First of all, special mention to Fernanda at the reception who met our expectations well and who was exceptionally kind to us. The food is excellent and all the staff is extremely courteous. This hotel is extremely clean. Always cleaning floors, bathrooms,...
You can hear people screaming in the hallways, which has woken us up a few times. Lack of soundproofing. On the side of the rooms between 01 and 15, it is very quiet since we are far from the noise of animation. The hotel is well located and there is a grocery store(Walmart style) nearby which allowed us to bring back tequila and souvenirs at a very good price. I would come back to that without any problem.

Myself and my partner have just sadly returned home from the beautiful RIU CANCUN, we both had a great 2 week stay and all i can say is wow, the staff are incredible and so efficient whether you were on the beach, pool or sitting down for dinner the drinks were flowing. Highly recommend the "mudslide cocktails" if your a coffee lover. The cleanliness of the whole hotel was on point including the rooms.
The food there was so much verity to choose from everything was cooked fresh and to perfection and tasted delicious and great to know if you fancied other options there was other resturants to choose from.
The beach was stunning, every morning it was being cleaned, you had the odd approach from people trying to sell you bits but they were never pushy but that's part of the experience of being in mexico, dont like it... Off to blackpool you go!
It was just me and my partner were in our early 30s and love a drink and atmosphere so it was great for us, all i will say if your looking for quiet and relaxing i would definitely look elsewhere, the music is pretty much all day and night with a lot of people intoxicated so people with young kids it may not be suitable.
Different facilities such as gym and spa as well as a out door massage bit so you can enjoy the veiws. Also on the beach you could jet ski for roughly $70 or canoeing you could pay to use the boat for $3 and after that use it as many times as you like, highly recommend!
Smoking/vape vapes are available to buy but very expensive around 25 dollars avoid buying any from anyone selling on the beach as someone we had met they paid by card and took ÂŁ70 out of her account, you can pretty much but them from any shop. As for smoking theres a destination outside the hotel or a smoking corner near the back of the hotel.
Rooms are nice and spacious, cleaned everyday insless you put the sign on the door if you want it left, drinks are refilled every other day, towels are supplied as well as soaps, body wash and a hair dryer (a pretty decent one too!)
Entertainment is every night, we saw some fantastic performances and its great they try to get everyone involved. There's an on site night club that opens if you want to carry on partying. Throughout the day theres always entertainment from volley ball, dancing like a tit round the pool, foam partys, bingo and more!
Overall we'd like to thank the hotel staff for an incredible stay and a holiday to remember. Hopefully we will be back sometime soon. Thank you x

Myself and my partner stopped here for 2 weeks. The food was excellent and plenty of different choice, we tried the steak house and the Italian, both lovely, the hotel could do with a renovation but we weren't fussed on that as it didn’t effect our stay.
Very clean they always have cleaners picking rubbish up or cleaning the floors. Rooms were fine very spacious, we were above the sports bar but couldn’t hear any noise from below.
We went to coco bongos and booked through the rep (jack) very friendly and as we went on a Tuesday they had a riu area for guests from the hotel as well as some staff members. Also we went to the Riu party’s and loved the neon one. Shuttle busses were well organised.
The beach wasn’t in good condition but that was no fault of the hotel, just due to the recent storms.
Overall very good experience and wouldn’t listen to some of the bad reviews as we really enjoyed our time there and will definitely be back. The location of the hotel is perfect for people who like to venture out aswell just avoid the shop inside the hotel as there is a massive supermarket around the corner

