Beautiful property and setting. Great room and view. But…incense made us nauseous. Could not escape it on pathways. Why? Second, narrow beautiful pathways clogged with incessant golf carts ferrying people and staff around. Not great fort ambience. Finally, no casual dining options at dinner. Room service only option. Could have been great but alas disappointing at this extremely high price point.

I apologize for the lengthy review but our stay here made a tremendously positive impact and we feel individual praise and recognition are necessary. My first draft of this review was written on our last full day and as we reflected on what was quite possibly the most perfect vacation had at O & O Palmilla. We were sitting on the secluded, white sand beach that embraces this gorgeous property, being doted on by Alberto and Elias when right before our eyes a whale jumped in and out of the water 3 times. It was magical. I was so taken aback by the whale that my draft somehow deleted. This version is being written on our very last morning, as we listen to the waves from our Casita Suite and take in the sun light reflecting off our plunge pool. We are saddened to leave this magical place, luxurious grounds & accommodations and incomparable service. Our sadness was intensified during breakfast by Gabino at Agua. He has to be the most genuine, kind, warm, and attentive individual ever. I’d like to make clear that EVERYONE you encounter at Palmilla is phenomenal, gracious, warm and inviting; eager to make your stay perfect and exceeding all expectations. However, like most relationships there are some you hit off better than others. Gabino was one of them, as was Seesa (also at Agua during breakfast - beautiful soul). From day one, our hosts Victoria and Isaac were amazing! Victoria has the most beautiful smile. They both exude warm and positive energy and genuinely care about your needs and wants. They will make the impossible, possible. Let me put it this way, if you ask them for a unicorn with a rainbow mane, their follow-up question will be: what color horn? Gold or silver? That’s how well you will be taken care of. After you are greeted by your host (if you’re lucky enough, you’ll get team Isaac/Victoria) you will be escorted through the lush and majestic grounds of Palmilla and into your beautifully appointed room. We were left breathless with our beachfront Casita. The view is unbelievable. The temperature of the plunge pool is perfect. You are welcomed with fresh fruit and the smoothest tequila in your spacious yet cozy living area. The beds are so comfortable. My husband and can never get a good nights sleep in hotels slept like a baby all 7 nights. The cleaning service is immaculate and everyday the room smelled and looked fresh. I also loved the little surprises left at turndown - very cute and thoughtful. The bathrooms are well equipped with most everything you can need during your stay. You also have the most beautifully smelling incense that seems to also be the scent that permeates the entire resort. Dining, pool and spa were always a special experience, led by the most welcoming and gracious staff. But first, the pool! We kept ourselves at the adult only pool (next to Breeze) or the beach. Hands down these gentlemen work hard to make your lounging as comfortable as possible. You cannot go wrong with any of the pool attendants, but you’ll be in good hands with Joaquin, Efren, Elias, Javier and Alberto. As one of them once told me, in all seriousness: “anything is possible at the Palmilla…” and they lived up to that promise! If you get any of the spa treatments, do yourself a favor and ask for Edaena. She is very talented, but kind and warm. I was also blessed to have met Daniella and Heidy, spa attendants, who made my visits enjoyable. Daniella also has a very pretty smile and awesome personality- we hd our laughs and chatted quite a bit, which was very nice. AGUA: we had most our breakfasts at Agua and as already mentioned, we were blown away by Gabino and Seesa. The food was delicious but my all time favorite was the El Rancho with plenty of habañero sauce. I must also bring attention to Julian, who always made sure our coffee was hot and plenty; very sweet gentleman that was eager to please. BREEZE: Oscar!! Enough said. He had the most welcoming smile and even when we wouldn’t eat there, if he saw us he went out of his way yo say hello and chat with us a bit. Now, if you’re a Fish & Chips fan - wow!! You must try that at Breeze. SUVICHE: OH. MY. GOD!!! Hands down my favorite place. Amazing service was had from Fernando (at the lounge area); with great memory: he remembered my Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned. I was very impressed by the branded “O&O” ice cube that accompanied my old fashioned - beautiful detail. Arturo was also quite awesome and made us laugh. He was very personable and inviting and he and my husband had their inside jokes, which was very nice to see. My favorite sushi: Tuna with truffle (melt in your mouth tuna!!); and all 3 Wagyu nigiri but the Rossini is very damn tasty!!! Not enough words of praise exist to describe our wonderful stay at Palmilla. It is obvious that warmth, kindness, impeccable service, and genuine care for guests are their guiding principles. Everything about Palmilla is luxurious (and yes, you will pay for it) but it is worth every peso. Palmilla exceeded our expectations and set the bar very high.

