We were so happy with this hotel - it is CLEAN, rooms are immaculate, up-to-date and well maintained. Rooms have coffee machine provided, fridge, iron etc,. Front desk was great - helped us out to access business cetnre after we checked outl. Housekeeping was there in a couple of minutes. It's a bit of a hike to downtown but the walk was great. Myself and my husband stayed at the Sandman in downtown Calgary in both September 20’ and February 21’. During both of our stays, we had a wonderful experience. The staff, location, price and rooms were fantastic.
The staff were always accommodating and friendly. As for the price, we travelled for medical reasons and were given a compassionate rate (thank you to Charlotte the sales director for providing us with this rate). You were a pleasure to deal with.
One of our biggest concerns was finding a hotel with both a convenient location and a clean room, and we were not disappointed. This hotel is located near a pharmacy, convenient store, tons of restaurants, liquor store, etc. All major necessities were near by and you are no more than a 20 minute drive from Calgary International Airport.
The cleanliness of the rooms seems to be a huge priority in this hotel. We also had a kitchenette room, which came with a mini fridge, kettle, microwave and toaster. All very useful when staying at a home away from home.
We both really enjoyed our stay here and will most certainly be back in the future. I would highly recommend.

It takes a lot for me to leave such a low rating, but I feel it is deserved.
In this day of COVID19 cleanliness is important.Our room was clearly not vacuumed and the little table was sticky with coffee/pop stains. It made us wonder what else was not cleaned so we spent the first 1/2 hour cleaning our room (we did not call the front desk as they were swamped with people). Also we selected this hotel based on an advertised deal but when checking in were told that we didn't get the deal (even thought the person in front of us did)....would have (should have) walked away right there but it was raining. I think that all your customers are equally important and all should be treated the same. Also the hotel fronts onto the train station and so it is noisy with trains coming and going and all the people (lots of transients)
But the worst part came in the middle of the night. The fire alarm went off. We quickly existed through the fire escape. As we moved down the stairs we came into a big jam of people. And people kept coming behind us. The fire exit doors at the bottom were stuck and would not open. You can imagine the panic that set in as people could not go back up as more and more people kept coming down. Not only were we packed in there trying to get out because of the fire alarms - but in today's day and age of COIVD being packed like sardines in a stairwell is not fun.
Eventually a couple big guys muscled their way down the stairs and thankfully beat the door open - but it was a TERRIFYING experience being trapped.
I believe that it is a fire safety code violation for the door being inoperable. Looking at the door afterwards it was already in bad shaped, looked like it had been previously beat up pretty good - but it was never replaced.

We were here for 2 nights.
Parking lot had low ceilings with nails pointed out, really easy to scratch your trunk top, but that’s not something I’d blame the hotel for, though it would’ve been nice if they warn you about it.
First day check in as I walked in and opened the sheets of the bed, there was a string of hair lying there so I called for a bed redo. The housekeepers came in, saw it, and said “that’s it?”
I don’t understand what they meant by that, do they need to see a pile of hair? If there’s other people’s hair on it, I could only assume that it’s not properly cleaned. Their passive aggressiveness seems necessary since I didn’t demand anything besides asking for new sheets.
Then later that night, my partner was using their makeup towel, and on the inside of it, another big pile of hair (note: picture attached), we both have black hair so it can’t be her’s.
The day of our checkout, their housekeeper opened our room with their master keys at 8:00am without saying anything or knocking.
Honestly, they hotel is not bad but the experience I had really wasn’t great.
We stayed in room 2302 from Aug 18th-20th 2021, would not recommend with their current training.

The shower was so weak and ineffective it feels like the hotel is personally upset at you. I tried to shower and midnight and it took five (5) full minutes for hot water to appear. Avoid using conditioner if you ever want to exit the shower as rinsing it will take an eternity. No water in the vending machines but plenty of monster energy drink. A great metaphor.

Rooms were dirty (piles of trash under the bed, weird stains), a/c rattled, parking is a nightmare (if you drive a truck you have to try to squeeze into the loading zone that’s always packed with taxis, and leave your truck on the street). Most of the front desk staff was awesome, but would recommend staying elsewhere, especially if you don’t drive a small car. However it’s cheap enough for downtown that these issues are almost to be expected

The room and hotel were very satisfying. My only advice is if you are wanting a shower you need to start the water 7-9 minutes before getting in for hot water. At least on the 19th floor anyways.

Arrived early and room available, grateful for early check in.
Room ok, bed and pillows comfortable and bathroom well equipped.
No glasses, only plastic cups, or mugs, only paper mugs, in room due to “covid”.
No housekeeping unless you request it by 11am each day. Requested housekeeping first morning around 9 am, went out for day, returned at 5pm, room not made up, reported to reception who advised housekeeping now finished for day but he would bring whatever we needed.
Second morning requested housekeeping around 10am on way out at front desk, returned around 5pm, not done, reported to reception. We have now exhausted all supplies in room so request replacements of everything. Promised will be delivered immediately.
Why don’t hotels give you the option to opt out of housekeeping rather than opt in, especially if their opt in service is not working.
Hotel has a pool and jacuzzi, pool is cool and jacuzzi is very hot, nowhere to shower or change by pool, towels at pool side. Robe in room so you can walk to/from pool in robe.
Calgary is last stop on our holiday, having stayed in several other hotels, including another Sandman, this hotel has been our least favourite. Something as essential as housekeeping should run like clockwork.
Just found out only 1 ice machine in hotel with 20+ floors is working, 3 machines out of order, the lengths I go to for a G&T!!

My family and I took advantage of the new "Glamping Package" that current Calgary Sandman hotels were offering. We could not have been more impressed! We were given a kitchenette suite with 2 little linen tents with my kids names on them. There was also a light projector mimicking a star filled sky, and a picnic basket full of treats. To say my kids minds were blown was an understatement!
The entire hotel is gorgeous! Our room was emmaculate and very clean. This hotel obviously takes Covid 19 cleanliness seriously!
Pool and hot tub were open and we were able to book 1 hour time slots for our family
Of course Covid has changed the city and I found the downtown core to be a little desolate. Being early March probably doesn't help.
The Moxies restaurant attached to the hotel has been closed for a year. There are no options for room service. No breakfast options from the hotel. We managed with Skip the dishes. There is a Tim Horton's, McDonald's and Circle K across the street.
The hotel provided underground parking, which made me feel better about staying downtown.
Overall, I would stay here again! The hotel was great and so were the staff.
