My wife and I loved our 7-day stay at the Solmar resort in January 2023. The resort has a beautiful view of the ocean, beautiful sunsets, and is within a 5 min walk to the Marina.

We booked the all-inclusive for the week and it did not disappoint. First, all of the staff we interacted with were friendly and courteous. We especially appreciated Jorge, the very personable activities coordinator, for greeting us every morning and coordinating poolside activities from Yoga to Blackjack. Our concierge helped us book an awesome sunset cruise and kayaking/snorkeling outing.

The weekend Mexican Fiesta was a great experience, including a huge buffet of Mexican entrees and very interactive entertainment and prizes. I won a bottle of tequila!

Breakfast was absolutely delicious and service was outstanding. Mexican options like machaca scrambles and chilaquiles were my favs.

We spent several afternoons poolside enjoying a variety of tropical drinks and food options. The front desk provides a page-long list of included cocktails/beverages for those who want to explore new cocktails.

Dinner was also very nice, as we had different options at the upper bar & grill versus the beachfront restaurant. Everything we ate was good and the BBQ ribs were fabulous.

The rooms (we had a suite) were spacious and comfortable and located close to the pools and restaurants, so no long walks and elevators back and forth (rooms are accessible). Solmar Resort’s rooms are on two floors surrounding the pools/restaurants giving it a very relaxed and homey feel. Solmar offers other properties with rooms in large towers but we liked the feel of Solmar Resort.

Overall, Solmar Resort was a great experience at a great value and we are ready to book a return trip!

The hotel is very nice the excellent room!!! With a spectacular view Noe the concierge helped us organize our itinerary, his help was very good, the chef Efrén took me the woooo as well as the afternoon salonero and the bar. However the breakfast is not very good the coffee is very ugly and they did nothing to change the experience. All the time you hear breakfast staff complaining about the low season. The service at the front desk is also not good they are not friendly and have a bad service. They don't make you feel welcome. There's only one lady who rescues the service on the afternoon shift. I don't remember her name. The maid Zena and the garden and cleaning guys always greet with a smile that should happen with the Front staff. The buttons that greeted us excellent.
Thank you all.

Solmar was closed last year (2020) so it’s employees transferred to sister-resorts. When Solmar reopened, only staff who chose specifically to return did so creating the most amazing team.

From responsive booking with Noe, checking in with Abraham, & Jorge handling our luggage we were welcomed & taken care of right away.

The rooms all have gorgeous views & comfy beds. We were greeted with champagne & chocolate dipped strawberries the first day too. We stayed in both the adorable cabana studio & then room 2353 which has 1bdrm with king bed, separate living room, kitchenette, 2 bathrooms, 3 balconies. Housekeeping surprised us with towel-animals each day & we were sent a dessert platter our last day wishing us safe travels home.

The main restaurant, the Tejaban, offers consistently delicious meals with indoor & outdoor seating. They rotate the menu so it doesn’t get repetitive (we never had a bad meal choice & left very full) but the staff is what make it top notch. Margarita took special care of us each night with attention to detail & remembered all our favorites from day to day. Uriel, Diana, Miguel, Eric, Jose Louis 1 (morning), Jose Louis 2 (evening), & Suzanna all made each meal memorable.

We spent several days lounging by the main pool/hot tub & discovered they have a separate menu poolside with tons of delectable finger-food choices in addition to the swim up bar. Gerardo & Arturo are two of the hardest working waiters keeping everyone poolside happy & walking miles each day. There is a sushi bar & wood fire pizza near the pool area as well as daily entertainment led by the charismatic Ariel.

Up at the 2nd quiet pool is another food choice, the grill, that preps food on the charcoal coals & was soooo good. There is also a separate full bar up there where Daniel serves up strong & tasty drinks.

Every Saturday they put on a fiesta with a buffet dinner, mariachi performers, & dancers representing different areas of Mexico. It was a surprising full length show and we were so impressed! All of the food, drinks, & entertainment was included in the all inclusive package price & I highly recommend paying for the all inclusive.

The beach is not safe for swimming but there is plenty of gorgeous sand to walk along & enjoy. The arts & craft market is a 10 minute walk away into the marina or if you nee a car just mention it & they will arrange a ride for you anywhere around Cabo in just minutes. The Solmar exceeded our every expectation. We can not wait to go back!

