Privilege Aluxes is celebrated for its prime location close to picturesque beaches and attractions. The resort's amenities, including diverse dining options and a vibrant beachside atmosphere with live music, are a hit among guests, although the quest for improved cocktails and more consistent hot water is noted. While the rooms are generally clean and equipped, some guests have reported maintenance issues.
The service receives a mixed response, with commendable friendliness but occasional inconsistency. Cleanliness across the hotel is consistently applauded, even as opinions on value vary.

I just got back from my trip to Privilege and it was everything I had hoped it would be. I have never felt so relaxed and pampered in my life!
Beach: The workers are out there every morning before sunrise raking the beach so that the sand is soft and seaweed free! We were lucky to find a bed with a cabana everyday at the beach (I got there around 9:30 AM everyday). The water was cool and refreshing but not too cold to swim in. I'm from the northeast so it was a nice change.
Service: Everyone was so kind and helpful. At every restaurant, they pulled out my seat and laid a napkin on my lap for me. They were always there asking if I needed another drink or food.
Room: We booked the superior room with the whirlpool bath and it was perfect. The shower had a glass door and a removable head. I was a little worried about the whirlpool bath before I arrived, but it was cleaned everyday and was a nice touch when we had one drizzly afternoon. Our room faced a side street, but we never heard any noise from inside our room.
Food: We loved the food. I HIGHLY recommend booking the all inclusive option because you are offered so much food! My favorite was sitting on the beach and ordering food (tacos, nachos, guacamole, chicken wings etc.) and eating at the beach club. For dinner, the beach club has live music and tiki torches creating a romantic atmosphere. We also ordered room service which was 24h and it was delivered within an hour.
Safety: I always felt safe on the resort. There is security on the beach and they do not let outside people onto the beach or into the resort itself (including beach bathrooms).
Tips: I tipped in pesos, but I saw other people tip in American dollars.

Wow!
We have been to Isla Mujeres about 4 times, and this place this year we booked is by far the classiest and cleanest place we have ever stayed at on this island. We did the inclusive breakfast only, because we wanted to eat from the local restaurants and culture of this island as we have done before. There breakfast buffett was awesome and staff.....VERY.. professional. Not sure why we had to sign in each day giving our room number, seeing we had the white band around our wrist, but it was easy. The grounds, pools and Spa was simply amazing. I did the one day spa with full massage, and added it to my room charges. They had a special that day, and it was well worth it. Pool bar was very accommodating when we asked for ice for our cooler as we went down to the beach every day. They take care to have an area were beach vendors are not allowed to bother you, and they keep the beach extremely neat and clean each and every day.
Sunday we stayed on the grounds of the resort all day and bought a day bracelet for lunch and dinner. We ate dinner at the beach restaurant, and the service and food was 5 star
I know I sound redundant, but if we go back again to Isla M, we will definitely stay at this place again!

We've stayed at many AI resorts, including The Moon Palace, Valentin Imperial Maya, Iberostar Quetzel, Royalton, NOW Sapphire, Marina el Cid, Grand Sirenis, Grand Palladium, Grand Bahia, Sandos, RIU, Dreams Dominicus, etc. This was our first visit to Isla Mujeres and we had a wonderful time at Privilege Aluxes. Â We stayed 10 days, with a breakfast-only package and ate out for lunch and dinner.
PA is a lovely resort, very well-managed and our visit started off with a wonderful welcome from Jesus at the front desk.
Cleanliness
Resort is SPOTLESS. Grounds and rooms are kept immaculate as are the beach and the pools. The groundskeepers work tirelessly keeping the plantings beautiful. All employees wore masks at all times.
Beach/Pool
One of the most beautiful stretches of beaches in the world – gorgeous turquoise water, with no seaweed. The pool is large and very clean and around happy hour, it’s a party zone – we met tons of friendly people from all over – definitely a couples resort – met no singles at all. Plenty of chairs, most of the time. The location is ideal because it’s about 50 yards away from the party zone but close enough to walk over to the MIA lagoon to snorkel.
Entertainment
Live entertainment most days during happy hour at the pool and we loved the sax player who entertained at the beach in the evening.
Rooms
Housekeeping is excellent and the rooms are perfect. No issues whatsoever with A/C or the safe – everything worked perfectly and slept great – super quiet on the 4th floor.
Food
We are picky healthy eaters and loved all the amazing breakfast options – something for everyone – both healthy and not so healthy. We’re spoiled, having been to so many other resorts, so our expectations are high and this resort met them!! Breakfast was served a la carte but you can order as many entrees/sides as you want.
Our only complaint would be that the restaurant seemed very understaffed most days, which led to a lack of personal attention to details. When we entered breakfast each morning, they ask each guest their room number/name. After ten days, you’d think the breakfast crew would at least know SOMETHING about us…honestly, they knew nothing. In fact, around day 8, I was waiting for our table, outside by the bar, when the maître d came up and asked if I was a guest at the resort!?! Seriously – after a week, you’d think they’d know their people…this was my only complaint. At other resorts, where we typically stay a week, usually the hostesses/servers know us after a few days because we’re friendly and enjoy getting to know the staff. We even left a very generous tip the first morning, to start off the week right, but literally made no difference.
That minor detail aside, we would definitely return to Privilege Aluxes and highly recommend it! Feel free to message me with any questions.

