Alsisar Mahal is the battle hardened palace in the town of Alsisar in Shekhawati Region of Rajasthan. Earlier Alsisar Mahal was the residence of the Thakur of Alsisar, which is recently renovated and refurbished into a luxurious heritage hotel. Alsisar, famous for castles, Havelis and Cenotaphs is a small town surrounded by semi arid desert, situated in the north-western part of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan. It originated in the form of small Havelis' collection in the town and later developed in the form of huge havelis which today stands tall and leaves a history behind them. There are hundreds of havelis in this area which bear the wonderful fresco paintings in various everlasting colours and designs. Each speaks with full throated ease about the glorious past of Shekhawati. They are the masterpiece of art and architecture created centuries ago. This is the reason the land of Alsisar Mahal is popularly known as open art gallery.

Such a contrast to the 4-5 hotelswith their uniform rooms. Our tour group were excited as schoolchildren ontherir first trip away from home. The rooms were so delightful and individual.awalk around the village gave us an idea what the real India outside the cities is like

The stay was as royal as it can get. Luxurious stay and polite staff ( zaheer, arjun, dinesh, ajju, surinder) and mouth watering food. The Desert Safari was a highlight of the stay. Kudos to Alsisar Mahal.

Alsisar mahal is just not in actual how it looks or sounds,.. Royalty and service are poles apart here . The huge rooms have one window ac or one split ac which makes the heat unbearable. To survive the heat we had to sit turn by turn on achair next to the ac to get some air .There is no concept of cleanliness and Hygiene here as our room had not been cleant and dusted in ages and I developed a bad dust allegry .
On check in we were guided to a wrong room on a higher floor , due to which my dad fell down on the stairs and got hurt .They didnt not have first aid kit.Which was very surprising.
There was a wedding going on in the property due to which the managers constantly informed us that we must pay the buffet charges and eat at the wedding buffet .. it was very insulting ..they wouldnt be able to get anything made for us or there would be no room service as they were busy in the wedding . If they could not give service why did they give us rooms ?inspite of them knowing our dads hurt they refused to even send tea for him in the room . My 20 month old baby went through the day without any milk as they couldnt arrange to send it .On insistence when we climbed down steep stairs with our hurt father to the dining room we were shown one printed menu of the wedding function from w hich we were forced to order our meal as the staff wasnt just ready to do nething else .. really bad management!! Horrendous stay and worst hospitality.
Desert Mandawa / Desert castle score much more in every aspect if you wish to explore rajasthan ..

A day visit which we expected to be the highlight of our Rajasthan visit, turned out to be the one of the worst hospitality experiences we have encountered. Unfortunately for us, there was a wedding ongoing at the premises, because of which we were repeatedly told there would be no Room Service, and that we would have to partake lunch and dinner in the wedding buffet. We were travelling with a 20 month infant, a 69 year senior citizen and 3 more adults. During this one day stay, my father fell down the stairs while climbing down from the wrong suite of rooms shown to us, the baby did not get milk as no room service, and we were forced to eat from the buffet menu decided by the wedding hosts.
On top of that, in the nearly 45-47 degree weather of Rajasthan, the huge rooms at Alsisar have a single window/split air-conditioner, which believe me, were not at all effective. The rooms were not dusted properly and my sister developed dust allergy.
Despite all this, on complaining about the food choices, we were informed by Mr Surinder there, that Alsisar Mahal offers only buffet food, there has never been any A-La-Carte menu.......... His attitude was that whatever issues you all faced is now in the past, so lets just fix up the current menu (by the way, he meant please choose from the 3 vegetarian main course options of the wedding menu).....
I strongly recommend not visiting this property during the summers and also whenever there is any mega function being held as they are incapable of hospitality, customer service and have never heard of customer satisfaction.
I am adding two photos - 1) displaying the room dustiness and 2) the dinner menu offered to us.

This is a quirky conversion of the real thing - a maharajah's palace. There's still some work to be done to bring it up to international standard, but I wouldn't have missed the experience for a pot of gold.
The rooms are immense, and no two rooms are the same. We had a four-poster bed, a dressing room and a huge bathroom.
Hot water is available at appropriate times, the plumbing and electrics are antiquated, and all the rooms open their windows onto a central courtyard, so early -nighters might suffer from a little disturbance.
As we arrived on a coach, we had to walk through the village to reach the hotel, although a little prior planning would have brought a jeep to the parking area.
The dining room on the ground floor is simply amazing in it's fabulous decoration, and the roof-top dining from the buffet is not to be missed.
There's also a dungeon bar, a WWII room and the opportunity to go on a jeep safari, a camel-cart ride, and to visit an old, disused silk road hotel which is remarkably picturesque.
This is the ultimate in shabby elegance and not to be missed.

