We stayed 7 days and it was awesome. Beautiful weather, great people, and awesome employees. Rogelio was our waiter every morning and and some evenings and we truly built a connection with him. By the end of the trip our he felt like family and it was hard to say good-bye. Rogelio made a great trip even better. Great resort...

The good... Its beautiful! Nice, peaceful and relaxing. The front staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. However, there are a few things you should know before booking... The first is the meal plan. If you decide to do it, realize its not all inclusive. The meal plan includes breakfast and lunch, or breakfast and...

We stayed for a week at Mahekal with two adults, two teenagers, and an 11-year old. We had adjoining Palapa Garden view rooms near the lobby. The rooms are beautiful and unique. Ours was relatively quiet and private. Playa del Carmen is a busy beach town so you are going to hear the bass of music from clubs and extremely...

Stayed 4 nights in a treehouse king palapa #199. The suite was spacious with a sitting area, large bathroom and palapa porch with two hammocks. A nice surprise was the outdoor shower. This room is in "the jungle" and is farthest from the beach, but we liked being tucked out of the way. Housekeeping is awesome.......the entire resort was immaculate,...

My husband and I spent one night at Mahekal in transit from Tulum back to the CUN airport, and were very impressed. Neither of us had been to PdC, so as we were winding through town in our cab heading towards the beach, it was such a lovely surprise when we pulled into the gates. You are basically right in...

We spent 3 magical nights in Playa Del Carmen at the Mahekal Beach Resort. The resort is ideally located adjacent to the heart of Playa Del Carmen. A short stroll up 38th Street and you are on 5th Avenue. About 2 miles in length 5th Ave. is where entertainment, shopping and excellent dining options are located. The guestrooms at Mahekal...

Just returned from a week-long stay (our second time at Mahekal and have been visiting this area of Mexico for several years). Once again, this is a fabulous place to stay and can't wait to go back. This is a family trip, and this time there were six adults and five kids. Everyone had an awesome time, and no-one was...

My wife and I came back today from a great trip. This the first non all inclusive we've ever done. We normally stay in a Secrets,Dreams or an Excellent's property. We enjoyed this better because at most All inclusives you have many drunk people, empty drink cups and half eaten food plates laying around the property. We did the half board....

The Mahekal was absolutely amazing! The beach was gorgeous, and the rooms were great! The service was phenomenal, especially Enrique who served us breakfast at the delicious Fuego. The staff at the resort was extremely welcoming and friendly, and definitely made our stay better. I would definitely stay again!

We just returned from 5 days at this amazing resort. The grounds are incredible! So lush and loved waking up to the birds in the morning. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable! The breakfast buffet was delicious, was tons of great choices. Loved seeing Rogelio's smiling face every morning. He always remembered what...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Mahekal Beach Resort is a legendary resort village located on 800 feet of white sand beach in the heart of vibrant Playa del Carmen. It has 198 thatched roof, palapa-style bungalows within steps of Fifth Avenue, the celebrated entertainment, shopping, and restaurant district of Playa del Carmen. The thousands of loyal repeat guests at Mahekal Beach Resort describe it as magical, memorable, and authentically Yucatecan. Our style is friendly and relaxed, a unique Caribbean experience where you can rock gently in a hammock on your private terrace and enjoy undoubtedly the best beach in Playa. Our guests love the fact that we have never compromised our truly unique ambiance and style. In keeping with that style, our rooms do not offer televisions. Instead, they feature original, brightly colored, Mexican tile bathrooms, private terraces with hammocks for siestas and star gazing, and locally-crafted Mexican wood furniture in an outdoor seating area where you can enjoy our magical sanctuary. The Resort offers meal plans that include breakfast daily and lunch or dinner. This choice gives our guests the opportunity to explore the many dining options in Playa del Carmen. ... more   less
