Nestled in a picturesque setting near the beach, the Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel is hailed as a tranquil retreat with its serene vibe and natural surroundings, a feature that is consistently lauded by guests. However, while the service is generally recognized for its friendliness, some visitors have called out occasional inconsistencies and slow responses. Travelers enjoy the spacious rooms though issues with maintenance have been noted. While the hotel offers diverse amenities, guests warn of additional costs that may affect the overall value, with some feeling the services are overpriced.

Hotel's Favourite

I really think this resort is stunning, the beach, the nature, but it has taken me a few weeks to writing this review because it was annoying that it wasn't perfect as the place has so much potential but there is a LOT to improve.

I feel like this hotel is beautiful but compared to many other resorts around the world and for how much it costs, I would have expected it to be more like my previous 5 star experiences.

We travelled as a couple from the UK, we are not boujie and not TOO fussy for context, but expect what you pay for and whats advertised. We are in our 30s and not drinkers. We had an all inclusive package for 10 days.

The GOOD BITS:
We were in a junior suite near the cenote, it was LOVELY. The bathroom was huge, the bedroom was big and clean, beautiful view into terrace, walk in wadrobe.. a little back terrace with a pool you could fill (we didnt want to) we were welcomed kindly

the WIFI was great worked everywhere and was strong aside from one afternoon.
The crocodile, racoons, monkeys, deer were very cool to see around!! Not often you seen a croc called esmerelda!

The SPA was beautiful, great gym, the pool was freezing, even inside one, pointless for relaxing.

The TV had youtube and netflix already on it which was great!

HOUSEKEEPING - they were BRILLIANT. Our rooms were spotless everyday, everything topped up, clean and our mini bar of soft drinks updated. They even brought me a bottle of soya millk, that was fantastic service.

THE BEACH is beautiful and they really work hard to keep it clean of seaweed, the staff also serve food and drink to the beach in the heat they work so so hard. I have no complaints at all. There were always sun lounges available, never had to wait around. The pool area had sun loungers and the restaurant with lovely seating with great views. The 'infinity' pool needs to be cleaned more, but it was very windy and the water is freezing! But generally great.

THE PROBLEMS & WHAT COULD BE BETTER:
We had some maintenance issues but as soon as we told them they would see to it-

For us, we had room issues straight away- the shower didn't get too hot, only one rain shower operated properly, the second one barely had power. but that wasn't too important.

The fuses/plugs on a whole side of our room didn't work, we thought all our adapters weren't working but then we realised that it was actually the plugs. The lobby lent us an adapter too and when we realised it was the actual sockets we didn't use their one. Maintenance repaired it the next day so that was good- the dealt with it quickly, and we returned their unused plug only to have a heated confrontation from one of their staff that we have to pay for it, then changed to we've already been charged for it, which was all false as they didn't even have our card, they had brought it unpacked to us and told my partner they could only take cash, as if it was one of their personal ones. So it was so weird they were heatedly repeating that to us that it was from the hotel store, after me returning it (as our own ones worked fine once the socket was fixed), complaining about his attitude, they apologised so that was done. Very confusing.

The four poster bed is comfortable BUT really creaky, any movement in. your sleep and you would hear it!

Our sliding doors had a open seal so any insects or lizards etc woulda just been able to creep in! I ended up using a towel to block the seal up - again the manager Ivonne reported it and they came to repair it the next day.
She also did offer us two alternative rooms bless her that she took us to but they were a downgrade from our room, small with just small balconies so we just said we would stay in our room. Our room was also FREEZING cold in the evenings, outside was warmer! I had to use the hairdryer to heat up the air, when we turned off the AC every time we walked in it wouldn't help!

One night the TV just went black and wouldn't turn on. They asked us to wait while they brought a TV from another room. My partner, he said they wont bring it as we got used to everything taking long so he actually took some time and fixed it himself! We never heard from reception and no tv ever came so if we left it to them - no tv.

RESTAURANT
The restaurant- well the ONE Aquamarine - we loved the staff they were VERY hospitable, very kind, very friendly and patient. Guillardo, Luis, Guastavo, and the whole team. We have dietary needs and they were attentive, the waiters would write everything we said down, unfortunately what came out of the kitchen was not what they wrote, we would wait many times for a new plate. I also HATE wasting food so it was upsetting that so much went back.