Dear sfmamaesq, It is hard to find words that the meet the level of gratitude that I have after reading this lovely review, where just the same way our team does, no detail was spared. Thank you dearly for giving us the opportunity to host while visiting Los Cabos, and for acknowledging the exceptional efforts our team does to deliver the most amazing experiences! I hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the near future, and as we say in Mexico, "Mi casa es tu casa". Our original trip to the South Pacific, so we booked a last minute getaway to Cabo. We've been to Cabo multiple times previously, and while we've dined at One and Only previously, we've never stayed at the property. Hence, we selected the resort to see how it fared to Chileno, Esperanza, etc. Needless to say, One and Only holds its own and is a solid 4.5. Check in was seamless as our butler, Daniel, met us upon arrival and gave us a quick tour of the grounds on our way to our room, 1726. We've stayed in larger suites and villas previously, but this room was perfect for our 4 night stay for the four of us (2 adults and 9yo and 12yo). It featured 2 queens and seating area with sectional. We were also oceanfront, so we got the strong breezes throughout the day. As others have noted, the room is a little dated, but it has ample space (~800 sq feet) with a good size bathroom. Pros: - Food is exceptional. We ate at all the restaurants (Agua, Suviche, and Seared) as well as ordered at the pool and the beach, and we found the dishes to be incredibly good. There was no dropoff at any of the locations. This seems to be a hallmark of One and Only's as we had a similar experience at Mandarina. Chileno's food is sensational, but Palmilla's is just a minor notch above. - The service level is incredibly high as everyone was extremely attentive. We rarely had to flag some down or wait to get our food or drinks. Staff was everywhere and ready and willing to assist. Admittedly, the resort was 50% occupied, so perhaps the service suffers in other months. - Kids Club is in a league of its own. Its expansive with lots of room for kids' activities, etc. And, the staff are warm and engaging. My 9yo daughter never wanted to leave. - Gym has new, high end equipment although we had to press to let them allow my 12yo to use their facility. That was annoying as he's an athlete and quite familiar with equipment usage. - Beach is swimmable, and there are nice kayaks, paddle boards, etc. to use for free. Its not as clear as Chileno nor Esperanza, but all the beaches are somewhat rocky in Cabo. Punta Mita seems to have the best beaches in our opinion. Cons (very minor nits with the exception of food pricing): - The rooms need more lighting as even with the drapes open, the room was quite dark. And, the lamps are not adequate. - TV has few US/English channels - Food pricing is exorbitant, bordering on outrageous. As noted above, the food at One and Only is exceptional, but its significantly overpriced even when compared to Chileno and Esperanza. We've eaten at Chamboa and Parole, and even their meals are considerably less (RT taxi included). - Palmilla golf courses (Arroyo/Mountain) are merely ok. The courses are in decent shape and have some nice vistas, but they're not that challenging. I'm an 11 and played from the tips and still shot an 82. The greens are not mowed, so they're super slow and balls just stick. There are better courses with nicer practice facilities to play in Cabo. Nonetheless, we would happily return to One and Only in the future.

