We had the best time at Green Palm Homes. They offer so many activities and they were all great. We learned a lot about the culture and had a wonderful time paddling through the backwaters on a kayak. Rooms were clean and spacious. Food was delicious and they always served so many different dishes, it was lovely to taste such a variety of home made food.
Green Palm Homes is the perfect location if you want to meet a lovely family, spend some time in the backwaters, all relaxed and quite but still enough activities that you will never be bored. Such an amazing place.

We had a wonderful stay at Green Palm Homes with Matthew, Maria and Thomas. After the hustle and bustle of Delhi and Rajasthan Green Palms was such a welcome place to unwind and enjoy the greenery of Kerala in peace and quiet.
It’s a perfect location for exploring some of the quieter corners of the backwaters by foot, canoe or boat and the family are more than happy to help with advice and guidance on where to go (both locally and beyond).
We had tasty home cooked food for each meal and afternoon chai hearing stories and information about the local area from Matthew and were so well looked after the whole time we were there.
Another highlight was the guided walk with Thomas around the village and fields on the island and hearing more about life in the backwaters and their history, finished off with some firefly spotting in his garden!
It is such a beautiful spot to relax and soak up some Keralan nature (and food!) in a wonderfully kind and attentive family setting.

Is a group of houses who have got together to create homestays . We stayed with Thomas and his family in his almost museum like house . We had a room on the top floor and there are four rooms here , if you can get one at the front there’s a lovely balcony overlooking the river .

Thomas was especially helpful , he instructed us on where to go for walks , we hired bikes from his neighbour to go to the local village and he took us bird watching a subject on which he is very knowledgeable and was ver Ly interesting even if your not a twitcher !

The food was very good and breakfast - lunch - and dinner were all prepared by his wife and served by his daughter . All very tasty local foods .

To enjoy the Homestay you have to put into it , take the bird watching walk, go for a walk to the village , take the kayaks through the backwaters , if you patriciate you will really love this place …..we did !!!

Excellent location, amazing food, clean rooms with the most friendly family. I was there for a week and they provided home cooked meals, locally sourced. The activities are not to miss. Evening walk with canoe ride was exceptional, coming back in the dark with folk songs. I hired, kayak and motor boat which helped me go through the small canals, seeing the true life of the back waters, cooking lessons, also had ayurvedic massage. Visited the near by town. Lot to explore. Overall the best and suggest not to miss this place.

Me and my partner spent three perfect days at Thomas and Laly's place. We had a small bungalow to ourselves set just off the main house with beautiful views out onto the paddy fields. The setting is incredible, with water on one side of the property and fields and lush vegetation on the other three.

Thomas and his family are wonderfully thoughtful, kind and friendly people, and I think it's fair to say that our stay with them was one of the highlights of our trip to Kerela. Laly's food was incredible and we looked forward to every meal time-true home cooking at its finest.

Thomas made our trip very special and went out of his way to arrange nature walks, trips out for the day and even the use of a kayak for an afternoon on the water. His knowledge of the local area, plants and animals really bought everything to life and we both learned so much during our stay.

Faultless from start to finish and we couldn't reccomended it any more highly. Lee and Kat.

My wife and I spent four wonderful nights hosted by Mathew at Green Palm Homes. Mathew was the perfect host, preparing delicious food, taking us on guided walks, showing us the local wildlife, and even singing a traditional song as he paddled us back along the river one evening. His mother Anna also made us very welcome and gave us a cooking lesson to show us some local specialities.
Chennamkarry is a beautiful, friendly village, full of coconut trees and banana plants and teeming with birds and other wildlife. I highly recommend visiting and staying with Green Palm Homes!

The Green Palm experience is magical, from the minute you board a canoe to cross to this beautiful island, sitting alongside locals who are doing their daily chores. Thomas, his wife Lely and daughter Anina made us feel like part of the family. They cooked us delicious food and showed us real life in the backwater community.
Thomas gave us ideas for activities and organised sightseeing trips. He took us on an early morning birdwatching walk which was thrilling as we got to see more than 25 species. The island is beautiful, filled with friendly people and breathtaking nature. We really enjoyed strolling around with Thomas, meeting local people and learning how the community works together. If you want an insight into Kerala’s backwaters, and to stay with wonderful hosts who go the extra mile, stay at Green Palm.

