I just spent 6 nights at this place, my basecamp on the Cabot Trail. It is a terrific place to spend a night or several, located a short drive from several great hikes, a walk to a beautiful beach, whale watching and a great seafood restaurant (the rusty anchor). I was very impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of Dawn,...

The hostel has very familiar atmosphere with a very supportive staff. The bathrooms have enough space and were very clean. Apart of the dorm the general rooms were very convenient and also clean. I felt very sorry to leave that nice hostel so early.

I stayed here with my girlfriend in July 2012. Nice, clean hostel. Cooked lobster on the deck with pots and stove provided by the hostel. Quick walk to the beach and whale watching. Would definitely stay there again!

I was the only guest when I arrived. I was even the only human in the hostel : you have to call the owner and she'll be here for the Check-in a few minutes later. Another guest arrived half an hour later and the owner left the place. Then, i spent a good evening with the other guest (outside, the...

The place seemed vacant with the manager always absent. Dawn was always gone. The common computer is the slowest I've seen. Bring your own laptop. Kitchen area is large and clean. Good place to visit but don't count on anyone being around.

We were doing a day hike to the polletts cove and after a long 8hour-hike we were tired and looking for a bed to stay for the night. Unfortunately the hostel was fully booked, but we could at least put our tent in the garden and use the hostels facilities and eat some dinner there. Very friendly stuff and perfect...

I recently went to canada and stayed at the Cabot Trail Hostel. I was was amazed at the information Dawn gave me. She advised me what to look for to see whales surfacting.. (which i did).. and the best way to get to Gampo Abbey via hiking trail.. not just parking in the lot and arriving with a busy brain....

We were 2 families together, totalling 12 people, and we could take advantage of the whole 3 rooms of the main building. So we'd almost enjoy the privacy of the 2 kitchens, the whole dining room, etc. We booked for 1 night but we finally stayed 2 nights since it was so affordable and fitting our needs. On the way...

It was great having you stay with us, I really enjoyed meeting you all. I hope that you enjoyed the rest of your trip and wonder if you saw any more Moose on your way back through the Cape Breton Highlands after leaving Pleasant Bay. Best Wishes and hope to see you again sometime. Thank You, Dawn.

After staying at the Cabot Trail Hostel on a number of occasions I wasn't lying when I said I thought about selling all my assets and moving to this hostel permanently. This place just makes you feel at home. The location is great as it is right in the middle of the Cabot Trail and offers some amazing opportunities in...

A big thank you to Dawn, she made our stay a fun and relaxed. The hostel itself is very clean and well organized, everything you could need really. Keep up the great work Dawn! PS - The gruelling hike into Pollett's Cove was well worth it! Mike