Stayed at One&Only for a couple nights in November. This was our second time visiting and it was overall a pleasant stay. Our last visit was 5 years ago, and it was not quite the same but we still very much enjoyed. We stayed in an oceanfront junior casita suite which had a beautiful view and great private pool. The room needed a little tlc, some fresh paint could go a long way but it was clean and that's really most important. The grounds are beautiful, especially the chapel. Loved walking around on the beach. Food was great, our meal at Suviche was outstanding. There is not much to complain about honestly, little nitpick-y things. The spa was one of, if not the best, we have ever been to. The steam room inside the locker room is insane. Very beautiful facility. I'm not sure if we would come back to stay (just personal preference), but would definitely come back for the restaurants and spa.

The OO Palmilla is a really nice resort. It is obvious that all of the employees work very hard to make your experience a good one. It is a beautiful setting and the restaurants deliver. Here's the thing, there is a very wide margin in service and other details between the OO and Las Ventanas. We have been to both several times, and this most recent visit to OO will be our last, as long as LV is around. Here are the primary differences: Service: The employees at OO and LV try very hard and are extremely friendly. The employees at LV simply have been under a much more rigid and sophisticated training program. OO has reactive service. LV and intuitive and pre-emptive service. In other words, they have it covered before you even ask for it. At OO you need to ask for what you need, even in very obvious circumstances, and the delivery is a bit clumsy at times. Again, not from a lack of effort on the behalf of OO employees, but for fairly similar price points and resorts that are less than five miles apart, OO is a disappointment when compared again LV. Pools: The pools are key at these resorts as the beaches are barely useable, small and an after thought to the resort. The pools at OO need a serious refresh. The small blue tile pools were great in the mid-90s, but is time to upgrade. The coping and fake rocks just make it look cheap. The adult pool is 11.5 feet deep? Unless you are part of a diving team, I can't understand this. You cannot stand in 85% of the pool. Most adult pools I see are for leisurely relaxing and having the ability to walk around in the pool with a cocktail. That's not happening at OO. Rooms: Bathrooms look about 25 years old and it is time for an upgrade. The blue tile plunge pools are an eyesore. LV rooms feel more like your own space at the resorts. Rooms at OO very much feel like you are part of a hotel. Additionally, room service items were just left on our entry for most of the day. Again, OO is solid. It just can't compete against LV.

We stayed for 10 days and it was fantastic. Friendly staff, great facilities from the gym to the pool. New Year fireworks were just magnificient - although not sure if we should have them anymore in this world. The hotel provides a personal host/hostess for every room to book restaurants and things alike. A definitive luxury thing. A lot of activities incl. a top golf course. We simply enjoyed.

Had not been to the Palmilla in ten years but the place is still terrific. I will keep the review short because the website and pictures accurately reflect the property. What can not be seen in pictures and reading the web site is the fact that the service remains top notch even by the standards of competitors such as Aman, Four Seasons and other premier properties. Many hotels are still not operating at their pre-covid levels. Our butlers were Yair Palacios & Victor Gonzales and they were fantastic. So were all the other folks on the property.

So , I have been a big fan of the One and Only properties for many years and especially One and Only Palmilla. Unfortunately, the service has dropped. Probably my fault, as I have been busy with selling my businesses and couldn’t take advantage of long weekends in Cabo. There are many new 5 star hotels that have been built since my last visit 5 years ago and I should and will try them next time. My complaint: I requested and Ocean front junior suite with a plunge pool, same type of room I usually get in the past. These rooms are pricey. The staff assigns me to a room that has a view of a grass roof top and sprinklers and a plunge pool that has a 3 foot negative edge. Comparatively the room I requested and paid for was a beachfront with a plunge pool that has about a 6-7 foot negative edge. No help from management and I’m still paying for a full blown regular priced oceanfront junior suite. Sorry One and Only but that’s not what I am staying in. Beware on the rooms you get or the views you request and pay for.

