Las Arecas is a beautiful colonial house with spacious impeccably clean guest rooms and wonderful hosts! Mauro and Raul are wonderful warm people, and breakfast provided is fantastic. Fresh fruits, eggs cooked to order with toast, and fresh squeezed in and coffee every morning. Toto their pooch greets you with a wagging tail every morning, and the breeze through the...

Over six years have stayed in three out of four of their rooms, and all have been absolutely great! Rooms are very spacious-- high ceilings and tile floors with many windows. Love the two upstairs rooms. Great for one or two people. Two beautiful patios with a fountain, and Mauro is a great resource for the area. Highly recommended !

We enjoyed our stay at Las Arecas very much. Our host Mauro was so nice and it was very interesting talking to him. The location of Las Arecas is perfect for exploring the city of Merida. Our room was a bit hot, so we had to leave the AC on for the whole night. Everything is very clean. The breakfast...

This B&B is located in a beautiful colonial house, close to the main square. Rooms are spacious and clean, with a little kitchenette and a fridge, fans and A/C (although it took a while for our room to cool down). Mauro, the owner, is extremely friendly and provides you with an extensive breakfast. The WiFi is good enough to use...

I spent 10 days in Las Arecas in January and can find very little to complain about. Mauro is a very gracious host, and provides an excellent breakfast, always with fresh fruit and sweet roll and lots of fresh coffee. My room was in the back, away from the noise of the city, and was large and well appointed, with...

Bob & Maggie We would echo the comments of previous reviewers. Our accommodation consisted of two spacious rooms plus a sparkling bathroom. The pristine linen and towels were changed every second day. All this combined with a modest breakfast, central location and friendly owner for a price under M$ 500 per night made it very good value.

Las Arecas is an excellent choice for a stay in Merida. It is an old colonial building with nice patios. Our room had a small kitchen with refrigerator but there is also a common kitchen that can be used. Room and bath room were clean. Mauro the owner is a very friendly person. Center is in walking distant. Atmosphere is...

This place is in Lonely Planet or Rough Guide travel books. It is not well noticed from the street, but it is a nice and very quiet place to stay near the center park of Merida, Yucatan, in Mexico. I think you will enjoy the owner and his little dog, Toto. You are free to come and go at your...

One of the cheapest places we stayed in Mexico it massively exceeded our expectations (clean, comfortable and we even had aircon!). The owner is lovely, it's less than a 10min stroll to the Zocalo and there's a kitchen we could use to make tea/coffee and breakfast, what more could you want? If we visit Merida again we'll definitely come back...

I lucked out when I found this place! First of all Mauro is very kind and helpful. And my room is lovely. See some pictures I took of my room. There are only 4 rooms here, and it's surprisingly quiet, even though it's a short walk to the center of town...just a few blocks. It comes with a house dog,...
