40th Anniversary vacation. We loved this place the service through out the hotels was great. We enjoyed the restaurants and each has o=its own attraction. We usually hung out at the pool, that was quieter. We took many great naps by the pool. We liked the attention the maid was super. A good price and value.

We were extremely disappointed in this resort and will not return to it. We have stayed at several resorts in the Cancun area over the past several years and have always been very happy with the accommodations. This was not the case for Riu. Upon arriving, the lady that checked us in could not stop complaining about how she was ready to go home. We were then charged a fee for seaweed clean up which we have never been charged at any of the resorts. Once we got to our room, we were already thinking that this place was a mistake. The pillows on the bed smelled like mildew and the room itself just did not look clean. The second day we started noticing that the couch smelled like mildew as well and we asked to change rooms. They did change our room but the maid service was not great. They did not ever really clean the bathroom countertop or faucets the entire time we were there. The bed was never fully made and it just never looked very clean. Luckily I had packed sanitizing wipes so that I could wipe everything down. As far as the service, it was lacking. The other resorts that we have stayed at have really gone above and beyond. At Riu, it was difficult to get someone to wait on you and once you did, they did not appear to be very happy to be there at all. The mask police were everywhere inside the resort. They would yell at you or hold their little mask signs. At night it was difficult to sleep because the entertainment area is right there will all the rooms so you would hear loud music/karaoke until at least midnight and then you could hear everything go on in the halls. If you did choose o stay up later, once it turned midnight they would ask you to leave the common areas. It was like we had a curfew. Some of the food was good but the seafood was not. We went to the Steak restaurant one night and my husband had surf and turf and his shrimp was rubbery. I had the salmon and only took a couple of bites because it just did not taste right. Usually when we go to Mexico, we don't want to leave but staying at this resort, we were ready to leave. When we were checking out we were told there were additional charges that we needed to pay. You are supposed to have free wifi and they give you a code when you check in. Apparently, the code is only good for 1 guest and any other guest staying in that room that connects to the wifi is charged per day. I could go on but basically it was just an unpleasant experience and we will not return to Riu. Hope others have a better experience.

My first time traveling to Cancun is definitely a memorable one. Stepping in for the first time I must say the fixtures and interior is impressive. I love how it is very clean and the staff are very nice and always willing to help. I would like to give a shout out to Franccesca for the recommendations on where the parties are at. She’s a professional and has a great personality. I will come back next year. Thank for the great memories.

RIU was nice and accommodating, but the only reason I would come back to the hotel is for the Entertainment Crew (especially Francesca). All of the activities (dancing, music, volleyball, step aerobics, water aerobics etc) were amazing! I’ve never spent sunup to sundown at the pool on vacation, but this trip I would not dare to leave the action. I came to RIU as a party of 2, and I feel like I left with a ton of new friends. If you’re looking for a place to relax and have fun - look no further! I’ll be back…