This is a dated and expensive time share facility.
The accommodation is dated to say the least, and is the only place in which I have ever stayed worldwide where you have to pay for the water in the room.
The grounds are well laid out externally and there are two pools, one by the beach which are well laid out, however as this appears to be mainly a time share facility the main effort has been applied to the external, the grounds are clean and well looked after. It must also be noted that the grounds are expansive and your room may be a trek from the beach and beach pool.
As this mostly appears to be time share facility, the rooms on the other hand are terribly dated, ours was labelled as a King Room "sea view" which to be fair it had, mainly due to being on the fourth floor and it was spacious and clean however there the positives mostly ended.
Our bathroom was antiquated and the small bottle of warm water on the kitchenette table was not complementary as one would expect, indeed on close inspection, it was priced at $ 2.75, I believe the coffee in the room was costed at circa $ 8. We also had a dark little kitchenette with the room for self catering, as previously stated unless you are on an all inclusive the cost of food and drink in the grounds are prohibitive.
The location of the hotel is a good walk up a hill from Cabo and the people trekking said hill on a daily basis with packages of food was depressing to view.
In short, unless you are on an all inclusive package and are willing to spend most of your holiday on site, I would say you' would find better value and facilities elsewhere.
First sales pitch on arrival at the impressive reception will be to get you to upgrade to an all inclusive package, which either tethers you to the place or mostly forces you to trek up and down to Cabo for everything. The small shop at the end of the hill was a staple for most people.
Depending on where your room is you may be a stroll from the beach which is private but the sea may not be used due to strong waves and currents. A massage at the seaside spa facility will cost you circa 3 times what you will get the same service for elsewhere.
I agree with a previous reviewer who stated that most effort appears to have been put into the more upmarket and possibly privately owned adjoining hotel located on the same grounds. Noise migration can be an issue at times.
Far to expensive and depressing time share facility for what you get and far better value / satisfaction elsewhere in my opinion.

I would 100% recommend NOT to stay here. We stayed 4 days and had issues with the rooms constantly. I had booked 5 rooms and the hotel decided to upgrade us to a 6 person suit, which was nice. But, I had confirmed multiple times with the front desk that we would still get our 5th room for our friends flying in a day late. The day of, I went to go and check my friends into their room and the front desk completely back tracked on everything that was agreed upon the day prior. They said we didn’t get our 5th room and would have to pay. We got into a conflict the manager, Michael. He was telling us that the woman at the front desk never said anything about our 5th room and that when we checked in we were being loud and partying so she didn’t understand what was said. Even though I had paid for 5 rooms and should still get the 5 rooms regardless of the upgrade, he kept insisting that he could do that. He was so rude and blamed everything on us. He ended up having us leave the suit and move into two regular rooms and at one point followed us to tell us that we had to get out of the suit as soon as possible because it needed to be cleaned.
Another issue was that the air conditioner went out in one of the rooms and they couldn’t get it fixed. They gave the girls fans to put in the rooms, because they said they had no other rooms available, unless they wanted to pay $600 for an upgraded room. The AC never got fixed.
Other than Michael the manager being awful and the room issues, the staff at the restaurants were so nice and accommodating! Alfredo at the bar was the best!

I am sorry for the confusion that occurred with your reservation and the reception staff, our intention was to join two of your reservations in our two-bedroom penthouse as an upgrade, we did not consider that you would need the five separate rooms, as soon as you let us know Due to the number of people, it was granted as requested. My husband and I chose to spend our honeymoon at the Solmar Resort after a recommendation by my parents who had celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary there. We have previously stayed at resorts including the Rui Santa Fe, Breathless, and the Rose, however, staying at the Solmar was a more intimate side of Cabo that we have never experienced before which was perfect for our honeymoon occasion. From the start of our stay to the very end, we were in awe of every amenity the resort had to offer. The resort is so intimate, peaceful, and romantic as it sits on the Pacific side, away from the Marina, however, is only a short 15 minute walk to all the night life, public beaches, and shopping. The rooms had an authentic Mexican design and were extremely clean thanks to our wonderful maid, Diana, who made sure we had extra waters and towels every day. The food at the Tejaban was outstanding. My husband is a former chef at a country club and raved over the arrachera dish for dinner, while I ordered the seafood pizza almost everyday for lunch. The service and entire wait staff tended to our every desire. Isai was extremely knowledgeable on the ingredients and flavors of the dishes and always had the best recommendations, including the crab enchiladas and tres leches cake. Jorge had excellent customer service skills and made us a superb Mexican coffee on our last night in Cabo. The pool staff during the day was fantastic also. Tavi greeted us everyday with a smile and could make one delicious mojito. We enjoyed getting to know Arturo who always made sure we were well taken care of. Thank you to everyone who worked the breakfast shift; our coffee mugs were never empty and saying good morning to everyone was a great way to start our day. Could not compliment the staff at the Solmar enough. They went above and beyond to guarantee we had a wonderful stay.

My husband and I felt as though we had made new friends during our stay and cannot recommend this beautiful resort enough. It truly is a hidden Cabo gem and we cannot wait to return.

