On the whole this is a lovely hotel but sadly a little tired and in need of some attention to detail. Our complimentary upgraded room was light and roomy but cleanliness was an issue particularly in the bathroom where the air vent over the bath was covered in dust. Opening the bathroom windows we discovered that window stiles were covered in mould as were the windows sills. Skittling boards on the stairs were covered in dust. Contrast this with the bar and restaurant areas which we clean and fresh. The evening dinner service and food were both excellent where the front of house and waiting the tables as well as managing the bar was all done by Elouise who was brilliant. The only negative comment I would make about the food was that I had the smallest portion of hake otherwise everything was cooked to perfection and tasted great. Contrast this with the chaotic breakfast service carried out by three members of staff. On arrival to our breakfast table we first served with cold mixed toast bread, two of which were end of loaf slices. Once ordered our food and waited, I had to request orange juice as none was offered. We waited too long for our cooked breakfast which turned out to be overcooked. All in all it was a very mixed experience.

Stayed for three nights with dog. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. It is a very dog friendly hotel. The room was of reasonable size and spotless, fresh water bottles supplied daily. Breakfast was good with a reasonable selection. The evening meal was excellent and very price competitive, we ate in a pub one evening and the price was comparitive but the quality not. Next time we stay in The New Forest we will checking availability.

We stayed with Tim again in May with another guest and can’t praise enough his Staff ,both my wife and our guest are disabled and nothing was too much trouble.Much thanks go to Elouise and Rachael who really made us so welcome at Breakfast and Evening meals, but indeed all the other staff we met including Room service and gardeners are so friendly. The Hotel is delightful with lovely surroundings and the decor of the lounge and Restaurant are superb and so inviting and to a very high standard . With a great high quality food selection on offer this Hotel in Sway village really is worth a visit and with a very good variety of rooms available will tick all the boxes for a great stay. Finally we met some some lovely friendly other guests during our stay which at a Hotel such as this tend often to be repeat stays as indeed ours has now become this can be such a bonus for the older travellers

Stayed for one night and also ate evening meal here. Room was comfortable and bathroom good. What stood out was the friendliness of the staff who were helpful and pleasant. Location and gardens nice and enjoyed a drink on the terrace in the evening. Meal at night was good and breakfast ok.

We found everything about this hotel delightful: the staff, the service, the food, the décor, the setting. The atmosphere was relaxed and informal but efficient. We had an electrical fault in our room which was resolved very promptly. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

The positives: lovely spacious room with a sofa, huge comfy bed, lovely view over the garden and beyond. Great location. The evening meal was good. The not so positives (personal thoughts) : I had high hopes for our stay and had imagined that the hotel was in a county setting, it’s not, it’s in the heart of a village. The hotel felt a little tired, the downstairs areas - bar and lounge were attractive and whilst the bedroom was very spacious it was a little tired and didn’t feel ‘special’. There is a step down into the bedroom just inside the door - there is no contrast in the carpet or edging, potentially dangerous as I found to my painful cost. And finally breakfast was disappointing.

Stayed for a short half term break in a classic room. Room was nice but view was of car park so if coming again I would request a garden view room. Plenty of parking but car park not lit at night so used phone as torch to navigate puddles - thanks to Storm Dudley. Handy to have Co-Op opposite for any supplies needed whilst on a break. Breakfast was lovely with attentive but not overbearing service. Had dinner on the first night which was very nice with outstanding service from the young waitress. Went to the Hare and Hounds which is just up the road for lunch which was also very nice.

All great - lovely people and a very pleasant stay. Nice decor, good restaurant and well located. Staff went out of their way to help on a few things. Good value for the quality and a nice relaxed vibe. We will return as it’s a great location with lots nearby. Also catered for gluten free very well.

My wife and I stayed here in November, we really enjoyed our long weekend break .We found all the staff and Tim most friendly ,the well maintained lounges, dining area’s with superb decor and well laid out garden are so easy to relax comfortably and enjoy .The Reception foyer with very well maintained quality toilets was a credit to see . It’s also a Bonus to be able to park without struggling to find a space. My wife is disabled and needs to “take her time when using the Stairs”and it was an absolute joy to find many other guests offering assistance if required this , highlights the advantages of staying in a Hotel where guests see each other more often and become very friendly towards each other which is something you wouldn’t get so much in a larger environment. We will be returning with a friend in the Spring and would recommend this hotel .
