We visited today and the taxi driver was friendly, we were greeted by friendly staff and the whole experience was amazing. We rode an elephant first and it’s apparent the staff/handlers are very passionate about their work. The elephants are well cared for and seem happy in their environment. We fed them, washed them and was able to add swimming onto our day, take swimmers with you just in case.

We came here for the elephant park, a single day ticket including elephant ride. We had the pleasure to ride fatima and see her small one. An amazing welcoming staff. Highly recommended, although we did not like picking the elephant with a stick, but we were told and shown that it is not harmful

I first visited the park 25 years ago when it had only just opened. I have an immense affinity with these wonderful animals and a long history with animal welfare. If I thought for one second, they were experiencing any kind of mistreatment, I would not support the park. This is not the case and whilst I would rather see all animals remain in the wild sadly for the 30 odd elephants here it is not possible. For anyone visiting the park, please read this and be aware before making any assumptions about the care and treatment of the elephants. 1. Sumatran Elephants are one of the worlds most endangered and actually considered critical. Their habitat is being destroyed at an alarming rate with over two thirds of it lost now due to human conflict and palm oil industry. All elephants other than the babies born in this park have been rescued from working camps where they are badly treated and suffer horribly. Is it ideal, definitely not but there is no other option and I believe that Mason’s is trying to do their best by these majestic creatures. 2. Yes, they are chained to pads where they feed and sleep. This is recommended due to some bullying others for food. If you see an elephant swaying. This is learned behavior and trauma from before they were rescued. All elephants also have plenty of free roaming time away from the annoyance of the public. 3. All elephants in the park have their own trainer (mahout) who personally care for their charge. They share a deep love and care for them and in no way mistreat. 4. The park is regularly audited for animal welfare and always receive an outstanding approval for how well the elephants are cared for. 5. As the elephants are in captivity, they do not exercise their muscles and it has been proven that rides either bareback or in the chair does not hurt them but actually assists them in staying fit and healthy. This is a personal choice so if you do not believe in riding them then the option to wash them down which they love is available. I have ridden the elephants bareback into the lake but do not find the chairs particularly comfortable so always opt out of this. 6. The park does not receive any government assistance so relies solely on the money from tourists, lodge guests and the other activities Mason Adventures organises to ensure the ongoing viability of the park. 7. The elephants experienced a level of loss from lack of constant interaction during COVID leading experts to believe that they actually love the attention they receive from visitors. Their behavior changed dramatically and is only now starting to return to normal. I stayed at the park for the first time this trip and found the lodge immensely enjoyable along with the food. What annoyed me the most was the W.O.K.E visitors who seem to know nothing about animal welfare and just prefer to come into the park to make accusations. If you want to do something about it, stop buying products with Palm Oil, adopt an elephant but please do not hurl slanderous remarks at a park which is trying their best to create an environment which the elephants can live out their lives.

DO NOT GO HERE! THESE ANIMALS ARE ABUSED DAILY AND CONTROLLED. In the photo here this elephant was poked repeatedly by a nail to go underwater (make tourists like me believe he’s just playing). There are 30 elephants in here now who are forced to do these unnatural things with tourists day in day out. Poked every second and then chained all night separately. They are also chained when they are not carrying people on their backs or doing the ridiculous bathing which elephants don’t need humans to do. The manager lies thru her teeth and the park has setup such a thorough and colorful marketing campaign to make you believe any of this is okay. These elephants have about 40+ more years of life and it will be spent here in this tiny park doing the same controlled thing every single day of their life. They can’t roam freely, form bonds btw eachother without getting poked relentlessly to get back to their position and make money. THIS IS A CIRCUS NOT A SANCTUARY. If you truly have a heart - DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE! Be apart of the change to give these elephants a better life!

