We had a perfect winter adventure on snowshoes at Shadow Lake Lodge. We drove from Calgary on a snow-covered TransCanada Highway, arriving at the trailhead parking lot about 9:30 AM. It took us about 5 hours along a beautiful forested trail to arrive at the...More

I hiked to Shadow Lake Lodge last week of July. Of all the hike in lodges I have been to (Phantom Ranch, Sperry Chalet, and LeConte Lodge), this was the most luxurious of the hike in lodges. Cabins were very nice and separated from other...More

Cute area and nice location. Excellent hikes to the high-country lakes and summits. Great history about the owners and the building of it. Food is good although the evening entrees were not always warm but cold from setting in the kitchen too long. You make...More

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in late August and wished we had stayed longer. The hike in was fairly easy going and extremely peaceful. The last two miles are a bit more strenuous. It's a fine balance to pack light for...More

LOTS of HUGE mosquitoes on the way, less on-site. Take into account that the bungalows do not have a toilet (there are several outhouses on the premises). If the child has to go during the night, it's pretty dark and cold... More

You are able to bike the first 12km on the Redearth trail, then you must lock your bikes and hike the last 2km. You will gain 1500' on this trail, there are a few good hills, but the trail itself is not challenging.
