We arrived and had the free choice of two rooms, both of which were delightful. The rooms are furnished beautifully and with an original taste. Alex welcomed us personally (with tequila!), and showed us around including pointing out the town from the terrace with comprehensive recommendations for the both what to see and do in and out of town (with...

Alex will answer all your questions via email even before you get there. We felt safe and secure while there and while walking to the parks, shops, cathedra, bank ATM,l and restaurants. Short taxi rides to museums. Ask Alex to arrange tours for you to the ruins and cenotes.

Came back for a repeat visit. Why go anywhere else? Close to Centro, fantastic host that will bend over backwards to accommodate any reasonable demand, tequila on the rooftop ... just for starters. I wrote a review in 2016, and that same 5 star experience remains. One more thing: I needed emergency dental work. Alex arranged the dentist, drove me...

This is a stunning house with a beautiful roof terrace in North central Merida. The rooms are elegant and kept very well. Alex is also a wonderful host and incredibly generous. His 3-course, home cooked breakfasts and tequila evenings are included in the room price and are always amazing. He was even happy for us to invite friends over to...

We loved our 3 night stay at the Hotel Julamis. The king size best was super comfortable and the nicest bed we slept in during our trip to Mexico. The breakfast everyday was delicious and different, set in a courtyard. The tequlia on the rooftop patio everynight was a great opportunity to interact with other guests, which made our stay feel...

We had a great time at this hotel and it was a perfect rest after our explorations of the Mayan sites and and the jungle of Chiapas and Tabasco. Alex is the perfect host and makes a 'wicked' breakfast in the small courtyard of the hotel (a converted colonial building), accompanied by opera and the the aroma of his breakfast...

We returned to the Julamis again this year. We have stayed in many of the rooms, eaten an incredible variety of Alex's famous breakfasts, drank his wine and tequila, followed his excellent suggestions of the newest and best restaurants Merida offers as well as the hottest taco stand in town and never been disappointed. Each morning over breakfast, guests exchange...

We spent several nights here and enjoyed it. Alex is a wonderful host, and nothing is too much trouble for him. Breakfast was outstanding, and the room was quiet and comfortable when we had figured out the fan and AC. Street parking was fine.

We were warmly welcomed by Alex on arrival. After showing us our room, he showed us to the rooftop where there is a refreshing jacuzi (cold water on a hot day - yes), comfortable lounge chairs and sofa and chairs in a bar area, and complementary tequila available all the time, as well as fresh beach towels. He gave us...

What a relaxed, friendly place…and an absolute bargain. There is complimentary tequila every evening for happy hour, a chef’s breakfast (not at all daunted by our vegetarian status, but happy enough to give us a mockingly-hard time about it), and fantastic ‘Chef Alex’ life stories whenever we spend time chatting. We were in the Corazon room, which is the best...