BUT - Breakfast and Lunch options were fantastic!1 Really enjoyed the ones we could eat. Good variety, very delicious. Coffees could be better.. bit weak and basic.

Dinner was okay, the Mexican themed night was good and the Italian night was good, the Caribbean night was terrible! Very bland and the recipe was defo not correct, surprising as its not that far away! We have better in the UK!

The non alcoholic drinks were great and the bar always made a fantastic variety for me. The bar staff are fantastic.

The feedback I would say, as its only ONE restaurants to ever pick from and depends what night, the more mature one, Ambar is TOO limited. We stayed 10 days so repeating that menu was very mundane and the same, not exciting at all.

The 'entertainment' here was not good, there is literally nothing going on most of the time at this hotel. There is hardly any activity on the resort itself and there is nothing nearby as its on a motorway. It was a little empty and boring unless you're a drinker and all you want to do is sit at the bar and drink!

Apparently, they offer two activities, sushi and Spanish lessons? Bit random, I didn't see any of it personally or hear anyone talk about it. The wait time for food was sometimes 35-45 minutes, and when we went there was not a lot of guests for the first week, a flock came the last 4 days of our stay, but the wait time was always long eitherway. This resort loves Americans, so if you are American you will have extra great service.

Also a few days of telling them there is no liquid soap in the restaurant/pool bathrooms! ew there was gel but no soaps, I asked for it everytime! Just top up how long can it take!

Also PLEASE have some diary free/ vegan deserts, there is only so much sorbet or fruit platters you can have, for a five star resort there should be at least ONE night in TEN that the chef can make a sponge cake, cookie, tart something sweet! One night the chef in Ambar made a avacado choc mousse, so kind but we didn't like the taste but appreciated the effort.

There was a bug/insect problem in the restaurant, they kept diving into drinks and food, they did say its because of the rain but also they had lots in their ceiling that they had reported but i guess we were in a jungle environment so we just ignored them!

Travelling around the hotel grounds was frustrating, sometimes you would wait up to 20 minutes for a go cart buggy, and if there wasn't the bicycles nearby or if you dressed up in heels it was very annoying to get around. When there was bicycles, it was a nice way to travel.

The key cards for the room - I'm so annoyed still I don't wanna write about it! We got through 11 key cards, almost every time we went to the room, our key card wouldn't work! the amount of times i had to go back to reception in the heat or after a long walk was SO VEXING! (After day 1 we didn't keep them by our phones either as we were told this may be a reason) I would get a sorry and thats it. One time, they brought us fresh ones within minutes and it didn't work! They eventually came to check if it was the lock and left without telling us an outcome! I suspect it was the door fault.

SOLUTIONS
What I would say is Ivonne was a very sweet manager, she offered resolutions and was very sympathetic, but as someone who has a lot of experience in this side of hospitality and travelling, this hotel knows NO gestures of goodwill or easing the inconvenience AT ALL. They just say sorry a lot.. not good enough.

Personally, after the room faults, the key cards, putting dairy in my food several times where I would wait another 40 minutes for a new dish, not even a spa offer, or a taxi call, or a reimbursement- nothing is offered at all that leaves a bit of a feeling like they don't really care as much as they 'show' BUT Ivonne is a great manager and handled situations very well.

THE MUSIC BY THE POOL NEEDS TO CHANGE. Me and boyfriend did ask and make suggestions - it was funny we knew the playlist off by heart. They literally play EXACTLY the same songs everyday from the same playlist. It's so repetitive. It's cover versions of some random top pop singles. It would be GREAT to have a variety, switch it up, even have some chilled house, some Reggaeton, some RnB, even a DJ for one hour or so.. its very boring. I think the staff were tired of it too! Head office needs to fix it!

This hotel would be better if it had a jacuzzi or hot tub somewhere! The massages and pedicures were too expensive so I went into Playa del carmen for that! Literally got the best pedicure there! We used both taxis and the 'bus' from across the road of the hotel to go into town and back, cost about £20 for taxi and £3 for the bus.

