I had the best night of sleep there. It settled me into loving merely "being." Very nice rooms, small hotel with a very pleasant atmosphere, enough amenities, very good restaurant, very good service, magnificent views, very nice walk along the Zipolite beach. And there are some other very nice restaurants nearby. Swimming is very limited as the waves and currents...

This hotel is awesome. It's at the far western end of Playa Zipolite, behind some rocks that give it the feeling of a private cove beach. We'd planned to check out various restaurants in town but the hotel's beachfront cafe was so charming and pleasant that we had almost every meal there. I also recommend the spa, where we had...

The location of the hotel is wonderful on a beautiful part of the beach. We had one of the higher bungalows and it was beautifully decorated, it was nice hearing the waves crashing at night very relaxing. Enjoyed sitting in the restaurant watching the world go by. The food was good for breakfast and lunch but had dinner that was...

Have eaten here many times. Food is superb. From apps to pizza, pasta and seafood dishes all are excellent and the setting is incredible on the beach within metres of the waves crashing! Two consecutive Valentines days, my girlfriend and I had very special meals there... can't beat the food or the ambience!!

One of the best places to stay in Zipolite bay. Is the best boutique hotel in this beach. If you want to stay here, you have to arrange reservations several months before. I recommend you the rooms with beach view. The little details of each room make the difference between this and the others. They have one of the best...

I really shouldn't write this review ... and rather keep this place a secret ... all to myself. But, when a good thing is really a good thing, one should share with others. I've been going to El Alquimista and the gem of Zipolite since 2010 and I've got to say that this place it pure paradise. Whether you get...

This was our second time at the hotel and we love it. We went with a group of friends and had a great time. We stayed at a suite that has a big balcony with a large sofa and hammock. You could see the ocean and jungle. The a/c was a plus. It came with a small fridge. The entire...

My husband and I spent 10 wonderful days in one of the basic, beach front cabanas at El Alquimista. The bed was rather small but comfortable nonetheless and the pillows seemed to be good quality. We really enjoyed our shaded patio area with its lovely hammock and comfortable lounge chairs. The hotel is in a beautiful, sheltered area at the...

Loved everything about it. Staff, location, the town, the vibe. I would love to go back! One big but, the hotel doesn't have many beach beds and like any other hotel they are first come first served. The problem is that the hotel is very popular even among locals and they like to come in in groups and they take...

It was a spur of the moment trip and well worth it. We stayed in number 9, at the top. We did not have a beach view but could hear the waves thrashing on the rock formations. The room was very private with an outdoor shower. We also had our private terrace and garden with a sofa and hammock ....
