From the moment we arrived both Rob and Jo made us welcome, from afternoon tea with a wonderful home made sponge cake accompaniment in an historic salon to the beautiful double room overlooking the garden. True, it's not en suite but with a private bathroom a few steps up the corridor this was far from an inconvenience and, after all,... More

We were looking for accommodation to base ourselves in to visit the peak district and family in Buxton. By sheer dumb luck we were looking for dates that Wisteria cottage was free and booked up. Rob and Jo at the Manor have this cottage which is even closer to the village pub than they are, which takes some doing. Great... More

We had the pleasure of staying with Jo & Robert in the Gardens Cottage. The log burner warmed us, the countryside embraced us and the afternoon cake was without doubt expectational. Book the candlelight breakfast Wonderful

If you are planning a holiday in the Peak district, then Alstonefield is the place to base yourself. It is a small village off the beaten track, so pretty and with a great pub for excellent food. We arrived at 4-00pm and were shown our room - it was the old nursery. We saw the guest lounge (with complimentary sherry), the large breakfast room - this is where magic happens, every guest sits together and converses!! More later. We then had afternoon tea on the lawn looking over the most beautiful countryside - just stunning. We ate... More

Take a walk back into the elegance of a bygone age! Alstonefield Manor is everything you'd expect from a gentle stroll back in time. Painstakingly decorated to capture the elegance from a century or more ago and fitting perfectly into a picture postcard Derbyshire village, surrounded by rolling Peak-District countryside, this village manor house is not for the noisy, mobile... Cottage exceptionally nicely styled and equipped, we loved the wood burner (lots of logs provided) and roll top bath (always lots of hot water). Great location with lots of walking from the doorstep. A very relaxing environment to stay in - quiet and cosy. We self catered most of the time, as facilities to do so good but also gastro... More
