The Gran Hotel de Merida is grand! If you want to see what makes Merida a historic gem, stay here. Built in 1901 and always a hotel, the open courtyard gives you the feel of life in the 1900s, especially when it rains. The rooms are small, but our 3rd floor room had two balconies overlooking the Parque Manuel Cepeda....

The best thing about this hotel is the location: it is right in the center of Mérida, very close to the main sightseeings and amazing restaurants. Being in the middle of everything, it doesn't have parking on-site available, but some blocks away there is a parking they have an agreement with, and with the hotel stamp you can park there...

We really enjoyed our stay at the Gran Hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel is old so you should not expect modern conveniences and luxury. The bedroom was lovely and the air conditioning worked very well. Air conditioning is not available elsewhere in the hotel. The hotel is centrally located in Centro Historica district. Restaurants, parks,...

If you're looking for a modern snappy hotel with all the trappings, this is likely not it. If you're looking for an opportunity to stay in a beautiful grande dame of a hotel, cared for by a dedicated staff who very obviously loves her in spite of her flaws, then this place is for you. The lobby is extraordinary. The...

If you like modern, cookie-cutter hotels - this may not be the best choice for you... its a historic building (first hotel built in Merida) that has gone through several 'modernizations' during its history. You'll be impressed by the classic central courtyard/atrium - but you also need to know that there is no elevator, so you'll have to climb the...

I stayed here and I was impressed cause it's so historic. Not perfect by any means but the colonial tiles and architecture are amazing. The rooms are fantastic and I enjoyed my stay. So close to the city and they validate for parking down the street.

Grand style from another age which perfectly reflects the character of the town. Beautiful open atrium with grand marble stair case and wide walkways furnished with antique furniture. Comfortable well equipped rooms. I stayed in one overlooking the square on which it is situated. Well located for all local sights, bars, etc. Helpful and welcoming staff. Fair pricing

Right in the middle of the action. Very helpful staff. European feel. *Very nice and everything comfortable.* I was delighted to have made this choice. Muy bonita and a great place to start an adventure in Merida and place to come home to for the night! They gave me a room on the 2nd floor right over the square. Excellent....

We booked because of it's beauty, location and price. It was a lovely visit to Merida and this hotel was part of this experience. My only complaint is that we were on the top floor (very hot 3rd) and the bags had to be carried. The staff was friendly and accommodated us with the couple of issues that we had-...

We loved the old world feel of this hotel. It was like stepping into a museum only you are allowed to stay. Although it was not without some cosmetic flaws, work was being done on it. The service was as good as the best we have experienced in our travels and well above most that we have gotten. The location...
