We stayed at the Belmond Casa Sierra Nevada for three nights while in San Miguel de Allende for a wedding. Our room was spectacular, with a private patio that had a "mini-pool," a bathroom with a beautiful hammered copper and tin tub (along with a big, shower), very comfortable king-size bed and a nice sitting area. The service was impeccable... More

Great place for drinks. We had cocktails and tapas. Perfect setting, good service and delicious food. What else do you need? Nice wood burning fire place. Shrimp cocktail was amazing kind of ceviche in a cocktail glass. Fish tacos were good too.

This is a wonderful, and unique property only a couple of blocks from the main plaza and the church which has most of the weddings. The hotel consists of multiple buildings, actually renovated homes. My room was a suite with a fire place in two of the rooms. From the street one opens a door an enters an open courtyard.... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this charming, unique hotel fashioned from a couple of old mansions in the exceptionally beautiful town of San Miguel de Allende, a few hours north of Mexico City. The hotel, supposedly the first "boutique" hotel in Mexico, has been owned for the last 10 years by the luxury chain Belmond (the former Venice Simplon... More

San Miquel de Allende hasn't changed much since I was there some 20 years ago-and the folks who know about this beautiful place keep it a secret! Leave fancy shoes at home as cobblestone streets need good walking (or hiking) ones. Is a colonial, Mexican city w/ churches and garden in City Square. Belmond, of Orient Express fame, owns this... This was our second visit to Casa de Sierra. The first was many years ago, when it was a Orient Express property. The hotel has not lost any of its luster, but it did feel like the service was more on-point under the Orient Express. This is a great, historic property in a wonderful location. You will think you are... More

Incredibel place, 2 blocks from the plaza, nice restaurant, staff is the best!!! Kids friendly. Let them light your fireplace! Eat at Los Tres, inside the Mesones hotel Shop at Casa Cohen. Eat Churros with MARGARITA Gralia.

Very nice, little hotel that has all the belmond amenities while keeping a great local feel of San Miguel. Perfect location. Helpful staff. Good breakfast which we had everyday at hotel. Plan to stay at least four days because there so much in such a small town!

We stayed at this hotel for a wedding and I was quite furious at checkout when I realized that they added a 10% service charge on the room rate. I wonder what service the surcharge provides as I barely saw any any staff - oh sorry, I did use a bellboy and the valet park (another extra at 200 pesos... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada is a mixture of 16th to 18th century Spanish colonial buildings, located one and one-half blocks from the cathedral and main city square of San Miguel de Allende. Its 37 rooms and suites are spread amongst six colonial mansions. Each casona, or mansion, which features five to seven guest rooms or suites, is unique. Many feature outdoor courtyards with fountains, small gardens and al fresco corridors. Guests do not have the feeling of being in a hotel at all. Rather, they are integrated into the town itself, making for a true cultural immersion. ... more   less
