Had recently been stayed at Spice Lap resort at Thekkady.
The rooms were very nicely built and good landscape. Clean rooms, spacious toilets.
Dinner served was not of very good quality and not much of options. They called it Gala dinner for 24th Dec night (Christmas) and charged extra 1200 INR per person irrespective of having dinner included in our plan. That was unjustified as the menu for gala dinner was very normal & we had more options in other normal hotels.
Overall good resort, needs to improve on fooding options.

It truly justifies its name. Surrounded by lush green land & resides in nature's lap.
As I was travelling with my mom(senior citizen), we drove from Munnar to Thekkady which is approx 3hrs long drive. To avoid any unhygienic layover, we decided to check in early to our stay here, just to freshen up and go ahead for our activities in Thekkady. As soon as we entered, we were welcomed by a local welcome drink, and the front desk staff & the in house staff were so helpful & accomodating, inspite of arriving way before the check in time they allotted us the room without any delay. These minor hospitality gestures makes the stay pleasant ☺️

Mind-blowing property🤩🥰

Great hospitality😇

Good food 👍

We spent 4 nights at Spices lap .The restaurant really let this hotel down. The menus were tatty and dirty and the staff although friendly did not have the confidence or personalities to welcome guests. The restaurant had an a la carte menu and a buffet. The Hotel was very quiet however the buffet had too much food prepared and staff kept bringing more food out to already full containers. No attention to detail or love put into the food preparation or presentation. We resorted to buying snacks in the shops or ate out a few times. In addition reception staff, although friendly , were not able to answer questions and had to contact the manager for answers to our questions. The pool is poor. It's situated away from the main hotel and no staff available. You have to walk to reception to be told someone will bring you a towel and then you have to return to the pool and wait 10 minutes for a towel. The pool area is neglected, the changing areas/ toilets were dirty. On the 3rd day it was Valentines day and a number of guests were booking into the hotel and we were asked to move rooms as the room we were in was booked out to someone else. We were told we had an upgrade. The room we were given had some particularly dirty areas with black sticky tape marks on light switches and the plastic around the jets on the spa bath were mouldy and black.
There is a noticeable absence of management at this hotel and we felt that this is the down fall of this hotel .

Spice lap is a very interesting resort for people who want to explore an authentic Kerala style stay with a massive swing in the bedroom and 200 year old doors and locks. They even have a swimming pool and spa as well, but they are closed for now due to Covid 19.

The service provided by the staff was on point and the food was good, yes they do the food on order and what ever you ask for in the available ingredients and yes they serve it to you as your comfort to the room or you can go to the restaurant as well. The property has 20 odd cottages and is barely 2 years old. One particular mention which is special is that you have free wifi available everywhere throughout the property, even in your rooms which is pretty fast and uninterrupted.

The staff is very accommodating and help you out in the smallest of the things like bringing you an all-out or a mortein before you realise there are insects everywhere. A speacial mention to Renjith who was very helpful to us in many ways like by guiding us to take a better route than what Google showed us to a particular place and even upgraded our standard heritage room to a private studio room with a swing and a view.

It's located just 23kms away from Thekkady and the drive from the resort to thekaddy is just breathtaking. The resort is right on the State highway of Kerala from Munnar to Thekkady so that's a boon.

Just stayed a night before heading to Kovalam. We stayed in Heritage room and room is very compact and noisy. Both neighbors were too loud and had to complain the manager twice but no luck. Next day kids were sleeping throughout the day during the travel to catch up last night sleep.May be other types room may have good experience as they were isolated. Property is small and located bit away from Thekkady town / attractions.

Words fall short to explain how happy we are after staying at SPICES LAP, THEKKADY. Travelling from USA with our son and Daughter in Law(DIL), we couldn't have found a better place than this. Right from the Check-In, Mr. Renjith & his team ensured that our stay is as comfortable as this could be away from home. They have been paying attention to the minutest of details to make our stay most memorable. The well trained team of staff was a bell's away. Delicious food, away from home was a treat that too at a very very nominal price. We had a very friendly welcome from Mr. Renjith & his team, professionals to the core. Each and every need was looked at and we were made to feel so much at home. Their professionalism is at par with any Star Hotel. Their staff would do everything to help us and make us feel comfortable. We would highly recommend this place if you would like great service as this was important to us.The place is in a very lovely surroundings and the hosts went out of their way to help us whenever we required anything. We will highly recommend this place when travelling for a holiday or business in Kerla. Thanks again Mr. Renjith for your professionalism. Keep up the good work and we look forward to come back again.

It is a very nice retreat for families in spacious bungalows at good prices. The staff is very supportive and during your stay most communication can be held via WhatsApp to make planning very easy. Especially Mr Renjith had been extremely supportive. To the Periyar Tiger Reservoir it is about 30 minutes drive, and good to stay a bit distant frontje touristy area.
