Visited from May 11-18. Weather was perfect. Staff was excellent. Drinks only so so. Not top shelf liquor unless you ask for it. House band at The Plaza most evenings plays mostly Latin....Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia. Shows were worth seeing. $7 cab ride to Playa Del Carmen. Buffet had plenty to choose from. Steaks at the Steakhouse and Krystal were very...

The RIU Palace is really beautiful- great beach, very nice lobby with crystal chandeliers, elaborate and well-manicured grounds, etc. Great romantic getaway- the crowd is almost entirely couples and groups of couples. The rooms are large- essentially suites- all with a balcony. The breakfast/lunch/dinner buffet food is really really good and the Krystal fusion restaurant is excellent. Every staff member...

I originally posted this to the wrong hotel, I stayed at the RUI Mexico, not the Riviera Maya. Here is the repost and some additions. The hotel is beautiful, the grounds were very well maintained and our room was lovely. I enjoyed my trip tremendously...BUT...(sorry Riu but I have to do this) I also had 3 roach sightings...one near the...

My Wife and I have just returned from our Honeymoon here and really cant complain about anything, I cant understand some of the negatives on here, you must understand the complex is 12 years old, and is constantly undergoing repainting etc but nothing to desturb you, the complex apears very fresh, extreemly clean, the loby reminded us of a lavish...

This was our first visit to Mexico. We would definitely recommend the Riu Palace Mexico opposed to any of the other neighbouring Riu Hotels. The other Palace hotel in the complex was exactly the same layout but on a larger scale, it had a sports bar and jewellery shop but I dont feel this is worth the extra costs as...

Everything was wonderful! The hotel lobby is lavish, the service is over the top, the location is paradise, and the atmosphere is right for every type of traveler. There are non-stop activities during the days, plentiful nighttime events, and they cater to everyone - from families with all-aged children, to solo traveler, couples, etc. My room air conditioner never seemed...

Our stay was wonderful. The meals were excellent and the sit down dinners were marvelous. Service was great. Absolutely no complaints about anything. I would stay there again anytime. Even though this is mostly a couple's resort, we found plenty to do as a group of five female friends celebrating our 50th birthday

This was my first visit to Mexico with my mother. She has been maybe 20 times, but never to Playa Del Carmen. The RIU Palace Mexico was amazing. I can't express how friendly and helpful the staff was. I speak almost no Spanish and had no problems communicating. The food and drinks were wonderful. The facilities were always clean. We...
