do in the area. There's even a beach within 10 mins. Cottages are rustic and disconnecting from TV, cell service, and WiFi was part of the appeal. We were in one of the "water view" (vs waterside) cottages...still secluded,...

We lucked out to grab a few days here and were so pleasantly surprised by the place we're hoping to book for next year and have told all our family and friends. The pictures online don't do it justice - the location is spectacular and the cottages are really nice and quaint. Bar none, the best part were the hosts....

I have been going to Thompson's Cottages for about 6 years now and have come to think of Alice and Dick as part of my extended family. They are gracious hosts and have provided me with an excellent 'Maine' experience, from trips on their boat to the wonderful blueberry pie. The view from the White Cottage is ever changing and...

The Thompson Cottages are a quiet, perfect escape with quintessential Maine views. We chose the tan cottage across the street from the dock. It was private and extremely clean. The bathroom and floors seemed recently redone. The hosts live on the property and are so welcoming and kind. They even bake pie for you! (We chose lemon and chocolate- both...

We rented the dockside cottage for a week in July 2009. It was very clean and well appointed. The porch overlooking the dock and Townsend Gut were great. We sat and watched the boats every morning and evening. We docked our small boat right at our back door which was very convenient. From there we explored the coast from Port...

We stayed in the Dockside Cottage that was right on the dock with a deck overlooking the water. It had a wonderful view of the harbor and lobster docks. The cottage was quite large with a full kitchen, living room, and one bedroom. It was very clean and comfortable. Our host, Alice included a free boat ride to Boothbay Harbor...

Alice and Dick were wonderful hosts. My car rental was cancelled at the last minute and no other cars were available from Boston. Alice and Dick investigated options for me and found a bus I could take to Portland (that showed sailing movies) and then changed their plans to drive over an hour to pick me up in Portland. I...

My husband and I stayed in the Lobster Shack (one of the cottages) and it was great! We were on the water and could watch the lobster boats come and go. The cabin was clean and well maintained and had everything you could need. Our host were wonderful and even took us for a boat ride!! Incredible views from our...
