Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa garners praise for its ample amenities, including impressive pools and a host of activities, though guests have noted some confusion regarding meal plans. While the rooms are appreciated for their spaciousness and views, there are criticisms about maintenance and décor. The service is generally lauded for being attentive, despite occasional reports of slowness. Its prime location is celebrated, yet some guests mention noise concerns. The atmosphere is described as lively and authentic, with some suggesting a refresh. Opinions on value are divided due to hidden fees, but the resort's cleanliness receives high marks.

It is a very large and elegant hotel. What I liked is that there are many activities for people like me who like to be active during the holidays. There are zumba classes, Aqua aerobics, volleyball, board game tournaments and pool activities.

The pools are very large there are 3 for families and a jacuzzi and an adult-only pool that is quieter. What I can highlight for the hotel manager to take into account is to contemplate putting some shade because the sun is very strong.

The hotel is located on the beach but you cannot swim as it is open sea. So you have to leave the hotel and walk 10 min to a nearby beach called the baler or you are just visiting the médano beach which is a must for your visit in Cabo San Lucas.

Jair entertainment staff and Hector the pool waiter made our stay memorable with their excellent service.

The room is amazing we couldn't have picked a better one. The room included the premium wifi which is faster than what is normally included in standard rooms. that was a plus.

Another point to consider for the manager is to put a little more variety at breakfast as we do not find many healthy protein options other than eggs to taste and cold meats. We liked everything out there.

The cleaning staff always had our room ready and we never had to wait to get in which I appreciate because I like to go at noon to cool off a bit. In other hotels I had to wait up to an hour to enter my room so I thank the cleaning staff for their efficiency as the quality of the cleanliness in the room was not compromised.

I have a great taste in my mouth and hope to come back soon.

The property is well maintained, although the rooms are a little bit outdated and could use a major update, especially the bathroom/shower area, where you need to almost climb to get in and out of the tub .

Bedding was comfortable, pillows just a little too firm for my taste. Employees were very attentive and ready to assist you, if you needed anything.

The resort felt quiet and lacked the lively atmosphere we were expecting. However, the neighboring property seemed to be having a lot of fun, which made us wonder if we had chosen the wrong location. They did offer a Mexican Fiesta on Monday evenings, but it required an additional fee.

Since we were in a seafood town, we opted for a limited meal plan, focusing on breakfast. The buffet had a limited selection of food, and we were restricted to a single restaurant. However, the tacos and sopes were delicious! The open-air restaurant was a bit of an adventure, as birds enjoyed the fresh fruit and yogurt alongside us.

We are returning today, Aug 4, after a wonderful stay at Playa Grande. The location is great, close enough to the marina and medano beach to get a full taste of Cabo. Because we had one toddler grandbaby and another 6 month old grandbaby, we chose to primarily stay at the resort and took advantage of the all inclusive meal plan. The food was great, at the sports bar, Calima, and brigantine. The food poolside was just okay, but my husband raved over the chicken tacos. Staff were attentive and friendly, but service was just a bit on the slow side. Nonetheless, it was a fantastic week. Housekeeping kept our rooms spotless, water aerobics and water balloon fight was really fun. The fiesta and beach party were fun, even though we didn’t win a bottle of tequila. We also took the sunset cruise that is limited to solmar guests and it was a great experience. Be sure to ask about it if you visit PG. We also participated in tequila tasting and wine tasting on site. Both were great events and are included with the all inclusive meal plan, as is the fiesta and beach night. A special shout out to big Jose who was excellent at Calima, Fernando for the tequila and wine tasting, Ricardo Hernandez and Daniel poolside, and the dear lady who provided housekeeping to 2551. Looking forward to our next visit to Playa Grande.

We took a 12 day vacation with RCI exchange to Playa Grande on the last week of August through Labor Day. Overall, their staff was super helpful with a warm smile always, and the property is very clean and well maintained despite their age.

My partner has a walking disability and walks with a rollator. Ubaldo and the men at the concierge were very helpful and cheerfully helped up and down the stairs as well as offered golf cart rides to the room when they were around.

Jair and the Entertainment Team was excellent - friendly, talented and full of good energy. "Tequila Volleyball" was a blast! Their Mexican Fiesta was also so much fun. Beautiful regional dancers from all over Mexico, and a Mariachi band that had a very authentic sound. The comedian Roberto was hilarious, and had everyone fully engaged.

Our 1BR room was very spacious and comfortable, with a full kitchen, comfortable bed, and two bathrooms with a large terrace that offered a great view of the Pacific and the lovely pools. The cleaning ladies did an amazing thorough job.

We loved the off season quietude in late August! Everything felt very spacious and relaxed. Compared to the resort next door, I really appreciated that Playa Grande's entertainment activities were minimal with less noise. I'm not a big fan of loud events that imposes on everyone around.

