Travellers' Choice
Alsisar Mahal is the battle hardened palace in the town of Alsisar in Shekhawati Region of Rajasthan. Earlier Alsisar Mahal was the residence of the Thakur of Alsisar, which is recently renovated and refurbished into a luxurious heritage hotel. Alsisar, famous for castles, Havelis and Cenotaphs is a small town surrounded by semi arid desert, situated in the north-western part of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan. It originated in the form of small Havelis' collection in the town and later developed in the form of huge havelis which today stands tall and leaves a history behind them. There are hundreds of havelis in this area which bear the wonderful fresco paintings in various everlasting colours and designs. Each speaks with full throated ease about the glorious past of Shekhawati. They are the masterpiece of art and architecture created centuries ago. This is the reason the land of Alsisar Mahal is popularly known as open art gallery.

We stayed two nights in Alsisar Mahal. The hotel is a bit excentered in Shekhawati, but it's really worth the trip. Initially, we were planning on making a one-day round trip in Shekhawati from the hotel. But when we saw the beautifull castle, our huge suite and the nice and quiet village of Alsisar, we decided to spend the day there. We made a camel tour, took advantage of the hotel swimming pool, had some massage, visited the village in the late afternoon. The staff, as well as the people from the village, were very friendly. They invited us to a wedding party on the first evening, took us for a tour in the village on the next late afternoon, etc. On the second evening, we had two shows of Rajasthani dancers. We had a really pleasant stay. It was a perfect place to end our

We end our last night in Alsisar Mahal for our Rajasthan trip and it was really well worth it! It was by far the best hotel we have stayed in Rajasthan. The pool was most beautiful and inviting. The dinning area was grand with super service from all the effecient and pleasant waiters. The whole experience was simply splendid! We got a nice, huge room with amazing facilities, including a hair dryer! Everything was just wonderful. There was a local family performing dance in the hotel in the evening, and the boy was a darling. Would definitely go back again the next time I go back to Rajasthan.
