Stayed for three nights. The hotel is situated in a pretty and small Devon village, approached by very narrow winding lanes, and about five minutes from a pleasant beach. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was really good but pricey. The bedrooms facing the front suffer badly from noise with people just below the windows laughing...

Great place to stay, fabulous food. Lovely walk to the beach. The journey down to the village is through narrow lanes but on arrival it was somewhere to relax. The staff were friendly and the service was great.

From the moment you arrive down narrow country lanes, you know this place is going to be special. Just the look of the place makes you look forward to your stay. There is olde world charm to the bar, which serves some great beer, and on a sunny day, the outside offers seating, some of it quite private. The room...

Loved loved loved this place....having been born and brought up in the area it was a wonderful base to share some childhood memories with my partner and mother in law. The bar is well stocked with some good local beers alongside some St Austell favourites. The space is inviting and a typical modern approach to a traditional inn...food takes priority...

Stayed 3 nights in a room in the main building, not cottage room. Reasonable size room, comfortable bed & OK bathroom. BUT, red carpets on stairs and in room ingrained with dirt, area under the TV table had not been vacuumed for weeks and a layer of dust was on some surfaces. Bed linen though clean had been clumsily and...

We stayed one night in a cottage room. The room was expensive as it was very small and the bathroom was bijou to say the least. Having said that we felt we could overlook this as the hotel had a great atmosphere and was set in a wonderful unspoilt location. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We couldn't fault...

We have just had a 3 night stay in this delightful old inn and a stunningly beautiful village. Scenery is pure delight. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestling in the heart of Branscombe, one of Britain's most picturesque villages, is the award winning, 14th Century, The Masons Arms. This charming thatched Inn dates back to 1350 - a cider house turned country pub - and the men who cut the stone for Exeter Cathedral drank here, hence the name. With only a leisurely ten minute stroll to Branscombe Beach, The Masons Arms offers an ideal base to escape the stresses of modern life and enjoy the magical vista of sea, beaches and the spectacular walks offered by the ninety five miles of Devon and Dorset's Jurassic Coast. The authentic interiors ooze character with timber frames, low beamed ceilings, pine cladding, whitewashed walls and a huge roaring log fire. Our award winning Restaurant offers an exciting and creative menu in relaxed fine dining surroundings. The Masons Arms kitchen brigade are dedicated to sourcing the very best of local Dartmoor produce. The cooking is classy yet simple, perfect for a special meal or relaxing Country lunch. We serve as many as six locally brewed bitters and the finest wines from around the world. The 21 bedrooms at the Masons Arms Branscombe, are cosy, stylish and inviting, blending comfort with character. The Masons Arms has been awarded a FOUR STAR rating under the Inn category by Quality in Tourism. ... more   less