We did want a relaxing chilled peaceful one, but this was extreme.. some activities would be nice, even a table tennis, or snooker table, or like yoga, pilates, zumba, or some cool entertainment. One night a lady came to play guitar she took ages arranging her camera to film herself, there was hardly guests and it was uncomfortable.. there was a good band on one of the nights and the Mexican band were brilliant. But after you eat you pretty much go to your room.

I didnt see any water sports just in the beach nearby so unsure of that.

SUGGESTIONS FOR GUESTS IN THE FUTURE:
bring warm stuff for the evening in rooms, joggers, jumpers, gown, cosy socks to be warm
bring adapters the two pin straight flat ones
bring some speakers for some music if you enjoy that for some livelyness
walk along to the other beaches
go into playa del carmen
bring some card games, or things to do in the evenings if you like
bring liquid soap for the room there is only bar soap
USE THE SAFE it was easy to use and of course it'll be safer in any holiday resort - the other reviews say that things were stolen luckily we didnt have that we used the safe and even when some items were left out nothing was taken - it didnt feel that way at all to us
there is a atm machine that charges

Overall it is LOVELY it has the potential to be 5 star but it needs a lot of attention and work to get there! IT need some LIFE!
I would go back for just maybe 3 days or so before moving on, but not a whole week or 10 days there as its too boring and expensive for the offers. The staff were so lovely, I hope they are well taken care of.

As a couple we love Blue Diamond and returned for our anniversary last year. The property is large and gives great opportunity for spotting native wildlife I personally saw an agouti, croc/ alligator and various lizards. To negotiate getting around you can request bicycles (a little high for the vertically challenged among us), or call concierge for golf cart pick up. Despite the expanse, it maintains a cozy boutique feel which is our preference. There are no loud parties at night or boisterous guests wandering around. The rooms are large with tasteful interiors; our room also had a lagoon view where I could watch roosting birds from the bed. I think what makes Blue Diamond stand out for us is the hospitality. Everyone is professional and so willing to assist with any concerns we had. Compared with our previous trip, this year the entertainment was exceptional. There were regular nightly shows by local performers including acrobats, fire breathers, dancers and singers. The hotel also has unique included activities like archery and fishing on property. Uriel is awesome; during our stay he was the yoga instructor, archery and shooting instructor. He also seemed to arrange the nighty entertainment, we still don’t know how he seemed to be everywhere at once. The on-site restaurants have fantastic meals and we looked forward to the themed dining at Agua Marina. If you have time I would suggest stopping by the spa for a couples massage; we were treated to the best chocolate dipped strawberries and Moët.
We are definitely looking forward to our next trip to Mexico but wish we could take Blue Diamond to Cabo.

Just got back from wonderful trip to Blue Diamond Luxury Resort. I booked the resort for a corporate event in which had ~45 of our guests attend. The service Blue Diamond offered was first class and all the reviews from our guests echoed that same feedback. Blue Diamond feels much more boutique than other all-inclusive resorts I have stayed at in the past. Because of this I found we were able to build personal relationships with the staff. Roberto Ramirez and the other staff members went above and beyond to ensure our stay felt luxurious for both myself and our guests. They did an amazing job catering and organizing the different venues and activities that we required. We found the a-la-carte meals were much more enjoyable then buffet style menus. The food tasted better, was fresher, and offered a nice presentation every time you ate. The rooms were outstanding and offered a better living experience for both me and our guests. The quality of bottled alcohol in the room was also a very nice touch. The availability of bicycles and free shuttles were also a great offering. I look forward to staying at this resort again in the future.

I cannot praise the Blue Diamond highly enough. Everyone on the staff, without exception, with whom we interacted was warm, friendly, helpful, and kind. It is not just that we were well served by everyone on staff, but that we partook in every human interaction of St. Paul's love/charity/αγάπη. Our waiter Pedro automatically brought me sparkling water and my wife still water, and he knew to consult with the chef about my wife's garlic allergy; if there was garlic in a dish, the chef would prepare a special garlic-free version. The facility is a paradise. The property is beautiful: lovely secluded residences spread out over a large area of greenery and water. Our room was large, elegant, and comfortable. I was skeptical about an all-inclusive resort because my wife and I are careful about what we eat. But the restaurants were exceptional. The Ambar and Aguamarina restaurants are simply first rate oases of fine dining. Every dish was beautifully prepared and presented, and portions are suitably modest so that you can order as many dishes as you like without either overeating or wasting food. The beach was lovely: calm water, numerous chaises longues, and as many beach towels as you needed. We arrived home refreshed in body and spirit.