I was so excited to go to Solmar Resort but it was a disappointing.
There was no buffet and I can't say we had a good meal. We had to sign for EVERYTHING even though we were all inclusive and the service, especially at breakfast, was slow.
The rooms were clean but dated. Don't drink any of the bottled water provided in the room or you will be charged.
There were no pool towels at the pool and we didn't receive any after the 4th day there. Luckily we brought our own.
Leaving was nuts Don't expect a free shuttle to the airport. The taxi costs $90 US dollars and the shuttle is $21 a person. We ended up getting an Uber for $38.
Covid tests were done for $12 a person and I found out other resorts were doing them for free to their customers.
There is no bar to just sit at and have a drink. We went to the Grand Solmar for their entertainment and bar but that, again, was another cost out of pocket.
I guess I was just assuming there would have been some night life or even entertainment but it was dead. No entertainment besides a guy there during the day making tye dye shirts (for a price) and playing music.

Dear valued guest: Our commitment is to provide our guests with the best possible experience, we are sorry to hear that this has not been the case. Due to security measures, buffet-style food is limited, drinks in your all-inclusive package are unlimited, including water; however, Evian water in rooms as well as canned coffee are extra amenities and are indicated by their labels. There are enough pool towels in your room and your maids replace them every time you use them. We certainly do not have free transportation to the airport; however, we have arranged low-cost shuttle transportation under a certain program. Similarly, to avoid inconvenience to our guests, we have made arrangements for covid tests to be done within the Resort, avoiding you leaving the property and looking for a laboratory on your own, they are certainly not free since they represent a cost. Again, we thank you very much for your preference and we hope to have the honor of your visit again and take the opportunity to provide you with a better experience that changes your current perception. 1st visit to Los Cabos for our anniversary. Check in was smooth and concierge Pati was informative, a 1.5 hour breakfast/time share presentation is offered with decent activity discounts if interested. Excellently maintained landscape and facilities very clean. Alert! bottled water left in your room cost $2.25 each. Skip and pick up water at restaurant or grill for free if you are all inclusive. We found the all inclusive worth it, menu items were very good to excellent. Taby at the grill was so pleasant. Tejaban restaurant was excellent & meticulously clean. Hostess Margarita and Diana great service and beautiful people (thank you both) and also great staff, thanks to Owen at the pool bar you make the best mango margarita with chamoi, thanks to Jose Luis 1 & 2, Susana, Rufi, Israel, Arturo, Gerardo, and Joshua great wisdom and work ethic in this staff. Very Impressed by them in our 4 days here. Alert! Beach and views are gorgeous but do not swim there dangerous rip tide and rogue waves, keep your distance and enjoy just getting your feet wet. Many swimmable beaches nearby via Uber or taxi. Many attractions within 15 min walk or 30 min drive ask around everyone in staff is helpful. I definitely will return, thanks again to staff for a memorable vacation.

Solmar Resort continues to be provide an excellent vacation year after year! The staff from the General Manager down to the gardeners is the same year after year and they are what keep us coming back! Every single staff member goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome and to make sure our every need is met. The property is old Mexico meaning lots of tile, nothing is “square”, furniture is worn; but it is well maintained and very clean. The beds are the best ever. The All Inclusive is well worth it! We would like to give special mention to the staff that made our vacation so special, but the list would go on and on and on. They each deserve special mention.

Solmar resort has a great location on a private beach (no vendors but other hotels) at the tip of the Baja. Since it is on the Pacific side at the tip of the Baja no swimming is allowed due to rip tides.

The busy, lively marina area and downtown is a 15 minute walk from Solmar. Solmar is a quiet respite from the crazy downtown.

We have been going for eleven years and are booked for next year. It is an easy and relaxing vacation.

My husband and I went on our honeymoon in Cabo in May 2022 and we stayed at Solmar Resort. We weren't interested in the time share deals, and some were pushed throughout our stay, but we enjoyed this resort so much. The Solmar Resort is the least expensive and extravagant of the Solmar group, but my husband and I both loved the architecture and layout of our room and of the entire resort itself- it felt the most authentically-Mexican in its layout and in the way it was decorated and we loved that very much. Our room also had a balcony that was private with high walls and overlooked the pool below and gave a stunning view of the nearby mountains and the ocean. There are plenty of activities led by super fun and inclusive staff throughout each day. The staff as a whole is attentive and caring and they made us feel like family, greeting us at meals and remembering our names and that we were honeymooners. They even made special accommodations for us at their restaurant in order to make our stay more memorable. The food was delicious at every meal, and having several different restaurants to choose from helped us have a good amount of variety throughout our stay. The resort is also walking distance from the downtown area where there are are places to shop, affordable restaurants with delicious authentic Mexican food, and many other things to see and do. The ocean is too dangerous to swim, so beach access right outside the resort is minimal. But if you're down for adventure like we are, you could climb some rock bluffs down the beach and get to the calmer bayside beaches. The concierge was INCREDIBLE, he was always available to us for our questions and really helped us immensely throughout our stay, making sure that we were hooked up with all of the excursions that we were interested in and making sure that all our questions were answered, as this was our first time in Mexico as a whole. The resort even has a bus and shuttle service that transported us to most of our excursions, and the others were close enough to walk to! We loved our stay and would very much enjoy to go back again sometime.