I’m not going to go into the ethics of this place. Although the park is not the perfect environment for elephants it is also a million times better from where they came from. That’s how we viewed it which is why we paid them a visit. With regards to the park once you’ve decided to go; driver pick up was prompt but a long drive from our hotel in Jimbaran (2hours). Once we checked in we were greeted politely by happy staff and told they would call us for activities in the feeding area. In general we enjoyed the day but we did find it badly organised and a bit of a free for all. Staff randomly shouting out names with no clear plan or structure to the day. Although I would point out the staff did ensure we did all our planned activities. The elephants in general all seemed ok, I didn’t see any unhealthy elephants or any miss treatment. Other reviews mention sticks etc that trainers have we didn’t see this at all. The elephants were chained when on their pads - sleeping eating or a rest day. The museum states this is a government requirement not something they wish to do. Only one elephant seemed to be swaying as other reviews have said. The trainer explained she has done it since the camps in Sumatra where she was rescued. The trainers love their elephants there is no doubt about that, the guys we spoke to have been with their own elephant for over 15 years and they seem to have a silent communication between the two of them. There is free food to feed elephants but unsurprisingly they prefer the food you pay 50k/basket for. In an ideal world I would like them to move away from the bathing and rides and focus more on the feeding and washing, perhaps even mucking out. Something more around “keeper for the day” rather than the perfect photos. But sadly they don’t get government funding and tourists are more likely to pay for the perfect photo than anything else. Food in the restaurant was good and showers/toilets etc clean. We found the other areas of the park closed; nursery, art gallery, theatre, senic etc. so the visit was just the elephants. Trip home ruined by the taxi driver, gave a low tip due to his worrying driving (not just Bali roads we’ve been on them every day, he was just a last minute breaker and nearly hit mopeds etc.) once he saw the tip he said something to the hotel staff as we walked to the pool. He then chased us to the pool demanding more money in his tip. Given the price we had paid for the whole day this didn’t leave us feeling great about the company as a whole.

Visited as a day trip from Ubud, but it was not a good visit for our families with kids (5 & 6). Staff was more interested in serving the Instagram crowd than making it a good experience for everyone. Very disappointed, recommend skipping it.

This place is not as popular as it should be. When people talk about Bali, this needs to come up. I only came across it when I purposely searched “elephants in bali”. 1. The hotel itself is very comfortable, clean rooms, nice restaurants with great cocktails, breakfast etc. so even if you don’t like elephants, it’s a great “hotel / resort”. Different and better experience than a villa to be honest 2. The elephants are a PLUS!!! You have activities where you can bathe and wash and swim with the elephants. You’re one on one with them and very CLOSE up. You can get your once in a lifetime photos with elephants (not through a fence) but sitting on / standing by/touching them. You can choose a room that lets you see elephants through your balcony. This place is magical Also, you don’t have to lodge here, you can come in for just the elephant activities. But if lodging (which I advice- it’s great)- you get discounts for the activities. 3. Their customer service is GREAT. free welcome drinks, nice staff. In summary, everyone going to Bali should visit this place. They take credit cards (which is a huge plus in Bali) and they can organize a ride for you to other parts of town at a very reasonable price. PS- I wasn’t paid for this review. My visit with them wasn’t sponsored either. This is all just honest review.

Elephants are man’s best friends and the most innocent creatures on earth ! I recently visited mason elephant park lodge with my mother and got a chance to stay at The only dedicated Elephant Park in Bali where you can see, feel, bathe, wash, rider and feed elephants set among lush tropical botanical gardens. The best part is excellent hospitality right from the check in to check out we had dedicated assistance from the staff and we were well informed about what to do next ! Our itinerary was well planned right from the cutest elephant taxi which took us to the dinner venue to the safari under the stars ! The morning wishes by the elephant’s trumpet and cute smiles ! Bathe and binge with the elephants was the cutest ! Not to forget that princess feels that I got when the cutest elephant put a floral necklace in my neck and I gave her a peck on her cheeks ! The baby elephant Krisna played with me a lot and waved us good bye until we meet next time ! Some of the most memorable experiences that I really want to thank Mason Elephant safari park and lodge are “firstly the best ever ELEPHANT TAXI pick and drop “ Secondly the “ Soulful ambience with the perfect eco friendly interiors and cute little notes in the room “ “Something for everyone is there in this place like my mom cannot walk that much and swim too but she loved washing the elephants and feeding them ! Not to forget , every time you stay here , your stay contributes to the great cause associated with this place that’s saving these innocent animals ! So next time you are in Bali , this place should be on your top ten places to be at !

we went there with the idea that the elephants had been saved and were doing very well, but we saw the complete opposite! the elephants have many signs that they are uncomfortable and have it bad, including shaking their heads back and forth and stiff tails that stand to the side. even though the place says that riding the elephants is fine, it's not, elephants are not made to be ridden! in addition, they make more babies there that they plan to keep in captivity for life just to make money! the elephants are poked to keep control over them and tied up in a small area for many hours a day!! do not recommend, steer clear!! very disappointing!
