It has been a really positive experience, the owner is such a nice person, very kind and friendly. The hostel is clean, with hot water and laundry, and if you want also air conditioning. The location is very good, closed to the ruins, the beach, the supermarket and to el pueblo. They even give you a bicycle for free, that...

I spend one horrible night at this hostel and it doesn't even deserve a single star. I stayed in a dorm and it was by far the worst dorm i've stayed in after five months of travelling centralamerica - small, hot, and unbeleavingly dirty. The bathroom didn't have a sink and it was disgusting all around, the toilet bin hadn't...

My wife and I stopped in at the bar for a beer after visiting the ruins. We started talking with our waiter and he told us about the hostel. We checked in and glad we did. Dorms are $12 with free breakfast and free bike rentals. Rent a bike in town and thats about 9 bucks a day. Its located...

Tulum was one of the places I was really looking forward to on our 3 week trip around Mexico, Belize and Guatemala. The beach was paradise, the ruins were amazing, what a shame about the hotel (or more like run down hostel). The only good points to this place was that it is a good distance to the beach and...

one month backpacking through Mexico and this was the worst accomodation by far dirty filthy room, personell of no help and the restaurant is only open until 5pm. Toilet not working properly. Huge spider in the shower. Room looked like it wasn t cleaned for months. If you want to stay in Tulum, aim for the center (and use a...

Our Lonely Planet guide book made it seem like Tulum was a truck stop. But it was wrong. We got off the bus from Playa Del Carmen at the Tulum Ruinas stop and were welcomed into the El-Crucero by the friendly owner and two kitty cats. The hotel has dorms and private rooms. We stayed in a clean and comfortable...

I stayed at El Crucero for two nights. I had a large tiled, air conditioned, comfortable room. There is a large outdoor area with hammocks, chairs and tables. I enjoyed the friendliness of the staff, the tranquility of the setting and the comfort of the room. It is good to be away from the "hustle and bustle" of town. The...

Really cozy. We had both a room with a fan and then one with AC. The one with the fan was a little compact, but fine because hopefully you aren't spending too much time in your room. Nice common areas with hammocks for reading and resting. Also, great staff, the restaurant is good and there is a little shop in...

Looking at the excellent reviews on here, it's the same compliments over again, and I can only add to them. El Crucero is fantastic; great spot (enjoyed the stroll to the beach, and enjoyed being away from the main strip) fantastic staff, and a really nice feel to it. The rooms were clean, comfortable and interesting. The place was spotlessly...

I stayed here for a total of about 3 weeks in Feb and March and had easily the most wonderful time of any trip I'd taken, largely due to Sharon and Mark and the hotel. I had intended to spend 2 wks in Mexico, with one of them in Tulum, but ended up extending my trip by a month, I...
