Old Courtyard Hotel is an authentic old Portuguese styled mansion centrally located in Fort Cochin. It has been renovated into a heritage hotel with 8 rooms suiting the architecture of the building. The rooms are furnished in colonial antique furniture on original wooden floors. All rooms are air conditioned, rooms have attached bathrooms, and we provide free wifi, laundry, travel desk. We have added a Jacuzzi pool to the guests to cool down. As a nine room property, we try to make the guests' experience more personalized with staff always ready to help.
Our motto is that Fort Cochin is your Kitchen. We are surrounded by many options of where and what to eat. But if you feel like dining in , you can bring in or order food and have it at the lounge or Garden wherein you'd be provided with cutlery and crockery.
This is a very private place only for room guests.
Very centrally located to wherever you want to go in Fort Cochin.
Come and stay with us and enjoy the privacy and calm.
Manager Paul and rest of the staff very friendly and extremely helpful. Room is clean and very comfortable. Great location, many cafe/restaurants around for breakfast/lunch/dinner etc. Pool is a great extra.
Be careful when you book this hotel. they promise a full refund and when you cancel, they take out 4.5% of the payment. so called admin fee. I had to cancel and I am still trying to get the full refund ! very sneaky and god knows what else is in the small print.
We are 3 friends currently staying at the hotel. 2 nights done and 1 to go. We have booked the suite and the geyser was not working on the first day. It got repaired after complaining twice and the AC has stopped working on day 3. We promptly complained to the staff at the reception but he did not take any action. When we got back from dinner at 11, he just laughed it off and did not move from his desk. We then had to call the manager who was absolutely unaware and refused to acknowledge the fact that his staff has goofed up. We have been told that nothing can be done so we would need to suffer through the night. This, after having done full payment in advance. Absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable.
Nice, heritage hotel located at Princess street, Cochin. The beach is at a walking distance and has many nearby options for dinner. I stayed here for one night on Christmas eve. The room was spacious with wooden flooring, AC, antique table, wooden almirah. The bathroom was big too with 24 hour hot water and toiletries. Few points to remember: No covered parking, provisions for driver The hotel does not cook, but they allow outside food in the premises (but not in rooms) Quite far from airport Overall decent stay
As I was recouperating from an illness, I opted for a deluxe double for more room and a sitting area with fridge. Though they seem to be located on the wing facing Princess Street, the street noise dropped drapatically after 10 p.m. This property was restored, rather than fully renovated, so some things may be limited....like spare outlets for chargers. Easy enough to unplug one bedside light for a charger. Lighting may be a little dim for any digital nomads. Restoration also meant when something goes wrong, it may take more effort to fix it. There became a problem with water to shower and taps for some rooms. I had water initially, but next morning...none. They were prompt to bring me a pitcher of water for hand washing, and within a couple of hours, they found a plumber to work on Diwali. After some head scratching and efforts, it was clear my room was going to require extensive work. They moved me up one floor and there was minimal impact to my stay. There was some noise while work was being done, but they kept me informed of expectations and apologized several times for the inconvenience...which it really wasn't. Having a pool available was great for me as I didn't leave the property for long. AC works well, beds are comfortable and location for convenience cannot be beat. However it also means you are in the thick of tuktuk driver sales pitches. The owner was quick to respond to some enquiries and the manager was always helpful. The other staff were also helpful and quick with smiles and greetings. I appreciated the character of the place, feeling almost like a guest in someone's home. The location cannot be beat for getting around old Fort Kochi and finding things to do, buy or eat.…
We stayed at The Old Courtyard Hotel for 3 nights in February. It is a beautiful building with lovely rooms. The old wooden furniture and floors in the rooms add to its charm. The mosquito nets and air conditioning ensure it is always comfortable. The courtyard and small pool are good to return to after a days sughtseeing. The staff are so helpful and the food was great. Would love to return!
For the second time, The Old Courtyard excelled! Re-visited Cochin in January and was amazed that some of the staff and the owners remembered me. The addition of a spa pool in the courtyard is fantastic to soak in the sun and relax after a day of touring and work. Service is too attentive and to detail, offering a selection of herbal teas is most welcome and so is the lunch menu of the day. Had an excellent meal comprising of fresh vegetables in a home cooked style and the taste of the prawn curry still lingers! Thanks to all at the Old Courtyard for another great experience and shall re-visit in time. Keep up what you are doing and good luck to Rose and Jacob for maintaining a property with such consistence ! 5 *****
The Old Courtyard Hotel is in an excellent location and is an older style Hotel with heaps of character, it is an old Indo-Portuguese architectural building, the floorboards are huge, and the furniture is so comfortable. We found the staff to be very friendly and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. There are plenty of places to eat in the evening within walking distance, this hotel is in the centre of things in Fort Kochi, and an excellent place to stay. Not only are the hotel staff great but Meena at the Travel Desk is extremely helpful and knowledgeable, she made our stay all the more enjoyable. We can really recommend this hotel as a great place to stay.
Fort Kochi was very busy. It did tax my driving in India a little. People, motorbikes, tuktuks, cars. Fortunately I did get to park right outside the hotel. The hotel was beautifully presented, with a lovely room, and the courtyard had a small pool. We ate elsewhere in the evening, but had breakfast, which was sufficient, though not the best. Very friendly staff (as throughout our stay in India).
Really enjoyed our stay here, the best in Kochi after moving around between side trips. The staff were super friendly and cooked us our best meal in Fort Kochi. The room - spacious, clean, brilliant hot shower and v powerful (same as a Western power shower... 👍)! The pool was also great, nice and cool and super clean. 10/10 would make sure to go to this hotel again if I came back.
