Peacefull Homestay isn't meant for you if you like staying among hordes of tourists, want average-quality food, and have no interest in learning how the local people live. On the other hand, if you want a unique experience, peace, and staggeringly beautiful views of Pangong Lake, make that trip to Merak. The roads have improved considerably in the last few months, so it's much safer and quicker to get there. Given the constraints under which people live here (tap water reached Merak only recently), we had a pretty comfortable stay. The ladies managing the property worked tirelessly to help us with hot water, delicious food, and other necessities. The rooms, linen, bathroom everything was spotless. We had 24-hour electricity, which most tents in the area won't offer you. We were also thankful for the comfortable beds and thick walls protecting us from the ice-cold wind blowing at night. The best experience was talking to the ladies and other family members to understand their lives better. It's truly amazing how well they manage everything living in such a remote area. Oh, and did I mention those divine views of Pangong Lake, just a walk down from the house?…
Peaceful Homestay really lives up to its name! Far from the crowded Lukung village, the facility is located at the shores of the mighty Pangong tso, in the Merak village. It affords you lovely views of the lake and its majestic countryside. The staff are extremely helpful and hospitable. The cottages are bright and cheerful, with clean bathrooms. The linen is of good quality and the mattresses very comfortable. Short treks into the village and the surrounding countryside along the lake are great ways to spend the day there.
We stayed in one of the cottages. The rooms and bathroom were clean and hot water was available. The food was simple but delicious, both for breakfast and dinner. The gorgeous Pangong Lake is easily visible from all rooms, and its banks are a two minute walk from the cottages. There are many animals such as horses and cows roaming about, making for great photography opportunities. The manager, Paljor Ji is very friendly and hard-working, and will make sure that you are well taken care of.
This homestay is in Merak village, the furthest village in Pangong Tso. To reach this village you have to travel for around 45 minutes further from the starting point of the lake. The drive from the starting point to the Merak village is the highlight of the stay in the homestay. It is a mind-boggling scenic drive upto the homestay. Merak has few homestays right now but I am sure in a few years it will be flooded with camps and homestays like other villages along the way. The rooms are small with basic facilities but they are warmer than the tents. Hospitality is good and good is basic. Lake is visible from the room but is around 5 to 7 minutes walk from the homestay.
As the name say, it was indeed a peaceful stay. View of Pangong Tso from the rooms is surreal. Great hospitality, simple food but super yum. Route from Pangong Tso to reach here is beautiful and very scenic.Overall a great experience and recommended stay in Merak.
It was wonderful experience, Great hospitality and original ladakhi experience. Neat and clean premises, pangong Lake view, route is very beautiful along with the Lake. Very peaceful and cool, will visit again and again.

What better a view when you wake up in the morning, than the spectacular Pangong Tso gleaming away in front of you? Peacefull Home Stay is a cozy place in Merak, perhaps he last village on the Indian border before the Pangong moves into China. You don't need a TV here, for the view from the windows is breathtaking. The owner and host family is cheerful, hospitable, and extremely thoughtful. Although the food was plain, it was delicious, prepared by Mrs. Dolker herself. Paljor Dolker, her husband, kept an eye on all our needs throughout the time we were in the home stay. The bedding and blankets were clean, the washroom was spotless, and the view from our living room, kya kehne. This could hands down be the best place to stay close to Pangong Tso. Hats off to the Dolker family for running such a warm place in such a beautiful location!…
It was a wonderful homestay so close to pangong lake . It was our first trip after the marriage . So memorable . Owners of the homestay were so nicely behaving and ready to help at any time . Guest will get the sight of lake from main hall/Dining area . Good quality food and hot water will get on demand.
One of the best stay of our entire trip. The view of Pangong Lake from room is just amazing. You can directly see the sunrise from the room and if u are a morning person take a walk to the lake and enjoy the beauty. The stay is 5 mins walking from lake. The host Mr Kunzang Paljor and his family are lovely people. They make sure you are never short of hot tea and some delicious homemade food. Thank you Peaceful Homestay 🙏
