See my review of February 2018 for details. Having thought about this, I feel I should've awarded the hotel five stars. I'm convinced you won't find more value in a three star hotel anywhere in the world [it was $20 per night!] given the location, the high level of service, the scrupulously clean nature of the property, and the simple but fresh and wonderful food. Service is really good: when I complained about the hard thin mattress, they put another mattress on top of it which solved the problem. I had a slight medical issue and they promptly drove me to the local "hospital"-a unique experience in itself. We were booked into the Tana Bana but Bollywood was in town to film a movie, and they canceled our reservation without notice to make room for the crew. This hotel is better, anyway. In addition to the local filming, there was a by election taking place the next day and our hotel was packed with BJP politicians which were a hoot to talk to.…
Possibly one of the best hotel in Chanderi, the main reason I said its best is because its the only good stay option out there after state run guest house Tana-Bana which is quite costly and also had lots of bad reviews from fellow traveller. Recommended for a night stay. I chose to stay in their inexpensive room without AC and even that was not bad for me!
There are pluses and minuses of this very basic hotel ITMON [In The Middle Of Nowhere] Plusses 1. Scrupulously clean, room and public areas. Excellent, controllable AC. 2. Nice, helpful staff - the owner speaks fluent English 3. Really excellent food. Everything is fresh and made to order - you can't item order - you just order the meal - and it takes a minimum of one hour to prepare. But it is ALL delicious Indian food. For breakfast they served as delicious omelets and toast, not reqlly an Indian meal, but they kept bringing me as many omelets as I wanted. 4. The best coffee we've yet had in India and that includes the Imperial in Delhi, Marriott in Agra, and Taj Usha Kiran in Gwalior. Also really delicious tea. 5. Super location, in the heart of town. Nice market is right out your door. Minusses 1. Biggest by far is the bed - mattress is 3" thick and hard as a rock. It is like sleeping on a board. 2. You make your own bed - they leave two single sheets and two blankets folded at the foot. The mattress is sheeted. There are only two wafer thin pillows but they bring more if you want them. Only one towel, but they brought more on request. 3. Lousy shower - like standing in a rain sprinkle and only 2 minutes of hot water. 4. They don't service the room. So make sure make sure you have enough TP - ask for more before you run out. 5. No English language TV. 6. Lousy, slow internet…
The hotel is well situated in the heart of the market. Shoos to buy Chanderi fabric and Saree's are within walking distance. One can reach the weavers too In the streets. Food is prepared on order in advance. Simple and tasty food not much of variety.
Excellent hotel with large and airy rooms. Very neat and clean rooms and the surroundings. Surprised to have such a nice hotel in this part. Provides good food which otherwise is a problem in Chanderi. The management is very helpful and responsive.
A 3 star review doesn't sound good but the hotel is not pricey either. The hotel is neat and clean with a friendly staff. It is the only hotel in the centre of town and you can walk to many historical monuments. Don't expect anything fancy and you will not be dissapointed either
There are very few hotels in Chanderi and it is quite a good option considering the limitations. It is clean, quiet, the staff is local semi professional but helpful, unobtrusive and polite. The Badal Mahal Gate and mosque are in the vicinity of the hotel. I would recommend this place to any traveler whose basic goal is sightseeing and to spend a night or two in this quiet place.
I think this is the only hotel in Chanderi and if you are staying here, then you are probably touring with Intrepid or one of their companies. I really liked this hotel. Wifi is available in reception (not in the room – but then this is not unusual). The room was nice and comfortable. We had a nice view of the rooftops and the mosque and were woken by the soothing sounds of the call to prayer. The restaurant is basic, but I thought the food was very good indeed. The staff were really nice and accommodating. We all asked for some beers, so they jumped on a moped and went to the edge of town to buy some for us, we didn’t realise that they had none in the hotel. I seem to remember we asked for extra blankets in the room, as in January, it got a little chilly late at night. I really want to return to Chanderi and I would stay here again.…
Few choices to stay in Chanderi so your choices are limited. It was very nice looking in the lobby and reception area and the rooms were not that different. Clean, very friendly staff, hard bed, hot water etc. Your basic 2 star hotel. We had no complaints at all but if you expect a 5 star bathroom, this is not your place. Mothballs in the sink to keep bugs out and the 'window' was a bit worn and there were stains on the bathroom ceiling. This is in the new building and there are more basic rooms in the old side. Tour groups stay here regularly. Good location - meaning you can walk everywhere in town. Food was basic but fine, and again, not a lot of options in the wonderful town where the kids all wave at you, adults want to shake you hand or ask to have their picture taken-without asking for money…
