The earlier excellent reviews sum up the Old Manse perfectly. From arriving and Ian coming out to take our luggage and Mary providing fresh coffee and scones, this place exceeded all expectations. The room was terrific with views to two sides and had an exceelent bathroom. Breakfast on both days was equally as impressive - even Ian's homemade baked beans!...

You're too kind to suggest the weather was average - that weekend was unusually diabolical (we normally have much better weather than people give us credit for living so far north). Glad it didn't dampen your spirits and you had a good weekend.

My boyfriend and I stayed for one night whilst we were visiting Alnwick Gardens Restaurant. Mary and Ian were great hosts!! Very welcoming and friendly. The room was spotless and had everything you could need from a B and B including robes and slippers, and the bed was very comfortable! Breakfast was excellent and I would definitely recommend the full...

I was a pleasure to welcome you to the Old Manse and glad you enjoyed you stay. Don't forget it works out cheaper if you book direct (not through booking.com) and stay for more than one night.

It was good to try facilities in the area out of season. Mary and Ian are really good hosts-we stayed in the Ingram Suite and this had additional Christmas decorations. This suite is on the ground floor, very spacious. The bathroom has been improved since we came last time, having had a big shower cubicle installed. Towelling bathrobes and fresh coffee/tea/cakes...

Lovely to see you both again. I'm afraid the Victorians didn't give WiFi reception much of a thought when the Ingram Suite was originally built as a stable block in 1874.

Perfect service and very nice owners. Very good rooms with fantastic view. The breakfast was excellant, especially the "floddies". Only a short way to Alnwick. The wild cows close to Chillingham castle are only a few miles away.

Glad you agree that we are perfectly located twixt the sea, the hills and the towns. The Chillingham Wild Cattle are always a worth a visit although, being totally wild, you need a guide to find them.

Lovely people, beautiful rooms, excellent food and fabulous service. What more could you want.!! Such a treat to be welcome to stay in all day every day if you so wished in a B & B. So many extras provided , for instance freshly baked cakes left in your room for the evening. Masses of entertainment (games, puzzles and books...

Glad you enjoyed your stay. There is so much to see and do in North Northumberland, even on a (not too often) wet day, that very few guests have the change to get the games out - but they're there just in case.

This was the latest of several stays Ive had at the Old Manse Chatton. Following a friendly welcome I found my room to be immaculate and very well appointed, all with a high level of cleanliness. I enjoyed a very good nights sleep in a most comfortable bed covered in quality linen. Views from the east side of Old Manse...

Thanks for the suggestion of sprinkling golf leaf on the cereals - we have given the idea due consideration, but think it may interfere with some guest's fillings.

Another 4 great breakfasts from Ian and Mary. Our second stay at this very very good b&b all very good and nothing too much trouble. A fair bit of banter at the breakfast table with Mary. You know we will be back. M & M and Molly the westie.

We were looking for somewhere to stay to explore Northumbria, and found an absolute diamond of a B&B in The Old Manse. Ian and Mary are fabulous hosts, offering great advice on where to visit in the local area, along with superb breakfast, and tasty treats. We stayed in the Harthorpe Room, which had a very comfortable four poster bed...

Thanks for taking time to add your kind words. The Harthope Room is ideal for looking out from the double aspect windows across to the hills in the autumn sun, but safe from the autumn wind. Hope to see you back one day as four days is nor enough to explore Northumberland properly.

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome. Ian & Mary are great hosts -- kind, considerate & up for a laugh, but never fussing over you. They're both very knowledgeable about the area & provided us with lots of suggestions and maps. The house itself is beautiful & we really liked the room we stayed...
