Ticked all our boxes; friendly staff, dog friendly, most crucially accommodation was clean and tidy , great view of the countryside and we had breakfast at the Cottage Hotel, we would stay again at the Tanfield in a shot - had a great time!

1st impressions were.. Oh dear... Decor is 1970s, stippled ceilings, veneer chipboard furniture, tiny tv, single plug on the opposite side of the room, strip lights in corridors, Etc. Hopes were low.