We visited for a long weekend and had a nice time overall. Check-in was smooth, and the welcome champagne was a nice touch. The staff really made our stay enjoyable—everyone, from the check-in team to the bartenders, servers, and even the groundskeepers, was friendly, attentive, and hardworking. We were impressed by how much effort they put into making guests feel welcome. We were happy to tip generously, especially after seeing the dedication of the entire team.
The rooms are a bit dated, but the cleaning staff does a great job of keeping them tidy. While the furnishings could use an update, everything felt clean and well-maintained. The beds and pillows weren’t the most comfortable for us, but that’s just a personal preference. The bathroom had only the basics—shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap—which is fine, though it would have been nice to have a bit more. We appreciated that the mini fridge was restocked most days and that bottled water was plentiful.
When it comes to food, this resort isn’t exactly for foodies, but we were pleasantly surprised by how decent it was. There were plenty of options at the buffet, and while the food may not have been gourmet, it met our expectations for a place at this price point. The variety was great, and we didn’t have trouble finding something we liked. That said, the servers were fantastic—always making sure we had what we needed. Just a heads-up—there’s no room service here, which was a bit of a surprise.
The pools are mostly geared toward the party crowd, and they can get pretty crowded. There’s also a bit of a sewer smell near the party pools, which wasn’t ideal. I think many folks chose to not leave the pool for their potty breaks. Thankfully, there’s a quieter pool near the check-in area that was a perfect spot for us to relax. We were really grateful for that peaceful option, though be prepared to grab a chair early in the morning if you want a good spot.
Overall, we booked a last-minute trip with a modest budget, and for the price, we had a good time. While there are a few areas that could use some improvement—like the room comfort and food quality for those looking for something more gourmet—the friendly staff across all departments really made our stay memorable. The team, from the groundskeepers to the servers, really goes above and beyond to create a welcoming atmosphere, and that’s what made our stay enjoyable.

The RUI Cancun is not a 5* hotel, it would be somewhere between a 3* -4* star based upon U.K. classifications. The hotel needs a serious upgrade and renovations. The rooms are akin to a Travelodge standard, and the general upkeep of hotel needs massive improvement ( cleaning)
The views from the swimming pools are however absolutely stunning, and the staff work incredibly hard and are so polite. That’s is probably the one aspect this hotel excels.
The food again was not of a 5* standard, the meal one evening in the Italian was that poor we could not eat. We asked to be moved after 4 days, we moved next door to the RUI Palace, wow just wow, absolute night and day in comparison to RUI Cancun-that is a proper 5* hotel.
In summary, TUI should not be advertising RUI Cancun as part of their Platinum Collection. Whilst it has fantastic views and lovely pools, the hotel is simply not of a 4* let alone a 5* standard.

What a stay right in the heart of the Cancun hotel zone, my visit to Cancun for the first time exceeded all expectations. Recently had a stay in Room 1111 with my partner in our early thirties and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay in paradise all-inclusive. Being from the UK and well used to sub-par European all-inclusive hotels, our stay in RIU Cancun blew them out the water. The hotel had Italian, Japanese, Pan-Asian & Steakhouse sit down restaurants as well as a rotating menu buffet style each and every day which you just don’t get in European all-inclusives. The facilities and little touches they give you is insane that are value for money like your own mini bar and optics in your room. The whole place is always spotless with their staff working hard to keep the place clean all the time. And the service was impeccable and we were treated like kings and queens during our time there. Little tip: they are not paid like hospitality in Europe so make sure you tip in pesos. 50-100 pesos will go a very long way to the staff. Special mentions to Ki-ke at lunch and breakfast for memorising and bringing our coffee and juices whenever we arrived. Also to Sacqeo on the pool bar for memorising our drinks poolside and Fabien in the Japanese restaurant. And of course to the maids who cleaned our rooms each and every day and refilling our mini bar. We had an incredible stay here and we will be back. Make sure you get the room with a seaview as the view from our balcony was magical. My only tiny complaint would be that the place could do with a paint to freshen up the walls and exterior and the hotel could do with new bedding and towels as they are on the tired side. The other tips we have for staying in Cancun are 1) buy your Coco Bongo tickets directly outside the club, don’t be shy to barter and bring them down 2) go to Best Tours for your excursions in the precinct near Coco Bongo as they have the best prices and use the buses to get around rather than taxis

We are a couple visiting for a relaxing break for 10 nights.
Rooms are cleaned well daily, bar stocked up in room every 2 days there was 4 bottles of spirits 4 big water bottles beers cokes and sprites. Hubby was so impressed. However the room is simple and could probably do with a few bits of refurbishment.
Corner bar and pool near the corner bar was a lovely area during the morning if you prefer a bit quieter. Waiters will take orders and bring drinks whilst at the pool.
Coffee in the sports bar was the best! Although they don't have sky sports need to ask for fox to see if any uk football games are showing.
Japanese restaurant was the best dining experience for both food and service. If you go earlier rather than later on you will get a seat. Although there's plenty of staff waiting to help seat and get drinks in the main buffet area too and there's a good selection of food. Sports bar also has burgers and pastries and hotdogs 24 hours if you miss the restaurants. Near the pool there's a snack bar for tacos and burgers and chips.
The pool was warm and we stayed away from the pool bar one whilst busy, but when we did try it there was lots floating about was mucky and needs a good clean and regrouting.
The beach was lovely and work hard cleaning it every day. Could do with a few more sun brollies.
This hotel is geared more for parties and promote the parties.
The best part of this hotel is the staff! They work hard to keep everyone happy and the hotel are lucky to have them. We didn't come across anyone that wasn't smiling and happy to help.
We go home having a great time thank you.

