I was GRANDPAcking in Tulum for 7 nights. Because of the popular Tulum Ruins and Tulum Beach, Hotels in Tulum are expensive for budget travellers. If you want to keep costs below MXP500 / night for a Double Fan room, you need to book into a hostel. I got a 40% discount rate of only MXP309 / night for a...

It was my first time travelling on my own and I couldn't have dreamed of a better place to arrive, music, friendly people, good vibes and a clean comfortable room! :) What else could you possibly want?!

A great hostel to meet friends, have fun and chill out in. Free drinks for an hour gets all guests together at one long table, nearly forcing you to chat to your neighbours. Staff are friendly and give you good advice for both the area and future travel plans.

Great hostel with a chilled sociable vibe. Every night from 630 to 730 they serve free cocktails!! Free breakfast stuff as well including cereal and milk, free drinking water, free pasta to cook in the evenings. The kitchen is one of the best I've ever seen at a hostel. Plus there's a swimming pool! The only negative was that the...

We stayed for three nights in an air conditioned private room with ensuite. The ensuite was more of a partitioning wall than a whole separate room, but it was private enough. Air-con was great. Pool was nice to jump into to refresh at the end of the day. And the free cocktail happy hour a definite bonus. The kitchen was...

We stayed at the weary traveller for 5 nights, the staff were friendly and helped us to book tours. The hostel is close and walking distance to lots of restaurants and bars. Our room wasn't the cleanest on arrival but apart from that the hostel was great.

The hostel is very international. They offer you plenty of activities and they offer you the ingredients for your own breakfast and diner (last one has to be payed and there is no vegetarian option...). The rooms and the bathroom were clean.

We walked into the Weary Traveler after messing up our booking at Hostel Che, and it turned out to be a blessing! This was one of the best hostels we've stayed at for atmosphere and facilities, we ended up extending our stay. - free breakfast - free salsa lessons (so much fun!) - free pool party - free Caiprihana cocktails...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Weary Traveler Hostel Tulum was started by backpackers for backpackers back in the year 2000. The hostel was built around what they themselves wanted to find in a good hostel when they were traveling. A good social vibe A book exchange A bar with backpacker prices Communal Kitchen (loaded with free spices, salt, pepper) Full Cook Your Own Breakfast Free Rice, Pasta and lentils for dinner Good Advice on Tours and Activities Some aspects of the Weary Traveler Hostel Tulum appear to be unique but they are not. Many of them came from other hostels where we had stayed long before we dreamed of opening a hostel in Tulum. For example the Burn Your Own BBQ was inspired by the Bondi Beach Hotel's incredible steak barbi setup inside the bar. Huge, beautiful cuts of beef were in a display fridge that was part of the bar. You would say, "Yeah, give me that one!" and huge chunk of raw red meat came at you on a platter. It was your job to cook it how you wanted it. The Weary Traveler Hostel Tulum has changed, evolved, gone back to our roots and changed again and again over the years. We have always tried to evolve as a hostel, stay ahead of the competition and anticipated the changing needs and desires of our guests. So welcome to The Weary Traveler Hostel Tulum, mi casa es su casa! John, one of the originals from way back when. ... more   less