My husband and I chose to visit Blue Diamond for our honeymoon for a week and we felt like we found a hidden gem! From the moment you get there you are treated so well and nice by the amazing staff. They are all very attentive to the guests and so friendly. Special shout outs to Manuel, Ivan, Salvador and Carlos at the Pool bar by the Aguamarina. Those guys made our vacation amazing! We took a cocktail class held by a couple of them and it was a great time.

Definitely go to the concierge when you are there because she is great and will help book anything for you including classes, the spa or transportation. She is also who will reserve bikes for you which were so much fun to have!! The property is pretty spread out and it takes a little bit of walking or a short bike ride to get around but the grounds are beautiful and full of wildlife. They do have golf carts that they give people rides on too and you can call to request a ride anytime.

The food is delicious, but did get a little repetitive, but it is far better than any other all inclusive dinning options we have had in the past. Some nights at the Aguamarina they had really great entertainment so make sure to check that out.

We went to the spa and enjoyed every moment of it and it is very beautiful. They have another pool at the spa that’s worth checking out. Most of our days were spent on the well kept beach or up by the pool on the comfy beds or recliners. We loved ordering snacks and drinks and just lounging there all day. We also spent a lot of time simply exploring the property and looking for wildlife.

We stayed in the cenote laguna suite and it was spacious with beautiful views and privacy and kept very clean but the bed was pretty uncomfortable. The bathroom with the double shower head was drool worthy every evening after being outside in the sun all day. Housekeeping in the room was great and really detailed. On the other hand, the public restrooms could use some updating and maintenance as well as better cleaning.

This was a great place to visit and we recommend it to people looking for a really nice, relaxing all inclusive with star service. It was the perfect place for our honeymoon and we would love to go back some day!

We returned to blue diamond for the second time and for good reason. We love it.

Upon arrival we were created and promptly checked in. Got a golf cart to our room and were greeted by our butler Jorge. We were already used to the room as we have stayed in the palifito before so we were good there but we did have some questions for Jorge and he promptly answered them. Later on Julian, the other butler, fulfilled some of our other requests. Great guys and very grateful for their service. You can tell they really like their jobs.

The beach service was top notch and I really appreciate the server on the beach, I think his name was Manuel or Miseal.

Dinner at mbar was ok but we enjoyed eating at aquamarine as the menu changed every night. Roman was fantastic with his banana dessert. Thanks again!!!

The bar is small but great and amazing service. Ivan, Juverli and dary thank you!

The wine class was fun by the sommelier Hermino.

The spa is small but very nice. Wish there was better hot water pressure though. Thanks to Cleo and the other masseuse.

One thing we wish was better was a actual hot tub or jacuzzi in the room or on the property that you could use at night.

Also having hot water in the bathtub would be a plus.

All in all we will be returning.

Also we tried a rooftop palifito this time and if you are wanting to shower outside naked don’t choose this one as everyone can see you on the rooftop. They should move the showers outside were the bathtubs are and then it would be more private.

We stayed in room 313 from Jan 31st to Feb 7th 2020.

This is our impression of the hotel:

Check-in was not welcoming at all. Instead the staff member seemed to be threatening us with some of the rules of the hotel.

Our room was super spacious and nice. The bed was done every day but the mini bar was not stocked everyday. When we called reception for water because there was none in the mini bar, we were told it was on the way and never came.

Just an FYI, you will have ants, bugs, lizards in your room. We let the lizards out and killed the large ants/bugs.

We were told bicycles were on a waitlist but were happy to get one on our 3rd day. We rode them everyday to the beach, spa, etc. Golf carts are always around and quickly available if you need a ride to beach/restaurants/etc.

