This is a great guest house located in the outskirts of the city center but close enough to easily get to the town center. It is in a great location to get the experience of authenticity of the Mexican culture. The guest house is very large with options of individual rooms and private bathroom or large rooms with multiple bunk-beds....

Really nice hostel located outside of the city center of Playa del Carmen. We liked the location of the hostel since it gave us the opportunity to see more of Playa than just the touristic central area. The owner of the hostel is such a nice guy who goes out of his way to help you and make you comfortable!...

Stayed for 2 nights with my sister, we were both surprised at the size as well as the amenities that were offered. There is a living room with a flat screen tv with tons of movies to watch or the possibility to hook up your own laptop. Full kitchen available and also 2 covered common areas outside. Owner was very...

If you want a location that's a actual authentic Playa Del Carmen Mexican experience, Hacienda Del Sol is the best place for you. I was here over Christmas and New Years, and it was amazing! The owner, Marcus is an awesome, generous host who had free margaritas and Jell-O shots and regular barbecues. The place is super clean and the...

This place had the worst 'bed' I've EVER slept in. It's basically springs with a plastic cover. How this has not been mentioned I'll never know, unless the owner opened up the room we stayed in just as a way to make money for New Years. Wouldn't surprise me considering we paid $40 US for a shoebox with a fan...

I wasn't sure if I would like Playa del Carmen, so I only booked one night. Within an hour of arriving at Hacienda del Sol, I had extended my stay. The staff and owner are amazing, they really make you feel at home. They took me out to see the sights and we partied a little bit too. The hostel...

I really wanted to highly rate this place - the woman who works there is so incredibly nice and friendly and helpful but there were a few things that made me down rate it. Good points - good wifi in common room, free films on flat screen TV, kitchen available for use, tours organised. Great staff. Room for improvement -...

Stayed with a total of 15 people, it was comfy and not too crowded. We LOVED IT!! it had a great family feel to it.The hostel is not in the hotel zone or near the beach but if you are looking to have a something unlike the party scene, the location is great. All the amenities were clean and well equipped....

This place is amazing, if you want to party though this might not be the place for you as it is a bit outside of the city center, but there buses goes every five minutes or so and will cost you 5 peso each way. Rooms got AC, have to pay a bit extra for that though, wifi is descent,...

I stayed at a few places in Playa and this is by far the best. It's super relaxing, great price and a really social owner & atmosphere. Every you need is close by and really cheap as it's slightly away from the party zone. It's also really quick and easy to get in to the centre of town when needed...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located outside the tourist driven madness of Playa del Carmen, Hacienda del Sol provides the best of both worlds. Live among the locals with local prices. Save on drinks and food with a variety of local establishments within walking distance. When you're ready for the craziness of Playa or just want to hang at the beach, take one of our bikes, for free! Or take a 5 peso, 10 minute colectivo ride straight into the heart of Playa's party zone. Feeling lazy? Lounge by our pool, or under one of our two breezy cabanas and enjoy a beer. A relaxed environment only minutes away from the infamous 5th avenue. Here at Hacienda del Sol we have 3 lovely dorms, 4 Deluxe privates and a Quad private. Our rooms are bright, spotlessly clean and spacious. All include comfy beds with fresh linen, personal power points and security lockers. They all have fans or AC is available for a small fee. We have a fully equipped kitchen and an outdoor BBQ, which we put to use at least once a week! We have a big screen TV in the common area with hundreds of movies on offer. WIFI of course is complimentary. And we also have ample off-street parking for cars or motorbikes. In short we have everything a traveler could desire, so we hope you'll come and enjoy Hacienda del Sol! ... more   less
