Quiet, located close to the river which has undergone in the last two years substantial works of underpinning with concrete banks and 3 new bridges, Norban or Noorband Qala has been shaped like a small fort (Qala) following the Afghan tradition of a high walled building outside and a nice garden inside. I stayed at the Norban Qala (aka Noorband Qalla) Guest House for two nights in October 2013. The weather was still quite warm so heating was not an issue and I can’t speak for how comfortable the rooms are temperature-wise in frigid temps. Stayed here while on a business trip. Rooms and bathrooms looked clean enough. TV had English channels on and there was an internet connection of some sorts. Breakfast was boiled eggs/naan bread. My room was overlooking a nice courtyard. Room was warm and comfy with its own wood stove for heating and there was an electric blanket! Nice for the...

Stayed here in january 2013, well while all the other hotels were closed due to Winter ..this was the only one willing to accommodate us and really helped us coordinating our trips as the flights were cancelled constantly the security and staff is very friendly and helpful,food options are limited and if something is going on you wont even have...

stayed at this place for three days on business with the UN in Oct 2011. It had recently opened and competes with the only other place to stay called the silk road hotel which is closed over the winter months due to lack of heating.