Some staff seem grumpy and bothered but most are super nice.

Herminio at Ambar is amazing service.

Elisa at spa is so good!

Manuel at aquamarina pool bar is amazing as well.

Theres work being done on the beach currently (building sand dunes) but beach was cleaned everyday and a walk on both sides will get you to nicer/less wavier beaches. We loved the beach area in front of the Rosewood Mayakoba.

There are cabanas reserved for the casitas but they will let you use them if the room is not booked. We never had any issues finding a lounge chair or a bed on the beach chair. Service at the beach was always nice.

Food is inconsistent. Sometimes you can order off the menu items and sometimes you cant.

Overall the food is just ok. Nothing amazing and not a lot of choices unless you want to pay $50+ US for dinner options not in the all inclusive.

The hotel grounds are beautiful with peacocks, monkeys, alligators, lots of birds etc.

The jacuzzi at the beach pool is cold and they wouldnt or couldnt get it to warm up.

The jacuzzi at the spa was warm one day lule warm other day and very inconsistent.

At checkout, nobody asked us how our stay was which is unacceptable.

We booked a trip very last minute & the price was great but ...... to start with "All inclusive" does not mean all inclusive at this resort! There were upcharges for certain menu items in the Ambar restaurant. All inclusive normally means you get the options of several restaurants & anything on the menu! Not at this "exclusive" resort!
There was very little beach & what was there was covered with smelly seaweed. The management opted to leave it there to rot, instead of maybe trying to clear it so the guests could enjoy what little beach there was, there were absolutely no attempts to clear the beach at all! The beach pool was beautiful but the smell was awful! I asked the staff about why they didn't clear the beach & they said they couldn't fight mother nature!
We opted to take the 1 mile bike ride to the spa everyday, the spa was very nice but there was no one there to provide any type of service! You are not allowed to drink in the spa area so nothing to drink but water while you are "relaxing".
The resort is so far from any activities or town that it was a $60.00 round trip taxi ride into Playa Del Carmen.
Don't expect an ocean front room, which is what we were promised, they wanted to upcharge us an additional $500.00/night.
The hot tub in our patio area had to be filled by the staff & they had no way of filling it with hot water so you basically got a tub of cold water to sit in.
The ramp to our room (rPlayafito 619) was falling apart, the lighting was so bad at night we had to make sure we walked along the edge so as not to stumble! I
hate to rate this so low because it could be a beautiful place if someone was taking care of it.....btw, the owner was onsite while we were there, we saw him several times & he never once asked us how we were doing or how our stay was going. We did however have a staff member come to us when we were headed out on an excursion & ask us if we were going to see another resort, this says to me they were a little concerned that there place was not up to par!
The pictures you see in the ads have to be at least 10 years old! I would not recommend this resort to anyone!

We just returned from our belated honeymoon at Blue Diamond, and we are missing it already! The resort was around 10-15% capacity, so it truly felt like we had the place to ourselves. Safety was important to us, especially when traveling to another country during covid. We were very impressed with the fact that not one guest or employee has tested positive since they have reopened. Everyone was very distanced, and we honestly felt there was less risk than near our home in the U.S.

The property itself is beautiful. You get the beachy pool feel, as well as the feel of being in the middle of the jungle. We had a suite on the cenote, and it was beautiful to sit outside and see the view each day. Our room also had a private outdoor bathtub, which we used a few times. They came and put bubbles in the bath and ran the bath for us each time. Our room felt so private, and we could not see any other rooms or guests from our villa, which was great!

The food was incredible. Truly we haven’t been to an all inclusive with better food. The food is all made right on site, so you feel like you are getting the best quality and the most fresh food. The entertainment was also wonderful. There are multiple shows each week, all with different themes and acts. The performers were all wonderful!

The staff is truly what makes this place amazing. The breakfast and lunch team at Aguamarina, (Margarita, Beatriz, Omar, and Dagoberto) were so welcoming and kind and knew our names and food preferences by the second day! The dinner staff was just as impressive. Throughout the nights we were there, we were served by Manuel, Ernesto, and Roman. They were so excellent and always did special things to make our night better. From “smoky margaritas” to making us swans out of the napkins, we had so much fun at dinner each night! At Ambar restaurant, you can sit outside by the cenote, which we highly recommend. There are crocodiles, fish, and turtles in the water, so it’s awesome to eat dinner with a view. Again, you feel like you are in a private restaurant in the middle of the jungle. It’s very cool!