My Experience at The Royal Cancun – Some Observations
I’m currently staying at The Riu Cancun, and after 15 years since my last visit, I’ve noticed some changes—unfortunately, not for the better. My goal for the weekend was simple: blow off some steam, stay somewhere clean and convenient, and enjoy the nightlife before heading back to reality.
Here are a few things that stood out: • Luggage Handling: Typically, when a room isn’t ready, you can check your bags, and staff will deliver them once it is. Not here—I had to haul my own bags through the lobby, across the resort, into the elevator, and to my room. • Beach & Pool Service: I was looking forward to ordering a cocktail while relaxing on the beach, but there was no drink service anywhere near the beach or pool. No biggie—I just went to the bar myself. • No Room Service: After a night out in Cancun, I was surprised to find no room service available. Again, not a dealbreaker, but definitely unexpected. • Food Quality: The food wasn’t great, but I could live with it. I came to party, not for fine dining.
But here’s what really got me: While having lunch, I saw a staff member digging through the trash, pulling out used plastic cups, and bagging them for reuse. Earlier, I had noticed a pink stain on my cup—which I assumed was lipstick. Now I know better. Immediately, I pushed my drink aside and left the resort to buy a cup for the rest of my stay.
I understand the need for cost-cutting and efficiency, but reusing dirty cups from the trash is beyond unacceptable. If you’re planning a stay at The Riu Cancun, bring your own cup or inspect what you’re drinking from—because there’s no telling where it’s been.

As for the positive points, I have to highlight the friendliness of the staff, the food was very delicious, and for my taste it had a lot of variety, even though I read comments that people say that there is not much variety. The beach was completely spectacular, all the time the cleaning staff was removing the remains of algae so that it was always in optimal conditions. The entertainment is quite enjoyable and the views from the room are unbeatable. We stayed on the 10th floor and the views were incredible. The only point to improve for my taste is that the room smells too musty and the bathroom smells a lot like pipes. The rest would certainly have no problem with it. Rocket and Rebecca from animation without a doubt the best!

The hotel in general was very clean, with constant cleaning by the staff in the general public areas Unfortunately the pool(bar) was closed on several days due to the water having been vomited in. The water on the days prior to this appeared to be cloudy, as if the filtration system was off. The other pools were available. The fifth floor lift area, appeared to be the area of choice for guests to use as a bathroom, as 3 consecutive days there was large amounts of vomit. The staff once aware had the unenviable task of cleaning this up.
The food on balance was good, with a nice selection in the main buffet area, from fish, meat and pasta stations. The dishes were not repeated on the hot stations whilst we were there. There was always a good variety of salad and vegetables available.
The steak restaurant appeared to have a glitch when we went, the steaks were coming out inedible due to toughness, they could have been used to sole shoes!!
The Italian restaurant was clean but the staff appeared to be a little confused leaving customers just standing there, and the meals, in particular lasagna, was not very appetising.
The staff at the hotel were always very polite and helpful, and were always eager to assist when requested, and work hard.
This hotel is for partying, and wouldn’t recommend for people seeking a relaxed holiday. There is a night club on site, and guests leaving this were particularly noisy in the early hours of the morning..
On rainy days there is very little to do in the hotel and the main evening entertainment seating is predominantly outside.
The beach was very clean and the sand was so soft, there were plenty of loungers but be careful where you place them as a proportion of the beach is beneath the hotels infinity pool.
Be prepared for the wind tunnel as you exit the hotel to the walkway that leads to the restaurants. (I wouldn’t spend too much time doing your hair!)
Tips for staff are preferred in pesos or American dollars.

No jogging down the beach would not be possible. The "all inclusive" hotels would not allow that plus there is no path or sufficient shoreline. There is a multi use path in front of the hotels that most people use for walking, cycling, and jogging etc
There are more places to choose from in the Cancun area.