I had read that they charge for WiFi, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they did include it, and only charge if you want the premium higher speed. I found that the free internet was sufficient for emails, posting occasionally, and Whatsapp. I'm not sure it would sustain a live video zoom call, though.

Their gym is excellent, one of the most well-equipped gyms we've been to at resorts. It's open 24/7 which is awesome. I was able to give my partner some strengthening rehab sessions, which made our vacation very purposeful.

The only reason I took one star off was their drinks and food. They seem to think that jacking up the prices would motivate people to do the all inclusive, but it was more of a turn off. The food we did have - simple guac and chips and a chicken dish, was so subpar - we did not expect to have bad guacamole in Mexico, but it is possible!

Also, the Entertainment Team should be mindful - soliciting for reviews when people are relaxing in their lounge chairs is not cool - let people relax! If your service is great, people will leave a good review.

We traveled as a group of two families and chose Playa Grande Resort, expecting one of the better resorts in Los Cabos. Unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory, and we will neither recommend nor return.

One of our families was initially offered a free upgrade to a master suite but was later asked to pay $75 for the upgrade—highly unprofessional and misleading.

The amenities were disappointing. The gym is outdated, the beds and pillows are uncomfortably hard, and the sofa bed in the master suite was so uncomfortable that the kids struggled to sleep.

Service was another letdown. Even though the food bills already include a 15% service charge, the waitstaff consistently insisted on tips, claiming that the management does not share the service charge with them.

Additionally, the resort ran out of pool towels twice during our stay, which is unacceptable for a supposedly high-end property.

For families with children, the resort offers very little. The only activity for kids was mini-golf, and they even charged $20 per child for the Concorde.

When you stay at a premium resort, you expect to relax and enjoy without constant frustrations like these. Unfortunately, Playa Grande Resort failed to deliver on even basic expectations, leaving us extremely unhappy with our stay.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We deeply regret that your stay at Playa Grande Resort did not meet your expectations and that you encountered several challenges during your visit. Your feedback regarding the upgrade process, amenities, and service is concerning. We understand the importance of clear communication and seamless service, and it’s evident that we fell short in these areas. We also take note of the discomfort caused by the accommodations and the inadequacy of activities for children. The issues you raised about pool towels, gym facilities, and the sofa bed are valid and have been shared with our management team for immediate review. Additionally, the concerns regarding service charges and tipping practices are being thoroughly addressed to ensure clarity and fairness for both our guests and staff. We value your candid feedback as it helps us identify areas that need improvement. While we regret that we were unable to provide the experience you were expecting, your input will guide us in making the necessary changes to better serve our guests in the future.

The Resort was beautiful and the staff were fantastic! Fernando and Miriam, our servers by the pool, went over and above to make sure we had a great time! We LOVED it. The Mexican fiesta and the beach party were a lot of fun, and the food was soooo good!

The resort is a short walk to shops and marina, great location, and short cab rides to the swimming beaches, more shopping and restaurants.
Prices at the restaurants we reasonable, and the food selection and quality was very good.

Our room was always beautifully cleaned upon arrival at the end of the day and the housekeeping staff were friendly and courteous!

There was only one negative for us. The mini golf course needs some major attention. Was told one day it would be free to use, but when we went back to actually go, we were charged $10 per person, which we paid for 5 of us to go. The course was not in great shape, the greens were torn and worn, and one was missing. The clubs need to be replaced. The ends were taped up with electrical tape. On the plus side, the refunded my money, no problem! It was still fun, just wasn’t really worth the $10 fee at the time.

One other note that would be a great little service for the hotel would be to let guests know how to get their sales tax returned. We can apply to get the tax we pay returned, but for the hotel stuff and tours we have to do it before going through security at the airport. Would have been nice to know, and would have saved me hundreds of dollars.

All in all, if I could do a 4 1/2 stars I would. We had an amazing week, and our family will forever cherish the memories. We will be back for sure!

I think majority of the reviews on here are fake or were done so by people for free drinks. This is a 3 star resort at best. My boyfriend and I checked in and the receptionist wasn’t the friendliest. We get to our room and it reeks of mold and also a puddle of water on the floor. The furniture also looked like it’s seen it’s better days. The next day we went to the restaurant and it took the longest time for just a couple tacos, when no one was there. We decided to check out at that point and then we found out all the extra fees they add.. cleaning fee.. donation to their “charity,” it’s all just a scam and they are laughing at themselves with your money. When we left we had to walk to the gate to get an Uber, which we never had to do before.

