Very pretty location . Rooms are large and comfortable . Staff very friendly and helpful. This hotel will be revamped in the new year and extra rooms added. Will definitely be a must stay after the revamp.

We were fortunate enough to be the only people in the Hotel when we stayed there, so got to enjoy it in complete privacy. The gardens around the lodge are very pleasant to walk through and great for some local bird watching after a long flight and drive. Food was average, but the customer service was good. Overall, would recommend... More

We have been staying at Glenshiel for almost every year for the past 19 years to attend the annual Spring Festival. We have three kids of which the youngest is seventeen months. We arrived at the hotel after 20:00 on Friday night. Upon arrival we were told that there will be a Jazz Festival on Saturday night - despite the... More

We had a pre-booked (and pre-paid) room which we left immediately and stayed (at additional costs) at a different place! The entire hotel appears decrepit but the room they offered us was absolutely terrible! Very dark, everything appears shabby and outworn - and freezing cold - they don't have a heating in the room, just a fire place (which is... More

We are quite regular customers. When we arrived we had to wait 1,5 hours before we could get into our room, because they were busy installing TV's in the rooms. We booked a specific room two weeks in advance (the one we always stay in) but when we got there it was not ready. The kettle was not working and... More

Nearly 2months ago now, we decided on the spur of the moment to visit Magoebaskloof and Tzaneen. The staff was very accommodating with our last minute booking. It was nightfall when we got there and the first thing they did was to light a fire for us. Hearty soup was waiting for dinner while some of the staff entertained my... More

Our interaction with Glenshiel was limited to a dinner. We booked for dinner based on some fairly encouraging reviews, but we had a rather mixed experience. The hotel seemed deserted and we were the only guests having dinner. It was based on a set menu with limited options. In summary, the soup was slightly over salted, the sirloin steak was... More

This is a well furnished and fitted country hotel with amiable staff doing their best to provide services to guests, but their training and supervision leaves a lot to be desired. Cold plates in the restaurant, over cooked food, a messy dining room and lack of attention to detail detract from the pleasure of spending a leisurely weekend in the... More

I stayed there with a group of American birders in February 2016, we were very pleased overall, and had great fun with the staff, our waitress in particular (can't recall her name, but she was very engaging and entertaining). The grounds were beautiful, and it's well placed for tackling Woodbush Forest.

There was only one thing very good about this hotel and that was Patricia who was at reception when we arrived. She took us to the room we stayed in, which was the fourth one she checked and found ready. [We arrived at about 16h00]. The room had no mini bar and as we had some drinks that we wanted... More
