All the previous glowing reviews are absolutely accurate. A friend and I stayed for three nights and can easily recommend a longer visit. Hospitality, comfort, facilities and food were all superb. Would I stay here again? You bet.
The ethnic Guest house has been developed in a remote tribal village by Leon using the local materials. The terracotta floor tile, the Saree ceiling, the natural coloured mud walls with ultra modern toilets make it a perfect destination. If you are a nature lover, this is one of the finest place to stay in the lap of nature. Leon is a great host and he had trained the local tribal ladies to treat the guests with delicious cuisine.
I spent five nights here and felt I was leaving far too quickly. For me, as a tourist traveling through Orissa for several weeks starting in Puri and working my way south eventually to Visakapatnam, here is where I learned the essence of India. Leon has lived in India a long time and as a native of Australia brings a western perspective when he talks about India. I was the only guest most of the time so I had the time and opportunity to ask hime about what I been seeing the previous weeks. The guest house and surroundings are beautiful, but I got a lot more than that out of my stay here. Talk with Leon and find out for yourself.
From a tip from an internet friend I was recommended this place and I am so glad she did. The 5hr drive itself from Vizag Airport was amazing but once you reach Chandoori you know if is special. Leon is great to chat to and the food was excellent. the girls from Goudagouda were brilliant. The rooms were comfortable, the location stunning and the village next door was like stepping back in time 150 years. The longer you stay the more relaxed you get, but the real highlight was a day with Ramendra one of the village leaders, who walked me around his stunning landscape, visiting other villages, meeting and chatting to the locals and seeing them live their daily lives. A trip to one of the local markets too was a riot of colour and fun. A special place- thanks Leon for simply being…
Chandoori Sai exceeded my expectations in every way. Leon, Para, Rita, Hashi, Bashanti, and Gemma (one name I forget!) were all amazing hosts who all went out of their way to help accommodate my interests. The food was delicious, the rooms were spotless, the beautiful grounds were fully barefoot friendly, and the surrounding villages and areas were infinitely interesting. This place is one of a kind in India, and in the world. I would unreservedly recommend Chandoori Sai to all friends and family.
