Stopped here for tea for my birthday and it was delicious. We had the honeyed chorizo with bread and oil to start, I had the gammon and my partner had the Cajun chicken burger for mains and it was lovely, great portion sizes also! Service was great. Will definitely visit again if we are in the area.
Stopped in for lunch a few days after Christmas and the place was packed, glad we had booked. Super friendly and helpful staff, wide selection of beer, amazing food and the building inside and out is gorgeous. Great setting and a great meal with draught Black Sheep. Well worth the short drive from Harrogate.
My wife and I were staying in the nearby village of Summerbridge, as we have done for many years. Early this year, my wife had health trouble, and now has IBS. As a consequence, she now has to watch what she eats and drinks. On our recent stay, we approached Phillipe at the The Wellington Inn, the most recent owner, regarding my wife's problem, and he couldn't do enough to accommodate her needs. In the past, we stopped using the Inn, as the furniture in the restaurant needed replacing, plus the whole area was in need of a refurbishment. On this visit, we couldn't believe the change in the decor', it was just great. So, coming back to my wife's situation, we approached Phillipe and explained the situation. Well, he couldn't have been more helpful. We arranged three evening visits, as we were only staying in Summerbridge for a few nights. Well, my wife's first night meal was excellent, having arranged it with Phillipe and his chefs, and of course, my meal was great too. On the second night, it was the same, two lovely meals, great service, and lovely drinks. Unfortunately this night, my wife took a turn for the worst, so we left a little earlier, and she needed a hot water bottle, to help with the pain. Unfortunately, we forgot to bring one. Having explained to the staff, one of them offered to pop home, and let us borrow one. Well, it was just fantastic, and we left early, to get back to Summerbridge, where we were staying. The next day, as my wife wasn't improving, we decided to leave a day early, and dropped off the hot water bottle on the way, plus cancelling that nights table. Well, what we want to say is, a big thank you to Phillipe and all his staff, for showing such lovely concern, and looking after us so very well. What a lovely pub and what great staff. We will of course, be back, but just want to say how well we were looked after, and so very professionally. Thanks again Phillipe and all your staff. In the words of Arnold Shwartseneger, ''We'll be back''! …
We came here for lunch on the grimmest Monday and it was so warm, welcoming and cosy inside. Other customers just talking and laughing, the open fire and the lovely staff made it just perfect. And then the food arrived. And it made our visit even MORE PERFECT!! My husband had the pork belly and I had steak and ale pie. Oh my days, it was so good. We cannot wait to return and although we live close, wish we lived closer!
amazing food, attentive service and lovely atmosphere! would definitely recommend this pub to anyone. we had two flat iron steaks, they were to die for! value for money was fantastic. and the tempura prawns for starter were delicious. We wished we had room for pudding!! We’ll be back.
We arrived early and had a few pints in the bar before we sat down. There is a good choice on tap from some Yorkshire breweries. We then had food including the pate, soup, sirloin steak, burger, Eton mess and Belgian waffle. The food was all excellent but the standout dishes were the steak and the waffle - the ice cream was amazing. Highly recommended.
We have visited this pub several times. It offers a good selection of local ales including Timmy Taylor’s and Black Sheep, and the food is always top-notch. It’s located in an amazing area with rolling fields all around. Just a lovely traditional Yorkshire pub and the perfect spot to spend a couple of hours. Recommended.
A wonderful classic stone built Yorkshire pub with a huge car park, ample seating inside and out. A young and very attentive team provided an excellent standard of prompt service. A nice choice of ales, the Timothy Taylor’s was superb. We ordered the Sunday Roasts which came with a huge Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, a lovely medley of greens and some seriously good gravy. Downside, I had two thin slices of beef, I would guess 4 ozs at best and my wife’s shoulder of lamb was 50% fat, we doubted it was should and she cut off all the fat and left it. We were asked three times how our meal was and three times we politely mentioned the lamb which was left on the plate. This place was a short walk from where we staying, we would have made a number of return visits including with friends during our holiday but we were put off a little and looked elsewhere. Had that been my kitchen I would have come out, or sent a messenger.…
Came here for dinner on a last minute decision. Great selection of food, very polite and professional service. After ordering the food came quickly. The food was delicious and the portions generous. Would definitely come again. Highly Recommend!!
This is a fantastic find. Set in beautiful countryside, views to die for. Rooms clean and tidy, good size bathroom. The food is exceptional, where to start! We ate in the restaurant on all 3 nights, gammon was particularly good and the steak pie. It is busy all the time, which shows just how good it is. Large car park. Easy access to Harrogate, Knaresborough and surrounding attractions. Absolutely loved our stay.