This place sucks and is a scam.. go elsewhere.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We take all reviews seriously and appreciate your honesty. We're genuinely sorry to hear about the issues you experienced during your stay. We strive to provide a welcoming and pleasant environment for all our guests, and it's clear we fell short in your case. We'd like to address a couple of points mentioned in your review: Review Authenticity: Tripadvisor is a very serious platform with stringent policies to ensure the authenticity of reviews. We value all feedback and are committed to maintaining transparency and honesty. The majority of our reviews reflect genuine experiences from our guests. SOLMAR Foundation: The SOLMAR Foundation is entirely voluntary and dedicated to supporting several NGOs that take care of children and those in need in Cabo. We invite you to learn more about our efforts at solmarfoundation.org. We apologize for the inconvenience you faced with the room and service. Your concerns about mold, room condition, and slow restaurant service will be addressed with our team to ensure improvements. Additionally, the extra fees, including the voluntary donation to our foundation, are meant to support our charitable efforts, but they should be clearly communicated to our guests. We understand your frustration and regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. We hope you will give us another chance in the future to provide you with the quality service and experience we are known for.

This resort is beautiful, clean, great food and drinks, and the staff is fantastic. Just note a couple of things… The ocean is too dangerous at times to swim, so no swimming in the ocean. Although the beach is wide open for playing games or sunbathing. You can see it from most spots, so you still feel like you’re at the beach. Also, tips are not included when you choose the all inclusive option, so be prepared for that. The all inclusive was quite the deal, remember to pay for it 30 days or more in advance for the best rates and save your receipt from RCI as the rates often go up, but you will be locked in with that receipt. And it seems that every room has some sort of an ocean view, which is awesome. Their seafood is great and you can get sushi pretty much every day at one of the pool bars. All the pool chairs are cushioned and they will bring you lunch and drinks right to your seat. The swim up bar is fun and there are different sections so you don’t have to hear the music at the swim up bar if you want a more peaceful location at one of the four other pools. They do two dinner shows a week and they were very entertaining. Make sure and keep your blinds closed during the day and the air conditioning set very low as it can be challenged. The spa was awesome as well. Can’t say enough great things about this place. I hope you get to visit!

I would give this place zero stars if I could. We chose Playa Grande Resort to celebrate my son’s first birthday, expecting a smooth and enjoyable vacation. Instead, we were met with nothing but dishonesty and a complete lack of integrity.

They market their packages as “all-inclusive,” but this is an outright scam. During our stay, we ordered room service while our kids were napping and missed meals at the restaurants. We assumed this would be covered under the all-inclusive plan. To our shock, at checkout, we were slapped with extra charges for nearly everything we ordered—including basic items like coffee! Apparently, their version of “all-inclusive” has a laundry list of hidden exclusions that are never disclosed in their advertisements or policies.

This resort is NOT a 5-star property as advertised. It’s a mediocre 4-star at best, and they failed to inform us of this beforehand. For a 4-star experience, you’d think they’d at least offer some transparency and honesty, but they fell completely short on both fronts.

It’s appalling that they would lie so blatantly, ruining what was supposed to be a memorable trip for our family. This was our first and will absolutely be our LAST time staying here. If you value honesty, good service, and an actual all-inclusive experience, avoid this place at all costs.

We have stayed in many great resorts in Cabo but Playa Grande is our favorite. We did an RCI exchange and we absolutely love this resort! Each room has a balcony with a Pacific Ocean view and we enjoyed whale watching each morning and watching the sun rise. We could lay in bed and look out at the ocean and it was so beautiful! What sets this restart from some is the fabulous staff here. Everyone was so kind and helpful and treated us with such respect and courtesy. Our housekeeper, Nancy, always had a smile on her face and cleaned our room daily leaving fresh towels. Our sheets were changed not once, but twice! Our pool servers, Daniel and Fernando were wonderful and always reminded us about happy hour times so we could get that last drink order in. They were so pleasant and friendly and just really enhanced our entire experience. We didn’t do the all inclusive but there were daily theme nights that looked like so much fun. The staff began setting up around 3 and the venue was decorated so tastefully. We only ate at Brigantine’s but the food was delicious (my husband ordered the seafood fettuccine both nights) and our server, Jorge, was such a joy! He was so attentive and treated us like royalty. I actually felt a little uncomfortable with how special everyone made us feel! The location is perfect because you are right on the beach but only a 10 minute walk to the marina/town. I am so sad there is a 1 in 4 rule ( I understand why!) so we can’t return through RCI until 2026. I highly recommend booking here if you are planning a trip to Cabo. I have never been so sad to leave a resort as I am to be leaving Playa Grande today.

Yes! In the hot months, the walk back can be difficult. But in good weather, it's a nice walk both ways.

No one on the beach selling at plata grande or dollar side. You can not go in the ocean but you can walk and lounge on the beach. If you want to experience the traditional beach "vendors" and would like to swim in the sea, you can take a water taxi for $5 pp at the marina, which is only a short walk down the hill. I can't tell you why grande solmar is so much more $. Probably to reinforce its elite reputation. Playa grande is nice, just request a room at the main resort. The other rooms are nice but away from the main restaurants and pools