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. I cannot write a good enough review about this hotel. I continue to tell everyone I speak to about Mexico about the specific hotel and experience. It really was that amazing!!
First off it’s very easy to fly in to Cancun use USA transfers to get an easy transfer to the ferry dock. Ride a 15 minute ferry over to isla. Get off the ferry and walk two blocks to your left to get to the hotel.
The room was stunning. We had the presidential suite facing the ocean and we’re staying with one other couple. It was an apartment style room we all had a lot of room to spread out in and also had our very own patio with a pool overlooking the ocean. The hotel is clear when you get on property you do not need to wear a mask which was so wonderful to all of us. There is not a ton of rooms here so you’re not dealing with a lot of people. The fitness center was open as long as we made reservations and we did so two times.
Daily we ate breakfast at a wonderful restaurant on the property where the service was excellent. When I have stayed here before it’s been a buffet but because of Covid everything is now on the menu which was wonderful and served quickly. We also chose to eat at the Asian restaurant two times because it honestly was wonderful. We then ate at the beach club restaurant for dinner which has also an excellent menu and has entertainment nightly which was awesome.
Daily we rented very inexpensively a beach bed cabana for each of us on the most amazing beautiful beach in all of isla. We would then move to the pool hotel where pretty much everybody in the hotel met up around the swim up bar with nice playing music and just visit. We would then move up to our suite to hang out in our pool order room service appetizers and drinks. The staff was so amazing they literally would call every half hour to see if we wanted more drinks. Because the hotel is smaller service is excellent the servers remember you they know your name and they are right there to help you with anything.
We will definitely be back. I can tell you make sure to rent directly through their website and do not utilize any other site. I will continue to tell anyone I talk with Mexico about this hotel!

This was my/our 5th stay at PA and I am happy to be able to continue to recommend it. The biggest plus for the property is location, location, and location. It is almost directly on the beach facing the Cancun mainland. a 10 minute walk or $3.00 taxi ride from the ferry terminal where you will probably arrive on Isla Mujeres. The location is very close to world famous Playa Norte and is within a short walk of Ave. Hidalgo loaded with shops, bars, and restaurants.
I must say that I enjoyed meals at PA....particularly breakfast. Head waiter, Omar, and his staff are fantastic. For dinners, however, I always choose one of the nearly 200 restaurants on the island. Some are truly not to be missed. I can't see "All Inclusive" locking myself into one location for my entire vacation when there are so many wonderful culinary experiences to be had.
Another major plus at PA is the Spa. Almost worth the trip in itself. Manager, Rossana, and her entire staff provide some of the best spa services I have experienced anywhere and at a most reasonable price. Check it out, located by the pool.
Room selection is critical. Understand exactly what ( and where) you are getting when you book if you can. I'd really try to avoid rooms in Building #1 and those facing the grave yard or road with the nearby school unless noise is not a consideration for you. Pool View and Ocean View are pricy but you get what you pay for.
PA has recently renovated the Sabor restaurant and the lobby. I dis miss the breakfast buffet....perhaps it will return post Covid.

Amazing ocean views, beautiful beach, 3 pools, good food, good drinks, and excellent service.
The customer service is friendly, professional, polite and it makes a big difference to your vacation.
The location is perfect in the centre of town and about a 5-minute walk from the ferry.
Check-in was friendly and efficient with a complimentary drink which was nice.
*TIP: book your ocean view room well ahead of time
Excellent drinks service at the beach to your lounger - those guys never stop all day!
The bathrooms were always kept super clean at the beach and the meals at the beach restaurant were tasty with excellent service.
Breakfast: someone shows you to your table for breakfast which is pleasant as it means that you don’t have to search for a clean table every day.
The rooms are beautiful and kept really clean. We had an amazing ocean view from
our large balcony. Many rooms on the higher floors have amazing views. The room was quiet and we slept so well the whole time.
I had 2 special requests and both were met while I stayed here. The staff are all doing their best to give excellent service.
Your vacation will be great here!

