Meson del Mar is a historic building with some character, but the posted pictures make it look much better than it really is. It's a very basic hotel, with a charming lady as a manager, who makes every effort to help you (if you have some basic Spanish, at least). My accommodation was one of the double-level rooms. It was...

While we have been to Mexico dozens of times, this was our first trip to Veracruz. Based on other TA reviews we chose to stay at the Meson del Mar. It is located in the historic center of the city within easy walking distance of the Malecon, Zocalo and other attractions. It is, however, a long way from the beach...

The hotel is clean, quiet, and comfortable and very close to the Zocalo. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Would definitely return. My room had a loft with spiral staircase but slept downstairs in the double bed. The bathroom was very small and reminiscent of those on a Pullman railroad car.

I just spent 3 nights at meson del mar hotel and it was a very nice 3 star Hotel. The management was incredible and helpful is every way. Within minutes walking to 3 museums and about a 10 minute walk to the zocolo. The restaurant was closed but I would not have used it, besides for a beer or two,...

It was very central, you could around the old downtown & pier area. It was good for our family, as there was one King size & two queen sized beds in our room. The mezzanine level did make the room dark though not cramped.

Great for one night...they told me no wifi in the rooms, just the public areas, but it worked in mine (214). Staff was fine, quite accommodating (I wanted to check in quite early and they let me). Cheap price...good bed and bedding. Shower could have a better shower head. Everything worked fine. No telephones in the rooms...but what do you...

I booked this for one week and was originally going to move to a pricier hotel for our second week in Veracruz. We loved it so much that we canceled the other reservation and stayed 2 weeks! The manager was so lovely. I got sick and she made me home made chicken soup! She was very helpful with directions and...

I made a reservation based on a hot deal through Travelocity. When I arrived at the hotel the front door was locked and I had to get the "front desk" person to open it up and that was at 5pm. There was no reservation and the person in charge spoke no English and so we made things work with Google...

I love the colonial house where the the hotel is located, with its patio and balconies. The room was very nice and clean. Staff were very nice and helpful. The location is great, just few blocks away from the Zócalo, some good restaurants and the famous Gran Café de la Parroquia are very close. Recommended.