The housekeepers also did an amazing job everyday. Julian was our housekeeper, and he made sure everything was neat and spotless each day. We really appreciated that, especially in a beachy area where sand and sunscreen can make your room messy. The concierge and other staff was also amazing. Everyone there was very responsive and willing to help you with anything you need.

The hot water in our room was not working one day, so we called to have someone repair it. They came quickly and fixed it right up. Management found out about this and did something special to make it up to us, which was very nice.

We also went to the spa, which was great! The steam room and pool area by the spa is beautiful as well! Our treatments were wonderful and relaxing!

It was windy for a few of our days there, but we were able to go snorkeling and do some other fun activities despite the weather.

We would love to go back, even with a few other couple friends. It was wonderful, and we felt like there were more precautions than there are where we live in the U.S. We would definitely recommend it as a safe covid getaway, or as a vacation when things are more open again! It was wonderful!

Unfortunately there were a few amenities advertised at this property that weren't available during our stay (kayaks, cenote swimming, snorkeling, yoga). We did, however, have an incredible experience because of all Blue Diamond staff. Specifically,

Restaurant Aguamarina, Miguel: We're always concerned when traveling because we have dairy allergies. Miguel personalized our dinner experiences, ensuring there was never dairy in our food. He even surprised us multiple nights with lime sorbet!!! We personally connected with Miguel as he taught us local drinks, local recipes, and fun things to do in Riviera Maya. Best server we have EVER had!

Pool bar, Juverli: This night time pool bartender provided great conversation and made us exciting and unique drinks. His fun, approachable, enthusiastic attitude was intoxicating, and, as a result, led to playing cards at the bar, impromptu dance lessons, sharing personal stories, and new friends. You must try his Sangrita, it is the best!

Guest services, Alfredo: Alfredo went out of his way to ensure we were having a great stay despite the fact that our checked bag didn't make it the first 2 days we were there (darn it, American Airlines!). Throughout our 7 day stay, we had frequent conversations that started with discussing our lost baggage and evolved into understanding what life is like on the Yucatan. We love hearing about various cultures and ways of life and Alfredo was the perfect representative to listen to.

The people mentioned above will ensure your trip is a positive, memorable experience.

Our only reason for giving this resort 3 stars is some false advertisement on amenities they used to have, but they don't anymore (e.g. kayaking and cenote swimming). No information on whether these amenities were going to return was given.

We are really saddened to see the rating you have given us despite the excellent service our staff provided during your stay in order to exceed your expectations and earn an excellent rating when due to the weather conditions prevailing in the Mexican Caribbean and the excess of seaweed on the shoreline, the programmed water activities were rescheduled because our guest’s safety is our main priority. Sincerely, We hope you give us the opportunity of hosting you in the near future at, Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel Thank you for choosing to stay with us.

Avoid Blue Diamond. It's a rundown mess. The bathrooms are pretty "open concept" and sadly they are also often non-functional; lack of hot water, lack of water pressure, fixtures falling apart and/or not functional. Definitely take a look at ALL the recent reviews - specifically the 1 and 2 star reviews that they try to bury and hide with solicited reviews. They actually bribe guests with swag to write a favorable review. We witnessed this first hand. There are so many wonderful resorts in the region. This is NOT one of them.

Was there an entire week and didn’t see Esmeralda. You do come across the iguanas, and some monkey type little critters but they are not aggressive at all. If anything, they are probably more scared of us.

Hi, we went in dec 10-21 the water in the bar pool and spa pool is very cold, there are no hot tub/jacuzzis, in the daytime when the sun is out blazing it does get more comfortable to adjust to the water in the outside bar pool! It’s not deep you can walk around in it. The airport was quite quick - id say around 45 minutes.

Regardless of the location. You will probably be taking a golfcart ride to get to the dining and beach area
