My wife and I spent 16 days in a rental car going 900 miles exploring Mayan ruins. We stayed at the Villas Arqueologicas in Chitchen Itza for three nights. overall we were very happy with our stay. The rooms were nice and the whole hotel was in a great setting near the ruins. We arrived late in the day on... More

This rather odd little hotel is well located for a visit to the Mayan ruins. It is quite okay for a one night stay - would not recommend it for any longer. Tired but okay. Slightly quirky rooms. It has a sense of having closed for business but is operating anyway. The pool may have last been used a decade... More

First the good. The hotel is well decorated and the grounds - while small - were nicely landscaped. The room itself has a lovely regional color scheme with flower accents painted on the walls. Villas Arqueologicas appears to be a hotel catering more to adult travelers and we appreciated the peace and serenity after a long day hiking the ruins.... More

Villas Arqueologicas is a chain of 5 almost identical hotels next to archeological sites. The hotels try to look stylish and are in good shape, but the rooms are extremely cramped and uncomfortable. The rooms are so small that they even do not fit a table and a chair or a queen size bed. After lots of complaining about the... More

My wife and I arrived at Chichen Itza by bus from Tulum. The bus stops at the main entrance, whilst Villa Archeologica (and the other hotels) are located at the bottom entrance. You can't walk through the ruins to get to the bottom entrance (unless you pay the admission charge, of course) and it's too far to walk along the... More

This is an excellent choice for those who would like to be close to the ruins but don't want to pay through the nose for it; their room rates are substantially less than what is being asked for at neighbouring hotels, roughly $70-80 USD per night including taxes ( there are early-booking discounts available on the hotel's website as long... We had stayed in Coba the night before and had already booked this one online as my travel mate had stayed there a 5 years previous. What a mistake, there are much better options and at a better price tag, again with the charging me for a cup of coffee after paying just under 200 bucks for a dark, musty... More

If you are looking for some comfort near an old mayan city, than this is it: Villas Arqueologicas. It's located just 3 minutes walking from the second entrance of Chichen Itza (which makes you avoid the parking fee to visit the site and offers you the possibilty to go to the light show in the park in the evening). The... More

We stayed two nights. Modern, full-service hotel with 45 rooms, much less expensive than some nearby hotels. Rooms are small, and are comfortable and very attractive without being ornate. Meal plan is fine if you want an American breakfast and a four-course dinner. Otherwise it is more economical to order off the menu. It’s a 10-minute walk to the ruins.... More

The ruins are literally a 2 minute walk. The food at the hotel restaurant is wonderful tradition yucatacan. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to explore Chichen Itza. It's also just about 30 minutes from Coba which is one of the only Mayan cities you can still climb on and explore. The beds are fairly small but very... More
