Wonderful staff! Everyone was so kind and helpful in English and Spanish. A cozy room with a kitchenette for a low price. The hotel has filtered water, which was a huge relief. Just a short walk to all of the downtown action. Quiet location. We will definitely stay here again.
Everything said in other reviews that makes this place 5 star is true. It is a beautiful place with lovely people working here. However, anyone booking this needs to be aware of two important realities. The hotel advertises itself as a "non-smoking property" and says "no pets including service animals allowed." I booked based on this, as I do not want to be around ANY smoking and prefer not to have animals underfoot in public areas, etc. I've experienced the following on my stay: 1. PETS: It clearly states “NO PETS OR SERVICE ANIMALS” on Expedia and other booking sites where they advertise. A guest with a small dog was entering the front door by the office as I was meeting a friend. The dog exploded in a jarring barking fit, raced about under my feet and then began licking and bumping its wet nose on my ankles as I dodged getting its leash wrapped around my legs and tripping. Not exactly pleasant… The receptionist explained the guest was allowed to have the dog here because she presented a certificate certifying it is an "emotional support animal." Hummmm there is a reason US airlines no longer allow them on planes...only trained/certified "service" animals....to avoid FRAUD. Anyone can get a certification for an "emotional support" animal for a small fee within minutes over the Internet. Then they use it as a way to insist on having their pets in hotel rooms where pets are not allowed. That said, be aware that this hotel allows pets if the owner shows an "emotional support" certification...whatever that means since ANY pet can be “certified” as such. If you have allergies you might get a room where the animal resided. Be warned. 2. SMOKING: It expressly states this is a “SMOKE FREE PROPERTY” on Expedia and other booking sites where they advertise. One would think “Property” includes the only front outside /loading enclosed area/entrance on the “property” they own/manage……guess not…. I had to pass through a heavy cloud of smoke several times each day in the only entrance/exit to the property. There were multiple guests taking a morning cigarette, drinking beers throughout the afternoon as they smoked there, etc. This is the MAIN problem. There is a small courtyard at the front entrance for drop offs/loading with a seat. Guests sit there and smoke. At this "non-smoking" property, the minute you arrive/leave, wait on a taxi, etc. there can be people filling that entire small, shaded area with smoke. It's disgusting! It happens several times a day at all hours. In addition, each room has a small balcony. Guests go out there and smoke. I kept smelling smoke for a couple days off and on when I was trying to enjoy some fresh air with the doors open only to finally discover the guests below me were freely smoking right there on their balcony. The hotel gives written warning on the check in list of rules and posts a non-smoking sign on the sliding glass door....yet, guests think they can smoke on the balconies. And, they do! Besides smoke entering other people’s rooms, when the smoker leaves his door open the smoke will go into his room. Thus, you might get a room at this “non-smoking” hotel that smells like smoke even though the prior guest was not actually inside his room when smoking. The smoke gets into the bedding, drapes, etc. easily. I suppose a sign on the balcony saying "No Smoking or You Will be FINED" would help....but right now there is nothing posted on the balcony.....just on a sheet you get at check-in (which few bother to even read!) that states no smoking in the rooms, balconies, hallways. Since the front desk is not staffed over night until 8 AM there is no one to report it to until then. Your choice: You police and potentially fight with your neighbors or deal with it nights/early mornings. What I do not understand is why so many guests who smoke deliberately come to a property that advertises itself as a no smoking property?!?!?! What is even more perplexing is that the hotel encourages it by designating its small courtyard lobby/only entrance as the smoking area! In sum: * You MIGHT run across a room previously occupied by a pet and/or encounter some on site during your stay. I think this is rare but happens. The hotel accepts "certified" service and "support" animals in spite of the well-advertised no service animal policy. * You WILL have to deal with cigarette smoke coming/going/waiting at the entrance (often heavy and from multiple smokers) and VERY likely coming into your room if you leave your door open for fresh air. This is NOT a "non-smoking" property by any means other than perhaps inside the room itself. During office hours staff will tell people not to smoke on balconies. But, they WILL allow AND direct them to smoke right at the small enclosed only hotel entrance area. You will have to deal with it coming/going/waiting on rides….there is no choice due to the position of the hotel entrance/shaded area and no limit really on the number of smokers who might be there. Be aware. As I initially said, this place is 5 stars for all the reasons noted in many reviews. The entire staff is lovely and the property is beautiful. But, having a single designated smoking area for all guests in the only place to come/go/wait at the small entrance makes no sense when they are advertising a "non-smoking property.” Plus, they could add a no smoking sign to the balconies to avoid any uncertainty….with a stated fine so people actually abide by it. They could also only allow certified “service” animals (properly trained/certified) and not “emotional support” animals, which are something anyone paying a small fee online can certify for any pet with/without any level of training within minutes. Or, just do as they advertise and what potential guests believe/rely on when they book—not allow ANY pets including service animals. There you have it: SMOKING and ANIMALS at the hotel that advertises itself as a “no smoking property” that “does not allow pets including service animals”……FALSE ADVERTISING!…
This hotel is located about 20 minute walk from the main shopping area and marina. Rooms are basic with kitchen included and free very good Wi-Fi. Good fridge, stove and enough storage room. Clean bathroom. Very poor breakfast (a box of cereal, milk, a piece of cake and an apple). Staff was very friendly, helpful and smiling.
We absolutely LOVE this hotel. Clean, secure and a 15 minute walk to the marina district. Fabulous hospitality with all the amenities for a remarkably low price! WiFi, A/C, toiletries, kitchenette, generous breakfast and even beach towels and umbrellas. The staff is friendly and helpful. We are staying there AGAIN. DEFINITELY a rare find.
I am so sorry to be so horrible with names but I wanted to give a shout-out to the beautiful ladies I've had the pleasure of interacting with. I am an independent traveler, but even then, I need the odd thing here and there. Everyone was helpful and so kind. The place was very safe, in a great location, and I wanted for nothing. All my needs were met, at the level that was most comfortable to me. Laundry is $85 pesos onsite for a small tote bag. How handy! I hope to return as soon as possible.