I am shocked to be writing such a poor review of this resort but here we are. I just do not understand why anyone would pay the prices they charge for such mediocrity. We went in with the expectation that One&Only should be on another level than other luxury brands like the Ritz, W, Andaz, Park Hyatt - we’ve stayed at them all at this price point and less- but clearly we were wrong. There are some positives, the property is beautiful, the breakfast was good, gym is great, and the staff is friendly and service is mostly good. The pre-arrival experience was positive and the arrival experience was special. We booked via Amex FHR and enjoyed the breakfast benefit and late check out. Everything else fell flat. The rooms are dated, we had several small maintenance issues when we arrived. For $1500/night I’d expect the rooms to be inspected and immaculate upon arrival… ours was not. The bed was fine, but not the luxurious bed I’d expect at this price point. Food and drinks were egregiously overpriced and mediocre. We knew going in that cocktails were $30+ USD, but never expected those cocktails to be average at best. I can’t think of a single food or beverage item that I’d be excited to have again. If you are going to charge $40 for a chicken quesadilla then the quality and flavor needs to be better than chipotle… it was not. Wine was also insanely overpriced - whispering angel for instance was $47/glass ($25/bottle in the states). This is Mexico, not the Maldives, yet the prices were higher than Maldivian resorts in the middle of the ocean that have no easy access to anything. Our first night we were served a dish with a whole surprise octopus… there was no mention of octopus on the menu for this dish (we checked multiple times) but it arrived with a large dead body nonetheless. We requested they remove it and were met with confusion. You’d think this request would incite a manager to visit our table, but nothing was done until we complained the next morning. They did do the right thing and removed the $250 dish from our bill, but the surprise ruined the dish and even without the octopus the dish was one note. We canceled our other dinner reservations at the property and ate in downtown San Jose. The hotel didn’t ask or care why we cancelled. Otherwise nothing was particularly bad. But everything was average and overpriced and just not special. We were visiting for a special occasion and were given a weird display with rose petals on the coffee table one night. Nothing else, no chocolate or champagne, just rose petals and a candle. It felt so bare minimum… just like everything else. Part of what makes a hotel special are the little things. I cannot think of any positive memorable things for our entire 4 day stay. We would never return and frankly it has caused us to reconsider One&Only branded properties entirely. If this is what the brand considers a luxury experience, then I’d choose to stay elsewhere.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this resort. We have stayed at many luxury hotels in recent years, and the One&Only by far exceeds any hotel we have ever stayed at. The service is unlike anything we have experienced- each room is assigned a butler, who is beyond helpful in ensuring your stay is fantastic and you have all that you need throughout the stay! The resort is lush, tropical, and feels like a mini paradise- not like ANY hotel in Cabos. We came over Christmas break which has the most gorgeous lights throughout the property! They had a set area called Abuelo's casita, in which each day offered incredibly delicious freshly baked pastries, beverages and other food choices! They offered many activities for the kids at the kids club, including different cooking classes! Both pools are beautiful with great service- offering leg pillows to ensure you are comfortable while lounging on your chair. They also had massage therapists coming round for 10 min free foot massages- which was amazing! The spa is beyond beautiful offering a sauna, steam room, cold plunge and lovely staff assisting you while you are there. Overall an incredible stay where you and your family can enjoy- a special shout out to Chef Vincent the head chef on property who went above and beyond for my kids - giving them a tour of the kitchen and even taking them for a mini chocolate making class! Also - we loved our butler Victor who was such a tremendous help over the vacation! If I could give any small feedback it would be: 1. To offer more vegetarian and fresh pasta options at the restaurants. 2. I understand it’s peak season- but Restaurants on property are hard to get reservations for, even as a guest- if you have to make any changes during your stay it was hard to accommodate those requests. 3. To update the rooms a bit as they are a little outdated and without bathtubs included. 4. To expand the beach area by the adult pool - allowing for a more established beach area with a bar or food offered - as that is the nicer side of the beach compared to the other side of the property.
