We stayed at the top hotel, not the base. So we took a ski lift with our bags to get to the hotel, which was a nice experience in itself! Great view of the mountains around. One in our group did some skiing one day and enjoyed it a lot. The entire hotel was built in a very nice style with big wood logs, including the cabins with the rooms where we stayed. The breakfast was very basic, nothing impressive there, but the dinner food was great. The bed and pillows were good, and the entire hotel room was very nice! The shower had a bit of an issue with the pressure varying from one second to the other, but the heat was good. The service was good, either they've improved it recently or the older reviews here are overly negative.
The ski slopes are in ok condition, but the restaurant ia working at 30% capacity but the personnal at 5%. I waited 30 minutes for to be served and another 30 minutes to pay. But it seems this is ok for this place. You come to ski but you need pacience to eat, a lot of it.So what do you need to ski or to eat? The person from the picture is the one that made me wait... There are other ski slopes on a 20km radius.
Decent place, the food is tasty, except breakfast, which is poor and every day the same, so wouldn't recommend for longer stays. The bread is quite bad, not fresh and there's nothing (croissant, cracker) to have with your coffee (another major problem - the coffee machine - not one morning without it out of function). The rooms could have been cleaner and the hot water is a problem, because we had to wait each time 15 minutes in order to take a hot shower. The staff is a bit weird, trying to avoid customers.
Very slow service, they were able to communicate only in Romamian. Nobody was able to speak other foreign languages, like English, or German, or Russian, or Hungarian. Too much salt was put in the food.
The location is quiet, the accommodation conditions and the modest meal are worth 3 stars and at the Cota 1000 you can enjoy the perfect skiing, tubing for adults and children, strong wifi in all area, on Saturdays there is also DJ party and good music, boilers burning the fire, where you can warm up, traditional food and good will for all ages. On our YouTube channel: Dan & Beka journey, you can see a winter party video at Suior filmed in the feb month. 2019.
The food is reheated and some of it is not enough cooked. When I asked to se the manager they said he is very busy. Tipical Romanian, avoid this place,it is a nice place to visit but services are poor:((
I attended a conference at Base Suior (with participants also at Cota 1000) which was handled very professionally by the hotel staff, the rooms are clean, the food is good and the huge "tent" outside was excellent for our conference. All in all a very nice experience. I hope to come back to stay there a couple of days for vacation in the near future. Recommended!
I went there quite often and the place not only that is looks amazing but the view is great.the ski area is all new and performant and it's fitting for as well experts or beginners in all winter sports.as well they have a cute place on the lake where you can enjoy a good meal and live music during summer.the stuff is nice but the prices are a bit high .even so i would recommend it if you are in the area
Do you like mountains? This is the place. Amazing view, strong mountain air, good food. I highly recommend to my fellow Americans if they come to EUROPE. And also recommend to visit Maramures County. P.S. The roads are in very bad shape but what you will see worth it.
Base Suior is just OK with 3 small motel type buildings and a restaurant.Food is so and so and for a foreigner is decent in pricing but for a local can be expensive. Cota 1000 is another 3 cabanas very nice built and another white cabana housing the end of the ski lift with the motor inside (can be noisy inside the rooms because of that on operation time 10am-10pm).The biggest PROBLEM at Cota 1000 is the SEPTIC TANK located near the slope at the end of the ski lift(huge design mistake!).The smell especially in winter time when temperatures drop is terrible and goes back to the rooms in all cabanas and restaurant!!! The staff are spraying with strong odor deodorant to cover the smell but is IMPOSSIBLE to cover it and make it worst that septic tank odor and strog deodorant combination! Everybody from staff knows this problem and management every year says that next summer will fix the problem and nothing is done year after year.Such a pity for those nice buildings that you cannot enjoy them because of the smell in winter. The scenery is nice but you expect to breathe fresh air and you will smell the septic tank odor instead outside and inside the buildings. If you go skiing the slopes are nice and well groomed, food in any restaurant don't expect much ,Wi-Fi is OK in restaurants and base hotels and bad in Cota 1000 cabanas but good inside restaurant also staying at Cota 1000 can be a challenge-either is no smell if summer(staff said so) either you will sufocate if winter!! Hope they will do something about this anytime soon but it seems it is a design mistake and is very costly to fix it but they have to do it! If you have a car better stay in Baia Mare and go daily for skiing if winter(25-30 min drive) and at least you have several much better dinning options if in the city.…