We stayed for a week the end of January 2020. Traveled with a total of 10 family members and had 5 rooms reserved.
We came here based on our neighbors reviews(having stayed here the last 2 years) and were not disappointed, from the time we checked in we were well taken care of and I believe everyone thought the resort was just what we needed.
All 5 rooms we booked were standard rooms but we didn't realize not all standard rooms have balcony's. The resort upgraded 3 of the rooms to rooms with a Jacuzzi, and the other 2 rooms had balcony's. We very appreciated this.
Everyone in our group thought the food was very good, we didn't eat at Satay so cant comment on that.
All employees we encountered were very helpful and the beach waiters were most accommodating in making sure you had everything you needed from drinks to food.
Beach was great for swimming and you could walk to the Mia resort in around 15-20 minutes, no snorkeling in front of resort and very little to see at the Mia resort.
Pools are heated and we liked them like that as we have been to other larger resorts where the water in the pools are to cold at this time of year to enjoy.
We booked directly with the resort and received a better rate and didn't need to pay until check in which was nice.
Rented golf carts through the resort as the price was just as good if not cheaper that others in the area.
Definitely will be coming back to Privilege Aluxes next year.

My husband and I and another couple tried Privilege this year (we usually stay our two weeks in other North Beach hotels) and ended up (after numerous requests during our year-in-advance reservation for Superior third floor ocean view rooms) with 2nd and 3rd floor end rooms with a glint of ocean view if you strained your neck. The rooms faced a stucco wall surrounding the dilapidated property next door. There was street noise, terrible views and the rooms were right beside an incredibly loud outdoor discotheque that spewed tortuously amplified recorded and bad Mexican vocal rap until 3:00 a.m.
After phone complaints that night and numerous discussions with staff the next day, we were given rooms on the street side of another of the hotel's buildings which had harbor views and overlooked the active school and playground. There we experienced getting stuck in the elevator and, after three more people got stuck, having the elevator out of order for three days, forcing us to walk to/from floors 4 and 5! Our ceiling developed a major leak which required construction repairs in our room for two days and drips onto a soggy rug for one day. Yes, there was a nasty smell.
After many discussions with staff about this major inconvenience, the hotel finally relented and gave us all inclusive for the rest of the stay, which we barely used because we enjoy experiencing the Isla restaurants. A representative said the arrangement included use of a beach bed, but when we tried using a bed the next day another staff person came to the beach bed with two beach staff persons and told us we would have to pay. We refused and explained but were told we were wrong. Our friends intervened and said they would pay and were charged the $45. The next day we met with the staff person who had told us we could use the bed at no charge and she agreed she had done so and advised her fellow staff person who had made a show of disputing our understanding of the compensation offered by his colleague/boss.
Our fifth stay at PA, and first time AI. It's been 8 years since the last visit and the resort has gone through many improvements and updates. We had an Ocean View Deluxe Suite, fourth floor in building three (#341), and everything about it was great. AI included the minibar, and there is a coffee maker in the room, but we used room service pre-order door hangers provided for coffee each morning. Service was prompt and very complete. AC worked well, all of the features of the room worked fine, and there was no hint of any smells or insects. Cleaning was thorough and with the exception of our last day the room was done up by 11am (thanks Fernando!). The bathroom includes a jacuzzi tub and shower and is well stocked with toiletries every day. Elevators a small but worked just fine and all the common areas of the hotel were immaculate.
As for the Covid situation, we were there during the Yellow Phase and staff was always masked and encouraged hand sanitizing. We were told at check in that masks were not required at the pool or beach or while seated in the restaurants. Since they were at about 30% occupancy (is seemed that towers 1&2 were actually closed) there was never any issue with 'social distancing'. We usually forego AI in favor of exploring the islands other options, but after seeing the lax attitude towards mask wearing by many tourists on Hidalgo and elsewhere we decided to take advantage of our resort and AI option and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and availability of food and drink. The Beach Club menu was especially good. We also had two dinners in Satay and the food and service were excellent.
The best feature of the whole resort is the staff! From our many booking adjustments with Giselle to check in and other front desk services by Cynthia, bellman Gorge and Jaime, bar staff Ivan, Daniel, and others everyone was pleasant, and most of all efficiently accommodating! Thank you all for making ours a lovely vacation.

We have to say that each time we visit Isla Mujeres we stay at Privilege Aluxes and although the resort and location are amazing, the staff are one of the main reasons we keep coming back.
Some of the staff who I would like to mention are Jesus, Jaime, Hugo, Jose, Alex Sergio, Diana, the staff at the spa, so many more servers, the gardening staff, the house keeping staff, even the security guard who stops traffic when we cross the road and turns the water on when we need to wash sand from our feet. Everyone is friendly, genuinely cares about you and remember us year after year!
The only two negative bits of feedback are the (I assume they are management) guys in the long sleeve light blue shirts. They never smiled or asked anything other than what room number we are. They seemed disinterested in everything except staring at the staff. Perhaps they were glaring I can't say for sure because I wasn't in the line of sight.
The other bit of feedback is that the clubhouse sandwich we had on the beach was very disappointing. Last year it had a chicken breast this year it seemed like a few chunks of chicken in mayonnaise or something. Otherwise everything was amazing and we will be back!! Just hope the feedback about the staff in light blue long sleeve shirts learn how to have customer service. They can learn from the long time staff!
We will be back.
