We have stayed at many resorts (Greece, Jamaica, Italy, Spain, Aulani in Hawaii, etc) and this resort was subpar. At first glance, it seemed big and gorgeous - by Day 2 we experienced bad treatment from staff, disgusting food, and our kids were bored (never happened at other resorts. The kids have had more fun at hotels in Orlando - no theme parks involved) Pros - 1.) Entertainment staff (for the pool games and the funny guy at the Mexican Beach Party) 2.) Spa (All the girls at my spa visit were amazing: Blanca, Anabel, and Xochitl) and Pool Server (Jaime) 3.) Two bathrooms & Full kitchen Cons - 1.) Disgusting food! We listened to the reviews and did not buy the all inclusive package (Thank Goodness we did not). The reviews stated individuals/families with the package were not treated as well, due to the hotel having already made their money. This should've been our first clue to horrible customer service. Regardless, the food is nasty! 2.) Bad Customer Service: Front Desk Staff AND Mexican Beach Party Staff AND Female server at the pool. Mexican Beach Party - Paid $200 to attend the party. We were standing in line to enter (already paid AND had wristbands)... A staff member escorts the family in front of us to their table. Another staff member escorts the family behind us to their table. We were standing there. We walked off and found our own table. Sat with a nice couple from Washington state. However, our server rarely came to the table - at all, the entire night! Front Desk Staff - Rude anytime you go to the front desk with a question, after check-in. Female Pool Server - I ordered 4 meals on consecutive days (for lunch at the pool). One day... she brought 3 meals for 4 people. I explained to her that we were a meal short. Her explanation was "but this saves money." I looked at the menu before purchasing... We were very aware at the cost of each meal. There are 4 of us and we want 4 meals. Bring what I ordered and HOW I ordered it. The VERY next day... We were given 2 meals for 4 people - even though we ordered 4 meals. Again... We were not using the all inclusive package, we were paying for everything. So what is the big deal about giving me what I want to pay for. 3.) Do not try to check out late, because you have a later flight. We were told a 30min grace period for late checkout. We have never been told this at any hotel - especially, when we looked online and that still had rooms available. If you are sold out for the night, I completely understand. But they were NOT! 4.) The Sales Pitch after check-in: Waking up early, going to the airport, flying to Mexico, going through customs, 45min ride to the hotel, waiting in the long check-in line, and you finally get your room key. What do you want to do next? Go to your room or pool or drinks? Nope! Sit down at their concierge for a sales pitch. This should be removed from the check-in process. Inform guests at check-in if they would like to book anything (spa, excursions, etc) concierge can be of assistance.

Playa grande is a super nice resort and had a ton of fun activities to do the entire time. No need to leave the resort the entire time if you don’t want to! Salma and Franco were great activity directors and there were a hand full of other fun staff members who all wore their masks the whole time.

The entertainment crew was fantastic. Valeria, Franco, Salma, Humberto, and Andrea thank you for making my vacation fun. There were always lots of fun activities and nighly theme nights. Ernesto and Ofelia in the Sports Bar were very good workers. They always gave us great service! The resort is beautiful and well taken care of. Adriana, the desk manager and Angel were extremely helpful.

I am a timeshare owner at PG and have been going for years. Was there this July with 7 friends and had an amazing time! For the first time, I tried the All Inclusive option and cannot believe I haven’t done this before! We drank and ate at the resort all week as well as walking into town too. But with COVID restrictions it was sometimes hard to get into places. We spent a lot of time at the adult pool and we were lucky to have Miguel taking care of us ever time! MIGUEL ROCKS!! He took such good care of us! He is such a hard worker and we were never waiting around for food or drinks.. he was very attentive and professional. He made out time there so special. We will be looking for Miguel when we return next July!! Thank you to everyone at PG for another amazing week...see you in 2022!
