The oldest hotel in Veracruz, 'dlligencias' referring to the stagecoaches that stopped here between Mexico City and the port -- with such historic figures as Benito Juárez, Maximilian and Carlota needing lodging here. Prolific songwriter Agustín Lara wrote at least one of his greatest hits...More
This is the best place to stay in downtown/historic Veracruz. Come here if you want to enjoy the sights and (esp.) sounds of this magical/musical city. Rooms facing the Zocalo (plaza) provide entertainment day and night. The rooms are pretty and well kept. The staff...More
Hotel has certainly seen better times but still maintains an air of calm and quality in this historic port. Perfectly located on the historic Zocalo. 5 mins from the seafront. Staff incredibly helpful. Very friendly

There is a website. Just google Gran Hotel Diligencias and look for one that starts gran-diligencia. One is in Spanish and another is in English. You can do it online. There was no phone number. I can't remember where I got the phone number and don't have it anymore. Maybe I emailed them and they replied with it. But you might need some Spanish to communicate. Ask for a view of the Parque (Plaza).
We found Veracruz safe and we are both over 70. The hotel is right on the parade route, at least it was for at least one of them. View the parage from above the street on their second floor terrace overlooking the park.
