I hate insects. My husband squashed three centipedes, one scorpion, two roaches, fifty five thousand mosquitoes, all before going to sleep. The bed and the pillows were not comfortable, regardless of my fear to go to sleep. If you are a bug lover (or a bug eater) perhaps this is your place to be, but not ours. The pyramids of... More

We stayed at the Hacienda Chichen for my husband's birthday while traveling in the Riviera Maya and Yucatan Peninsula and we really enjoyed the beautiful gardens that surround the hotel. The location is perfect if you want to visit Chichen Itza in the early morning before the crowds get there. The landscape and gardens at the hotel were beautiful however... More

Like others have said, the hotel is beautiful. I enjoyed taking a nature walk into the jungle area. (with lots of bug spray on). There were many beautiful birds and iguanas on the ground, which made it interesting for my 4 year old. And the pool was imaculate, which is pretty hard to do in the jungle. The food was... More

My family stayed at the Hacienda for one night primarily to get an early start at the nearby ruins. First, be sure to bring mosquito spray. This hotel certainly has a lot of charm and character to it. The lay out and landscape and architecture of the buildings combine to make a pleasant and intriguing experience. The buildings are spread... More

The grounds are beautiful, and for most people this would be worth it. We had a master suite right next to the spa, and the room was nice too, and very spacious. The pool area is beautiful, the old main house is beautiful, and walking around you really feel like you are in the Spanish colonial past. Not to mention... More

I am recommending this place albeit with a number of reservations about it. Felt it didn't meet the service and quality standards it should have given the prices: Pros: historic 16th-17th century hacienda with smaller casitas around the grounds for guests. Atmospheric, intimate, relaxed setting, lush gardens with a nice pool, room was simple but nice, large bathroom with amenities.... More

We just returned from a five night stay at the Hacienda Chichen just a short walk from the magnificent Mayan Ruins of Chichen Itza. As the crowded buses drove in and out and all around us...we ate delicious meals on the hotel terrace, swam in the refreshing pool while gazing all around us at the lush gardens and soaring palm... I have already reviewed this Hacienda, and wanted to add some new advise.. book a honeymoon room or better... it was a HUGE upgrade from the next level down. the food is OK, and indeed pricey, but of all of the area accommodations, Hacienda Chichen is still the best choice. We booked a honeymoon suite and stayed in the "... More

Based on previous reviewers comments, we booked just one night at Hacienda Chichen (so that we could wake up early the next morning for that much recommended 8am start) and had fairly low expectations of our stay. Arriving in the late afternoon, check in was very quick and easy. Before we knew it we were whisked across the entrance driveway... More

We enjoyed our overnight here, and thought it a perfect, if pricy, place from which to visit the ruins. The rooms are in bungalows scattered around beautiful tropical gardens, each with a patio and hammock. The rooms are quite simple, but we found the beds comfortable, and had no problems with hot water, as other reviewers have. We ate our... More
