Right on the main plaza so very convenient for everything. Private room was nice and clean but sound travels very well and top of walls was just screening. Awesome breakfast, probably the best of the hostels we stayed at. Big common area but not really set up for meeting people/socializing. Nothing really bad to say, but we found another hostel...

Zocalo is a great hostel. It is located right on the Plaza Grande, and that's the center of Merida. Places to see, take buses to other places or around town, visit the mercado municipal for a great and cheap seafood! Moses, the owner, is a great friendly easy going guy. The place feels like home, and to prove this it...

I stayed at Zocalo for 3 nights at the start of January. Firstly the location of the hostel is great. It is right on the square, which is beautiful by the way. The hostel itself is also beautiful. The private rooms downstairs are basic, but the dorms were excellent. The owner is a cool guy and the atmosphere of the...

For the value, Hostal Zocalo is my hands down favorite place to stay in Mérida. I've stayed and visited numerous other hotels, hostels, and even rented rooms and apartments while living in Mérida during the two months or so that I was there. It's as good as it gets because you are right on the main square. If you have...

Hostal Zocalo is perhaps the most fabulous and most amenable hostel I have ever stayed in. The staff is amazing, extremely helpful, and the place attracts the nicest group of hostelers I've ever met. Kudos to Moises and the staff for making my third experience in Merida the best ever!

The room given was noisy and right next to the reception, the view on the park is nice of course, but that may be the only positive side. I'd say the price is way too expensive for the service. The worst was at night the receptionist who was watching movies and therefore had to ask that I wanted to sleep...

Amazing breakfast, amazing staff, friendly travelers, great wifi connection, chill atmosphere, perfect location. Everything you want in a hostel. Ended up staying a lot longer than I expected. I didn't stay anywhere else in Merida, but I wouldn't now.

my girlfriend and i ended up here quite by accident. this place is special. a lot of people posting and a lot of people reading are most interested in the aesthetics of the place, so i'll talk about those first. the beds are the most comfortable we'd felt in our last 5 weeks of travel through Chiapas and Yucatan (including...

Agreat place! Friendly athmosphere in which it is easy to come to know more people. Don Jose of Hostal Zocalo serves a special breakfast for all! (Desayuno especial para todos!) One will remember afterwards.

Awesome views from balcony rooms, great kitchen, massive complimentary breakfast, and a very kind and gracious host who is always working to improve his beautiful hostel. The clientele is young and international and the staff was sweet and friendly. Lights out at 11pm meant that the dorm folks slept well, and a sunken terraza meant that we could listen to...