This property is pretty, i'll give you that, but there is a reason why it doesn't come together as an experience to remember fondly. Without citing all the incidents here's what you need to be prepared for:
1) Rajasthan is only tolerable in terms of temperature in the rains (July Aug) and during this time, aside from the complicated way to get there, you tavel 250kms from Delhi, on non-existent roads, with craters filled with water ruining your much loved car and possibly causing you to turn back if you have a small car or take many many many detours to get back on the road to this place.
2) The reason I bring this up is you'll spend a good 7+ hrs getting here in really bad driving conditions to a place that's no doubt pretty but with a lot of rude restaurant staff that doesn't care about the guest "experience". They argue, fight over petty things and saying no is not a problem for them, everything we asked for 90% of the time resulted in a "No, we cannot change your room if its too small" (even though they only had about 10 of the 51 rooms occupied) and it took them 8 hrs and 3 reminders to send me milk for our tea in the room. Small things but they add up when you have staff that really makes this a bad "experience" to the extent you wonder what you were thinking. The property pics will get you there but it doesn't guarantee you a relaxing heritage experience if you're expecting to be treated with care and respect. They're nothing like we're used to in 4/5 star hotels. The waiters argue, talk back and have expressions that do not lend to this being a pleasurable stay.
3) Even if you tell the nice reception host about this, they do nothing, they don't talk to the staff member, or train their staff to extend a welcome to the tired and stressed. There are a lot of places one can go to with way way way better connectivity (read: actually has roads) with just as much history and to truly relish a fort. This place doesn't have a tour or a history of itself that they tell guests about so this is just a LOT of effort for a few memorable pictures you'll bring back with you.
4) They are disorganized and because they have other guests (20 more at the time) they just didn't care about individual guests (and we had 2 rooms) or how they were catering to the "non-group". HORRIBLE!
In closing, hats off to my husband for letting our sedan go thru what it did on this trip, this trip is definitely a wear on your car and the person driving since it took us 8 hrs getting there and another 8 getting back. We were told we took a bad road (google map'd) and to back another way which was EVEN worse! This could easily be someone's idea of a cruel joke when you go through miserable conditions to get there and then be treated disrespectfully. All in all a bad experience. For people planning this trip, my advice is be ready to traverse one lane roads for 50+ Kms and 100 Kms of cratered roads filled with water upto the bonnet in multiple places and extreme driving conditions due to a lot of factors. In summary, this was the worst trip we've had.Ever, i'd forgive the driving conditions if the hotel staff could only take care of the guests that get there with a LOT of effort, wear and tear and excitement.

We stayed two nights in Alsisar Mahal. The hotel is a bit excentered in Shekhawati, but it's really worth the trip.
Initially, we were planning on making a one-day round trip in Shekhawati from the hotel. But when we saw the beautifull castle, our huge suite and the nice and quiet village of Alsisar, we decided to spend the day there.
We made a camel tour, took advantage of the hotel swimming pool, had some massage, visited the village in the late afternoon.
The staff, as well as the people from the village, were very friendly. They invited us to a wedding party on the first evening, took us for a tour in the village on the next late afternoon, etc. On the second evening, we had two shows of Rajasthani dancers.
We had a really pleasant stay. It was a perfect place to end our trip in Rajasthan, mostly after the busy and crowded town of Jaipur.

Located in a village in Rajasthan, India, this property is not in an impressive location. Once inside though is a different story. Well appointed and maintained it provides all the facilities of a resort and comfort of home. The cuisine was very good and the service commendable. We were a large family group of all age groups( 4 yrs to 85 yrs ). It gave us an opportunity and time to bond and let our hair down

Have been there during our Rajastan round trip. This hotel is one of the best ones we have ever stayed. Great service, gorgeous surrounding, the roof top at sunset is just perfect, the rooms are huge ... you feel like a Maharajah.
I would always come back in case we return to this area.

We were at the property during autumn but the way we were looked after whilst there, would leave me to believe you and your family will have a memorable stay at the property, during the New Years celebrations. Some of our party dressed casually whilst others more formal as far as I am aware there is no dress code. Enjoy your celebrations in wonderful relaxing surroundings.
Yes. They have rooms large enough to accommodate all 4.5 of you :)

Hi! Since we drove from Delhi to Alsisar I don't know about the train route.
We walked around the village and discovered Indra Vilas a old haveli converted to hotel, it's a good option for meals.
We drove to Rani Sati Mandir in Jhunjhunu, visited the Shekhawati haveli in Nawalgarh and went to Mandwa village.
