As always, a wonderful experience staying at Cabo Azul. Staff wore masks at all times and you stepped on a disinfecting mat as you entered the lobby. Upon entering we were greeted with "Welcome Home". What a wonderful beginning to our vacation. We arrived on 4/2/21. We chose “Transportation for Less” on this trip. They greeted us upon exiting from the airport. No frills, just transportation, which was fine with me ($104 r/t for 2). Driver was friendly and we talked most of the way. Check for transportation discounts on Tripadvisor. Once again, if you’re with a group, warn them to keep it moving and not entertain the offerings of timeshare hagglers with heart-stopping offers ($400 cash plus dinner!!!). My husband got snagged and I had to go back and get him or possibly lose our ride. If you’ve got time to kill, be entertained by the circus that develops around you, but beware, after 3 hours at a 1 hour presentation, the money doesn’t look all that inviting when it’s handed to you and you’ve lost 1/2 of your vacation day to a, possibly high pressured, presentation. We arrived too early (10 a.m) for check-in, so used the down time to shop at a nearby supermarket (Chedraui). We normally shop at La Comer across the street, but decided to try this one. La Comer allows timeshare hagglers in their market. It’s quite annoying to be accosted by timeshare reps while you’re trying to shop. The taxi cost to either one is $7 USD each way. Register for the antigen test upon arrival (if it's still required). You will be given a date and time for the test. Pre-register by following the QR code on the card in your room or at the sign-in desk, before reporting for the test. We thought we were signed up because we had an appointment but there’s still paperwork that must be done before going to the appointment. We did it on our cell phone and they pull it up on their computers. You pay for the test just before taking it ($40/pp). It was a nose swab that tickled but was not eye watering…unless your eyes tend to water easily. We had our results within 3 hours. Negative. Yeahhhhh! We will be supplied with the necessary paperwork for departure when we check out. This time we're on the ground floor of the Aqua Villas near the Family Pool. While not an ocean view or Infinity Pool view like we’re used to, the area is impeccable and beautifully landscaped with private seating and lounges set up around the pool. You can enjoy this area in a quiet atmosphere with your kids or grab your gear and head to the lounges around the Infinity Pool and on the beach. The best of both worlds. There’s a DVR in the living room so make sure the kiddos bring their favorites. There’s a safe in the living room and the kitchen has everything you need (photos attached) including salt & pepper, paper towels, dish soap, dishes and cookware. The bathrooms are stocked with shampoo, soap, conditioner, body wash, etc. An in-house market, business area with a cafe (Starbucks), National Car Rental office, concierge desks that book tours, a gym, swim up bar, restaurant and in-room dining, are some of the many highlights of Cabo Azul. Free laundries can be found in every building. The internet is strong everywhere at CA. On Day 2, we played movie/tv trivia and enjoyed a pool putting game using whiffle balls. Volleyball is always available as well as other beach games, and there’s an aqua aerobics class in the morning. A directory of activities for the week is available. During the day, kids activities are plentiful. We ate dinner at Flor de Noche Restaurant and Swim Up Bar. Unfortunately Javier’s was still under construction. We had dinner at El Fish & Grill across the street from Cabo Azul. The restaurant is under the new ownership of a French chef so the dishes are Mexican with a French flair. The food was delicious. Unfortunately, when we returned the evening before departure (Thursday), they were closed. This restaurant is listed as #14 out of 369 restaurants in SJD on Tripadvisor. Our goal on this trip was to whale watch. On Day 4 (4/5), we boarded pontoons and headed out into the ocean. We saw several spouts and the backs of several whales but, unfortunately, none of the magnificent breaching seen on videos. Hours later we heard of another tour group that saw plenty of whales. Maybe whales aren’t morning creatures. On this evening we ate at Zippers, a beach bar (very basic). I had fish & chips and my husband had flank steak with grilled corn on the cob, a baked potato and coleslaw. There was also ribs on the menu along with a lot of other choices. Remember to bring a light jacket for ocean view activities, whether eating or just strolling. The taxi was $10 each way from Cabo Azul. On 4/6 we ate dinner at Chato's Burger Sea Food Grill & Bar. My husband had chicken enchiladas and I had shrimp tacos. Everything was delicious.. This restaurant is listed as #8 out of 369 restaurants in SJD on Tripadvisor. The taxi was $7 each way from Cabo Azul. On Thursday evenings there is a huge outdoor flea market in this area. I would suggest getting a printout of your bill the evening before leaving so you can settle as much as possible without delay, if you’re departing early. As usual, Cabo Azul did not fail, even during COVID, in giving us the best vacation ever. This is our 5th trip. Do as little or as much as you want, it’s all available at Cabo Azul.

I've been coming to Cabo for over 15 years and have now stayed 5 different locations. This was my first vacation of 10 days which started with two nights at Cabo Azul. From the moment we arrived we were met with the best service. The views, restaurant, bars and spa were all tested (the steam room was inoperable during my visit). Wish we'd stayed one more night!!

We try to make it here 1 time a year. Amazing resort with great food options/menu, excellent layout, pool, and top notch staff. Location is incredibly located to airport and down town San Jose. The staff is EXTREMELY helpful and accommodating. A few that really stood out and went the extra mile to make our stay relaxing and comfortable were Carlos (concierge), Jorge (pool staff), and Andres (pool server). All were extremely friendly and proactive in making sure we had everything we needed and enjoying ourselves. They make our stay go from a 4.5 to 5 star experience.

The best service imaginable. Beautiful and immaculate resort. Pool attendant Braulio Chavez was the best during our 3 week stay. My wife has MS and he noticed her difficulty getting up from chase lounges. He added a second layer of cushions to her lounge making it much easier for her to get up. Brilliant! We’ve been staying here for years and never thought of that. Bravo Braulio!😎😎😎😎

The service and personnel were great! The resort, well manicure, but too many rules. It’s a great place to do nothing but soak in the sun and drink water. By the way, there is no water in the rooms, you have to bring your own. We booked a year ago and a Covid test was included in the reservation, make sure you get it in writing or they will go back in their verbal promise and you’ll get stuck with a bill. There are many resorts in Cabo that are better resorts that are all inclusive and cost less than this place. $790.00 for a suite and they won’t provide Water. Very disappointed! Will not return...
