We traveled to The Reef for our wedding w/ a group of 40+ people in April. Although some of the staff was nice and hospitable, that couldn't make up for how many in our group became ill. Over half of our large party! The Reef Playacar is a beautiful and charming place, but simply cannot ignore this health hazard any...

My husband and I just returned from our stay at the Reef Playacar. We were traveling as a part of a larger group of 9 with the purpose of attending a wedding at the Reef for my brother-in-law. As far as sickness is concerned, no one in our group of 9 people got sick during our stay. My husband and...

We took the trip after we read all the horrible reviews of other people and we were very frightened, but we had a great time. The rooms are spacious and clean, the hotel surroundings are very nice and clean. The beach clean the only bad thing is that the people that offers sea tours parks the boats on the beach...

I am sitting in the lobby as I write this review. I, myself, became ill from the food. I can't say what the cause was but I am thinking it was the way the food was prepared. Having said that, the resort is beautiful. The beach is great. I did spend a few afternoons at the swim up bar, not...

It seems as though the reef club hasnt learned any lessons in nearly a year. In august 2008, we stayed at the hotel and become violently ill with sickness, diarrheoa and stomach cramps, which lasted for a month when we came home. Yes, a month! After reading these reviews, i am appauled that this is still going on. Upon our...

I've stayed at the Reef Club twice. Once in November 2004, and again in Jan 2007. I absolutely loved it. The atmousphere is gorgeous, there are beautiful flowers and vines everywhere, and our hotel room view and balcony were so beautiful. The scenery really made our pictures turn out great. There are also cute little lizards out and about every...

After reading the reviews you will find a common theme. My wife and I stayed here for a short two day trip and never left the resort. We both became very sick the first night we got there and barely made it back home to receive medical attention. The food was horrible the sanitation was appalling. The concierge ( Brandon...

We just returned from staying at The Reef Playacar. Where do I start, this is my 6th trip to Playa De Carmen. We arrived at the Reef with a surprise that my Wife and I have to get a room with 2 double beds instead of the king sized bed we had requested. We went to eat some dinner and...

The sickness going around The Reef was a real thing. A previous review mentioned that the staff blamed it on going into town. No way! Our group of 15 family members had 8 of us getting chills, throwing up, having diarrhea, and stuck in bed for a day or two during our 5 days there. None of us went into...