We had an amazing stay at Maria´homestay.
The homestay is placed on an island so you need to take a small local ferry to get there (which was a lot of fun). Very unique location with amazing view on the backwaters. After 2 weeks of travelling in South India, this place really felt like ´coming home´.
Besides that Maria organizes many cool excursions so there is plenty to do (boat, kayak, bike, walking, bird watching ...). Since the homestay is on an island, we had excellent local food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And also a plus for me: the house and rooms were super clean. A must for everyone who is looking for local and peaceful experience.

This Home stay was let down by one of the family members Annu. Annu hosts from one of the three properties ran by the homestay. He is a son of the mother who founded this business.

Annu is a very serious and complex personality he finds it difficult to smile. A tense presence who isn’t nice to be around. The minute he got In touch he was sending many pedantic voice notes to me.

He was pressuring his to pay for the home-stays offerings from the minute we arrived. We just wanted to relax at the homestay.

He was offended when I quite rightly questioned the legitimacy of a walking tour that lasted 15 minutes through his area. He wanted 800 rupees per person for this. When I told him I wasn’t happy with it. He made up that other guests had booked our room, meaning we had to leave on Christmas Day. He then tried withholding my money that I paid him up front. Blaming it on his sister, only that I contacted his sister (who lives in the UK) who told me he was lying. I was eventually refunded.

Before checking out I received many long winded messages and voice notes. All rather disturbing. Over a week later I received another voice note from this man quoting Jesus Christ.

Please see attached messaged with my review. He is a very disturbing man. Do not book to stay with him.

Hi Seb, We couldn't recognise you with profile Sunny.. However, we wonder what made you quote our mum Anna's name into it although you spelt it Annu. First of all, sorry for what made you think like this in our place. But, thank you for the review along with the screenshots.Although your interpretations and intensions are different, your review is self explanatory to people who read this. I am going to number it down. 1. You have stayed with us 2 nights; if you were not happy, you would have left atleast after one night. 2. Can any body expect a stay for 2people, including all the 3 meals unlimited, with tea/cofee/water ulimited for ₹ 3250? And after booking basic room, letting them use the airconditioning, with out charging extra. 3. Your disagreement started after 30 minutes, of walking tour which is not even half way through the planned walk, because there was no stars in the sky as mentioned in the website, and the toddy shop was shut down which is out Greenpalms control. As everything was arranged for the walk, the boatman was waiting, and to whom we have to pay for his time and for coming all the way to pick us, although, you were behaving like that. This is the only reason why we mentioned about paying half price for the walk, however you haven't paid that.Things are arranged in a mutual trust and no matured people will imagine somebody will complain about no, stars in the sky as given in the website. However we learned a lesson and will make changes in the website about the possibility of stars in the sky, toddy tapper etc . 4. Although, things were not easy, Maria spoke to you, and you said you were not comfortable to stay and that's why you left. We presume you were a bit guilty by then. At the same time it is contradictory, when you say we have thrown you out, which also means you were happy and wanted to stay. All we can understand from this is, that you wanted to stay but wanted more discount. But what discount can you expect from₹ 3250 including all the meals for 2 adults? 5.The screen shot shows, no offensive language but responding to each other. 6. Whatever was your intension, you tried to split between us siblings, saying that Maria said, brother is lying and vice versa. 7. You have mentioned about, Christmas; Yes, we do this business for our living, but we too have Christmas and you spoiled it mentally and also by loosing a peak day business for us. 8. Thanks for admitting that we have refunded the3rd night, which we did not have to. Sorry to number it down like this, but it's our livelyhood and there is a different side to the story which our clients would like to hear. Again Seb, wish you all the best. Thanks Greenpalm homes

We loved to stay here. The atmosphere is very relaxed and familiar and we felt to live the real backwater experience from the first moment we arrived. The owner Thomas and his family are amazing people and they do everything with great love, always there when we needed and always trying to make us feel like home, giving us lots of advices on place and area to visit and discover. The room was clean, with hot water shower and daily free drinkable water available. This place is a real hidden gem and a great place to recharge your batteries and relax, surrounded by very friendly local people, beautiful green rice fields, nature, quietness and love. Thank you again to all of you, hope to see you soon again, Elena and Luca.
